(BL)Alpha Made-Chapter 522: Maxwell isn’t going to let that get him down
Maxwell made sure that his sweet, worried, anxious Andrew got fresh flowers every day after that. After seeing how the man had lit up and then collapsed at the sight, Maxwell’s backbone had hardened. His man was going through a difficult time, and unlike Maxwell, he was not thriving on the idea that his family would dare to come and crash their wedding.
Maxwell relished the idea that his family would even attempt to do so. Maxwell planned to beat the shit out of them if they tried. Andrew was more...delicate. He didn’t want to have to resort to violence if he didn’t have to.
The Beckett family was busy sharpening knives and buying silencers. Andrew’s family, the family heavily impacted by their actions, were busy drinking tea and talking about their feelings. There was nothing wrong with either option, Maxwell was just making sure he took care of his soon to be husband.
Because he would be that. His husband. No one was stopping Maxwell from putting that claim on Andrew Knox. Not his father, not his grandfather, and not even the police. Even if someone from his family, Maxwell’s family, tried to protest the marriage, it was too late for that.
Maxwell would even tie up his flesh and blood to make sure that this happened. He was fairly certain that Andrew wasn’t aware of how seriously Maxwell was taking this production, and that Maxwell was going to rock his world, put a ring on, and lock him down in less than a week.
Andrew’s tests had come back normal. Actually, above average for his sperm count. Maxwell had no doubt that the man could get him pregnant. He’d been taking his pills, doing his little blood tests every three weeks to see how he was doing, and Maxwell was now ready and willing. He’d even started tracking when he’d be fertile.
He wasn’t going to be at his peak when Andrew and Maxwell went on their honeymoon, but that didn’t matter. Maxwell was excited to feel Andrew cum inside of him like the good old days before he was fully a true alpha. Maxwell still dreamed of those days when they had been reckless and wild.
Was his thoughts in the gutter? Absolutely. With Andrew as the future father of his children, and with the fact that he had agreed to have kids with him after being so up in the air for a while, who wouldn’t have their mind in the gutter? They had planned to start this on their honeymoon. Maxwell was hoping that Andrew was prepared for how much Maxwell was going to milk. Him. Dry.
It was one of the few things that was keeping him sane through the planning process. While his Mom was lovely and used to planning these kinds of events, Maxwell knew that there was more pressure on him and his wedding than even Ben’s. William could get away with anything at this point, but being the solo omega in the family had a different weight then being the second born alpha.
Andrew knew it too, which was why he’d had a bit of a panic attack and crashed out. That was also why Maxwell couldn’t bring himself to be mad at him for it. He just cared about the man too much, and wanted them to shoulder the burdens of their new positions together. This was going to be an adjustment for the both of them.
Maxwell was adjusting to the fact that Andrew was slowly building a name for himself, even if he wasn’t aware of it. People were beginning to understand that he had a lot more money than he let on, who his father was, and who his Mother was. That last part was slowly overshadowing his father’s credentials as the truth of what had happened at the mansion was slowly trickling out amongst the masses.
It was making Andrew more important, and the man didn’t even know it. He thought he was just going to be Maxwell’s pretty arm candy for the rest of his life. Maxwell had a feeling that by the time that next year rolled around, Andrew was going to be rubbing shoulders with people Maxwell would have begged to get attention from before.
Maxwell couldn’t even get mad at Andrew for that. He had no desire for it, and he would easily hand over his opportunities to Maxwell without hesitation. That was another thing that was so loveable about the man. His opportunities were their opportunities. Maxwell could kiss the man all over for that simple concept and how easily he executed it.
Now, it was the day before they flew to the island. Maxwell’s Mom had already been there, and so had the wedding planner. Both women were making sure that everything was perfect. Maxwell’s outfits were separated from Andrew’s, but their rooms were close by.
Everyone knew that even though Andrew had made leaps and bounds over who had been at the start when he had manifested as a true alpha, it was going to be a stressful day. If things took a turn, Andrew would want Maxwell nearby, and Maxwell would fight anyone who would prevent that.
Superstitions or otherwise.
Now that it was getting into crunch time, Maxwell was starting to get nervous. He was busy packing his bag for the honeymoon, but honestly? It was mostly just lace, leather and velvet. Maxwell wasn’t planning to be dressed for the honeymoon. He’d even made sure that the house they had booked had its own private beach, a private pool, and a private hot tub.
