(BL)Alpha Made-Chapter 524: A visit to the wedding spot
The wedding planner was a saint. She was soft spoken, kind, and took one look at Andrew’s pale face and didn’t run. She instead brought them over the table that Andrew had had lunch the morning after the wedding and talked to them about the plan they had decided on months ago.
Maxwell stayed at Andrew’s side, both men silently putting food on each other’s plates to make sure that the other was eating while the planner spoke. Andrew and Maxwell hadn’t wanted anything too crazy, some speeches, a simple, straight forward ceremony with a hand fasting because it was a cute idea, and that was it. They wanted to keep it simple, with a focus on the flower arch around them, the ocean and then the party.
That was what Maxwell was looking forward to and Andrew was a bit worried about how it was going to go down.
Andrew had invited some people from his past and had gotten the rsvp from them as well. Maxwell had made sure that everyone knew the pick up locations for helicopters and boats and Andrew made sure that those instructions were clear to a normie too.
That was another reason why Luis had come early. Rooms had to be prepared for pretty much everyone since Maxwell wanted a big party. The families, Beckett’s, Knox, Gates and Proctor were being secluded to the ’family’ wing. Andrew and Maxwell hadn’t stayed in it last time because Andrew had been just barely stable. This time, they would be.
In the honeymoon suit.
Andrew doubted that anything would come from it, since Maxwell was going to drink so much that Andrew was going to have to keep him upright half of the night. Andrew didn’t mind. Maxwell rarely let himself go like that, and it was a treat to watch. He always came back to Andrew, wanting to show him off, brag about him. It was sweet that even in his intoxicated state that he wanted to be near him.
But, they weren’t staying in the suit the night before. The night before they were being separated from each other and those rooms would be flipped the day of for other guests. Once they were married? No problems. They would be changing into their second and third outfits in those rooms.
Andrew was listening to the plans, hearing them and processing them carefully. He was being thoughtful, because he needed to be. His head was still full of worries and anxiety, but he was getting more and more excited as she kept talking.
That was only interrupted by Amir’s grandparents arriving in a flourish. They demanded hugs and kisses, grins creasing their cheeks as they pinched Andrew’s with their fingers. Murmuring in their native tongue something that sounded so sweet that Andrew didn’t need to speak it to know it was words of deep affection for him.
He welcomed them to the table, both Andrew and Maxwell making sure that they had some of the snacks prepared on plates for them while Luis sourced good tea for them as well.
It was a small thing, them being here, but Andrew appreciated the weight of Amir’s grandmother’s hand on his knee, giving it a squeeze as if he could sense how anxious Andrew was.
Slowly, people began to trickle onto the property. Each one being directed to the sunlit space where Andrew and Maxwell were until the space was teaming with life. Laughter, faint music, and the sounds of everyone’s own excitement at the upcoming wedding made the tension in Andrew’s shoulders fade.
Eventually, the wedding planner wanted to take them to the venue, show them what it was looking like so far and Andrew and Maxwell went. The others wished them well, sparkles in their eyes and Andrew was glad for it.
He was glad that he had family around, even if there was a void inside of him that was missing his Mom on such a happy day.
He didn’t say anything to anyone. He didn’t want to bring down the energy in the room. He knew that Maxwell was aware of how he felt, how it was bittersweet, and that was okay. He didn’t want anyone else to feel sad about his Mom not being here, because he knew that she wasn’t completely missing.
She was here in the flowers, in the trees, in the wind on the sea. She was inside of Andrew even now, he just also wanted her to be here with him in person too. He wasn’t about to dig her up and prop up her coffin though.
That was a step too far for him, and for Maxwell. That might be the one thing that would make Maxwell reconsider his marriage to Andrew, and Andrew wouldn’t argue with him about it either.
The ride out to the island was done on a simple little boat. It just had a motor and enough space for the three of them plus a driver. The wedding planner let them know that the dock on the island was big enough for the boat that they would be taking over with the guests who were invited to the ceremony. This was just for ease.
