Shen Congwen’s expression was beyond awful. She glared at Zhou Yunchen. "Utterly boring."

But Zhou Yunchen didn’t seem angry at all. "I’m doing this for your own good. Think about it, you’re already 29 and don’t have an understanding and caring woman by your side. If I don’t care about you, who will?"

Shen Congwen, usually calm and self-possessed, felt somewhat flustered. "Zhou Yunchen, I’m going to sleep."

Zhou Yunchen just chuckled. "Indeed, it’s getting late."

He retrieved the medicine and poured a glass of water. "Take your medicine and go to sleep."

Shen Congwen stared at him.

"I’ll sleep on the couch." Zhou Yunchen sighed. "You won’t even let me use the guest room. Look how fragile our bond as former classmates has become. We’re practically strangers."

Shen Congwen couldn’t hold back anymore. "If we’re practically strangers, then you can leave."

Zhou Yunchen leaned down and whispered, "Bristling again? Why are you so pleasant with others, but so harsh with me? Is it because you’re sure I won’t get angry, or are you just being presumptuous because you know I care about you?"

Shen Congwen took the medicine, drank half a glass of water, and walked into the bedroom, ignoring him. This man is completely insane!

Zhou Yunchen, however, slowly sat down and continued watching TV for a while. At one in the morning, he took the thermometer to the master bedroom.

When he was taking Shen Congwen’s temperature, she seemed to be awake, her voice low. "Zhou Yunchen?"

Shen Congwen remained silent.

"Getting angry again... Why do you get angry so easily?" Zhou Yunchen muttered. "I really should take you to a doctor."

Shen Congwen just looked at him.

They stared at each other for about a minute before Zhou Yunchen finally said in a hoarse voice, "You’re being evasive."

He finally got up, poured a glass of water, and watched Shen Congwen drink half of it before he left.

After he closed the door, Shen Congwen felt an urge to smoke out of frustration. But when her hand reached the nightstand, she remembered that someone had thrown away her cigarette pack... With no other option, she slowly lay back down. She thought she wouldn’t be able to sleep, but within minutes, she felt very drowsy.

Zhou Yunchen must have put sleeping pills in the water— was her last conscious thought.

「The next morning」

When Shen Congwen woke up, it was already nine o’clock.

Zhou Yunchen was already gone. The luxurious apartment felt particularly empty. She went to the kitchen to pour a glass of water and saw breakfast, still warm, on the small dining table.

Shen Congwen looked at it quietly for a moment, then lifted the cover. It was a Chinese-style breakfast, very ordinary, but it smelled quite fragrant!

She sat down and sipped the congee slowly, very carefully...

Zhou Yunchen was sitting in An Pu’s luxurious office, while Gu Anxi was on the sofa, looking through documents and sketching.

His words made Gu Anxi even more curious. "Tell me, who is the girl? Do I know her?"

Zhou Yunchen said vaguely, "You probably know her."

"Is she pretty?" Gu Anxi’s interest was piqued.

Zhou Yunchen glanced at her. "She’s decent-looking, I suppose. But she probably doesn’t realize she’s attractive. She lacks femininity, more like a tomboy."

Gu Anxi rested her chin on her hand, thinking carefully. She couldn’t think of anyone she knew who fit that description. Perhaps it’s one of An Pu’s clients?