Maxwell wanted nothing to interrupt his time with his new husband and Andrew, bless him, just wanted Maxwell to be happy and healthy. Wherever he wanted to go, Andrew readily agreed to. So they were going international, somewhere nice and warm, and Maxwell bet that Andrew was going to pack shorts and t-shirts. Maybe even a water gun.
Maxwell almost wanted to laugh.
It was something that Maxwell had suggested, that they both pack a carry-on that they would want to take on the honeymoon instead of one large checked bag. Just in case it got lost during transit. Andrew easily agreed, especially since the honeymoon wasn’t too long, only 2 weeks in length. It was all that Maxwell could afford since the wedding was going to take up another week of his time. He was a CEO, but he was a hands-on CEO. Almost a month off for a wedding? That was plenty of time, and Andrew couldn’t afford to take off much more time from school either.
Plus, if Maxwell was coming back loaded with a baby cooking inside of him, he was going to have to shuffle other things around, have systems in place to make sure that the company could run without him around for a while. Or at least in a diminished capacity.
The same way he was restructuring his secretary department because Mr. Newman was on bedrest. Maxwell’s chest squeezed at the reminder that he couldn’t make it to Maxwell’s wedding.
That was the one person that Maxwell hadn’t expected wouldn’t be able to come. Mr. Newman, despite Maxwell’s bickering, was as close to a best friend as Maxwell had. He had expected him to be running around with the wedding planner and making sure that everything was in their right place, but he was instead going to watch from a screen. Richard had been humming and hawing about even coming, torn but Andrew had told him finally that whatever he decided, he was okay with.
He could choose to be there with the soon to be father of his child, or he could be there with his family and a virtual father to be. Andrew didn’t care, because they’d received his invites to his wedding.
It was...so strange to listen to how Andrew interacted with the Gates, how warm they were, even from the beginning. Even when things had been awkward, it had been nothing like how Maxwell had felt tip-toeing around his family until Andrew entered his life.
It was like Andrew was the glue that he never knew he needed. He made everything that much better, that much easier. Even when he was freaking out, the man somehow had a calming touch that worked on everyone, particularly omegas and children.
Maxwell didn’t like to think about that fact too much. He was going to save that for him and their kids. Forgive him for being selfish, but Andrew was going to be a one omega man, and he wanted it that way.
Either way, Maxwell made sure that his suitcase for the honeymoon was fully packed, marked, and tucked to the side. They were packing another, smaller bag for the few days that they were at the island and had to sleep separately.
That was going to be hard. Maxwell was the first to admit. He’d had a terrible bout of insomnia before he’d met Andrew and now he slept like the dead with the man wrapped around him. He’d always been partial to cold, but who could be cold with an Andrew around?
Hell, he’d even given up smoking for the man, his big, pleading brown eyes too much for Maxwell to fight. He was worried he was going to fall into bad habits just because they were going to be separate for a few days.
Thank goodness Andrew wasn’t allowed to know where Maxwell was sleeping, and Maxwell wasn’t allowed to know where Andrew was sleeping. Amir’s grandmother was behind this.
A tradition. Something that had happened for Ben and Amir as well. Amir had told Maxwell that he’d gotten through it with a few pieces of Andrew’s clothes, so Maxwell had made sure to pack a few things, but he wasn’t sure if he could hold out. How Amir, who had been pregnant at the time had managed, Maxwell had no clue.
Maybe it was the fact that they were already bonded that he’d felt okay spending that time separated.
Maxwell wasn’t blaming Andrew that they weren’t bonded. He knew that the man was a hopeless romantic, and given how hectic their life had been up until now, there hadn’t really been a moment for them to even talk about bonding further, let alone actually doing it. If Andrew wasn’t a hopeless romantic, Maxwell felt he would have been bonded after he’d told Andrew that they were fated.
Maxwell was a little bitter about it, but not enough to let it taint anything. He’d been patient enough already, he could manage now. He would be much happier with however Andrew planned to do it later down the line then he would be if he rushed it. Andrew would weep about it if he didn’t get it just perfect.
That was not something that Maxwell wanted to hear for the rest of their lives together, so he’d just suck it up. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
He was literally getting married to the man in a few days. He could count it down in hours. A bond mark hadn’t bothered him too much before, he wouldn’t let it get to him now. Just in case, however, Maxwell shoved another shirt into his smaller bag.
Just to be safe.