Andrew didn’t argue with her, his own thoughts on his Mom, and the tight feeling in his chest when he thought about everyone around him supporting him. Maxwell’s head was on a swivel, looking at everything around them, including the water and the sky. He was asking questions of the wedding planner as they made their way across. Small talk while Andrew was silent.
Andrew loved his fiancé. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
The area was stunning. They would have to climb a staircase made out of stones, but that was part of the appeal for them choosing this location. Maxwell had shown Andrew a few photos of it and Andrew had found it so charming that they had decided on it.
The workers who had been tasked to make this place perfect had mostly worked on encouraging new growth of mosses while also making sure that the island was stable and secure. The stone steps had been minorly repaired so that no one would trip, especially those wearing heels.
They had told others to not wear heels for this part, but Luis was determined. Maxwell was also planning to wear a little heel, so Andrew couldn’t even really protest. He would just make sure his love didn’t fall.
The arch was mostly done, woven out of trees and branches that would be threaded with flowers a few hours before Maxwell and Andrew showed up. They were made from living trees that had been bred and bent in safe ways so that they could make something pretty and living. May and Ford were going to take the trees after and plant them in their garden.
Andrew had wanted to argue, and even Luis had been ready to step in and stake her claim but Ford had been fierce about his claim. Even Luis had backed down without much of a fight. Andrew didn’t know why he was fierce about it, but he would not deny Ford his right, especially as he had been helping out with the growth team.
He had been out here personally helping with the trees, moss, and plant life. It would...be nice to know that he would be tending to the arch himself.
There was a small shed on the water where they were keeping life jackets and other things for the island in case the weather took a turn. Andrew and Maxwell had a back up of a large boat to get married on if things took a turn, and then an extra back up of a location on the main island if that wasn’t possible.
The wedding planner was cool, collected as she went over the weather for them during their ceremony, and discussed if they wanted to move it up or move it back in any way. Now was the time to think about it, but Maxwell let her know that they already had plans. If they had to move into the boat plan or the main island plan, that’s what they had to do.
There was a reason the archway had been grown in pots so that it could be moved around. Not easily, but moved around.
Andrew was just glad that so far, things looked to be going smoothly. Even Maxwell seemed more relaxed once they were back on the tiny boat.
"It’s nice to see it in person, right?" Andrew said softly, and Maxwell and the wedding planner turned to him. Maxwell’s expression was soft. He leaned into Andrew, pressing a kiss against his chin since he couldn’t quite reach high enough. He smiled when Andrew lowered his head for a kiss.
"It is nice to see it in person. You were happy with everything?" He asked and Andrew watched the wedding planner tense. He had done a number on her from her reaction. Andrew chuckled.
"I am fine with everything. Everyone has done a great job." Andrew told them and he watched as the wedding planner relaxed and Maxwell chuckled.
"My stubborn fiancé has agreed that everything is perfect. I have no doubt that you will do a wonderful job." Maxwell told her and they both watched as she gave a soft sigh. She smiled at them.
"Thank you for saying so. Alright, I’ll be around making sure that everything is going to plan. I won’t worry you unless I need to from this point on." She said and Andrew and Maxwell nodded.
"Don’t forget that you can have fun once we hit the third party please. I would be rather upset if you took on all this stress for us and you didn’t end up having food and drinks at the end of it all." Andrew told her, meaning his words. Her expression softened.
"I will keep that in mind." She told him. A professional answer if Andrew ever heard one, but he didn’t push it. They weren’t even at the wedding yet, things could still go awry.
When they got back to the main island, she walked them through the party area. It was the same one that Ben and Amir had used, so it was familiar to Andrew. It was interesting to see how they had changed it slightly, tweaking it for Andrew and Maxwell.
It was subtle, but just enough for others to not be able to say that Ben and Maxwell had a similar wedding. Maxwell seemed happy with it, and if he was, Andrew was.
Andrew did notice that the drink boards were already made and his eyes swam at the shots that Maxwell had put on there. When Maxwell caught what Andrew was looking at, he came over and placed a hand on his stomach, a grin on his face.
"You’ll let me take a shot from your mouth again, right?" He asked sweetly and Andrew gave a laugh.
"Anything for my Maxy."
