Chapter 523: A helicopter ride is always stressful

Andrew still wasn’t used to taking a helicopter to and from places. He hadn’t been as nervous the first time he’d taken the helicopter to the island, but he had been nervous. This was on a completely different level.

Thankfully, he had Maxwell holding his hand. The man had a vice grip on it, even if his eyes weren’t looking at him and instead scanning the island coming into view and the choppy water below.

Andrew was glad that the omegas in charge were letting them be together traveling across the water. Andrew wasn’t sure how he would have managed without Maxwell at his side. He knew it was a relatively quick flight over, just over 20 minutes, but as the big day approached....

Andrew was getting more clingy. He could tell. The others could tell.

He wasn’t exactly hiding it. Maxwell also wasn’t helping, either. He kept giving Andrew flowers every morning, kissing him softly and encouraging his behaviour. He was going to make Andrew forget that he had standards that he had set for himself.

Maxwell’s gaze was too enchanting. He would agree to anything the man said to him, anything the man told him to do. Maxwell was telling him it was okay that Andrew was clingy and needy, and Andrew really needed the man to not say that to him. He’d even brought it up once, hesitant that maybe Maxwell would get upset.

However, the man had simply smiled at Andrew, pushed his hair back from his forehead and gave him a soft, tender kiss. Then he had pulled back and stared at him smiling for a long moment. Then he said he didn’t care and welcomed Andrew getting so attached to him that he couldn’t live without him.

Andrew had been tongue-tied ever since. The man was too handsome and charming for his own good. For Andrew’s heart health as well.

It was a good thing that they were arriving two days before the actual ceremony so that Andrew could get himself emotionally ready. After Andrew’s blow up and realisation, he had taken a step back from organising. Everyone still kept him in the loop but Andrew was hands off now.

It was a good thing since then he had time to worry about what he was going to pack for the honeymoon, if he had enough outfits packed, what Maxwell would need. He had unpacked and repacked his bag several times, wanting to include the lube, then remembering that he couldn’t because it was a carry on, getting flustered and unsure.

He knew that he should pack condoms, just in case. Did he want to? Not really. He knew what promise that they had made to each other, but he also knew that these were special condoms that had to be ordered in.

He should just be safe. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Knowing that, the bags were tucked at his feet. Both honeymoon bags would be taken away by Luis once they had arrived. She had been at the island for a week in preparation. Making sure the rooms were set up, the place was clean and that those who needed to come early could without fear that it would be a den of spider webs.

Her words, and Andrew didn’t believe that for a second. She would never let a home turn into that state unless it was intentional. This home was too much like a damn palace for her to ever let that happen. He knew that it was just her trying to joke. Andrew had laughed, even if he hadn’t wanted to.

He knew that he needed to. That he needed to relax. At any other moment in his life, he would have drank to make himself feel better and more relaxed. However, Andrew knew from his therapy sessions that this was the worst time to drink. Maxwell had also been supporting him in his decision to stay away from alcohol outside of the chat with Maria.

Andrew’s face burned as he remembered what gift she had given him for his honeymoon. Maria, the scoundrel, had gotten Andrew something that he never would have considered. It was more of a gift for Maxwell then it was for Andrew.

A leather harness made to fit Andrew. How she had gotten his measurements he had no clue, but he knew that someone was going to enjoy it quite a bit. It even had metal loops for additions. What kinds? Andrew wasn’t going to worry about that part too much. There was even a matching set of leather underwear with a zipper.

Andrew did not want to know who made it or where. He was sure if Maxwell enjoyed it, he would ask. It was in the honeymoon bag.

They got the warning that they were about to descend and Andrew’s hand squeezed Maxwell’s. Maxwell didn’t glance at Andrew and instead gave him a squeeze in response. Andrew looked out the window, taking in the helicopter pad, the gardens, everything and let it sink in that in less than three days, he was going to be married to Maxwell. Maxwell Beckett. The only omega son of the Beckett family.

His head swam as he thought of that, but he forced himself to breathe, low and slow.

This was a huge deal, and one that he was looking forward to.

He could not wait to be joined with Maxwell until death made them part. He wanted nothing more than that. As the helicopter came to a standstill, both men waited for the blades to slow down before they even considered getting out. When the door did slide open, people were there to grab their things and carry them away.

Luis was all smiles as she approached the helicopter, her arms out. Her clothing was billowy, soft, not the harsh outfit that Andrew had first greeted her in.

"My boys! Welcome! Are you excited?" She asked, hugging Maxwell first before she pulled the shaky Andrew into her arms. She gave him an extra long hug.

"I’m worried I’m going to fuck it up." Andrew admitted, getting looks from Maxwell, Luis, and the staff. Luis and Maxwell looked shocked, while the staff seemed to interpret it in another way.

"How could you fuck it up, Andy?" Luis asked, her eyebrows drawn together. "Are you getting cold feet?" She asked. The words slipped out of her mouth, no judgement, but Andrew watched as Maxwell’s face hardened. Andrew shook his head immediately, reaching for Maxwell and tugging him close.

"No, no! I would never! I just...worry I’m going to let down the Beckett family in some way." Andrew admitted. Luis’ expression softened, the worry and confusion leaving in a second.

"Sweetheart, Amir threw up at his wedding, remember? You helped him with it. Did anyone bring it up?" She asked and Andrew gulped.

"That was different. He was pregnant, even if he was hiding it." Andrew protested and Maxwell slid his arms around Andrew, giving him a squeeze.

"We could use the same excuse. Say you’re pregnant. No one would say a damn thing, Baby. There is also no way you could let us down, embarrass us, nothing. You’re mine, you’re ours, and we don’t abandon our people." Maxwell told him, tucking himself against Andrew’s chest and holding him.

Andrew wrapped his arm around Maxwell’s shoulders, feeling his body absorbing Maxwell’s essence through his pores. His breathing stabilized before Luis’ very gaze. Her eyes softened further.

"It’s going to be a big day, and we are going to ask a lot of you, but Andy, we like you too much to care if something happens. Maybe...a suit rips, you get a stain, you get food poisoning. Any number of things could happen from right now until the wedding day. However, are we in control of any of those things?" She asked and Andrew felt his mouth dry up.

Embarrassed, Andrew shook his head and Luis’ gaze softened. She reached up, glancing at Maxwell first as if she was asking for permission first, and then cupped Andrew’s cheek.

"My sweet, big-hearted son-in-law. Did you really think we would care about something so foolish? Have we not claimed you even when we said we didn’t want to? Do you not remember how we first met? We were so ready to spit in your face and you came in with open arms and no malice. There was no way we could stop you from getting into our hearts. Now it’s time to let us soothe your worries. Come on. Lets go have some snacks and sit with the wedding planner and go through the final plans, alright? Amir’s grandmother and grandfather will be here shortly, same with Ben and Amir. They’ll be delayed due to a Doctor’s visit for Mehar." Luis said.

Both Andrew and Maxwell stiffened and Luis blinked, then laughed when she realised what she had done.

"She’s fine. Routine. Just a simple check up to make sure that she’s on the right track and to get a shot or two. Nothing to worry about." Her eyes sparkled as she looked between them. "I had no idea I would have to soothe you two about this." She teased and Maxwell was the one who answered.

"Who wouldn’t be worried when you phrased it like that, Mom?" He asked as Luis gently led them off of the helicopter pad and down into the house proper.

"Oh, come on. I didn’t think anything of it. With all the babies popping up around us, I thought you two would have already adapted to that kind of talk. Speaking of, how is Ellis doing, dear?" Luis asked and Andrew was glad that the flow of conversation had shifted to something...easier. Safer.

Not about the wedding for a moment.

Maxwell updated his Mom on Ellis’ condition and how the Doctors were quite pleased with his development so far. They were going for an earlier delivery date because of the plug, but he was mostly passed the danger zone so far. He was not cleared for travel, so he was staying back. So was Richard and both were going to be watching the ceremony through a tablet that someone was going to hold.

They were going to sit in the seat that Richard and Ellis would have been assigned so that they could truly feel like they were there. Luis knew some of this, but she seemed pleased to hear a more recent update from Ellis.

"I am so glad that he found someone so supportive of him." She turned her gaze to Andrew and reached out, squeezing his hand. "And that they were so close by. It is nice to know that our families are all so interlocked now." She said, and Andrew believed that she meant it.

He knew that Luis, Thomas, May and Ford had all been getting closer. Kim and Jenny would have also been included in that, but Andrew had thrust them building a new company into their hands so they were a little too busy to hang out as much.

They were arriving a day early though, even though the rest of the families were arriving today.

Andrew was feeling nervous all over again, but he was able to talk himself down. He was repeating what Luis had just said to him, and the warmth of Maxwell against him was keeping him calm.

Arriving before everyone else arrived was a good plan. It would give him time to wander, see things with his own eyes, and feel that everything was real. He had this. He could be strong for himself, but mostly for Maxwell.
