Celestial Speed: Legacy-Chapter 42: Sonic

It had been recorded on the internet that anytime a portal closed, it meant that the beast had already emerged. So even if you didn’t see anything appear before the portal closed, be at alert.

And Henry was definitely on high alert, he was glancing through the surroundings with wary, clenching his sword as his speed healing kicked in.

As he looked around, he still couldn’t see anything, but his senses were telling that he wasn’t alone in the woods. The beast was still there

Henry kept skimming through the trees, hoping to catch a glimpse of the beast, and then he did. The same blue light from before flashed in his eyes again but for only a split second. Due to his time perception that was in a way always active, he got a few detailed glimpses.

It was definitely on all fours, and it was moving with intense speed. It was white but had blue spots all over it’s body, which seemed to generate the blue trail of energy as the beast ran. It was speedster with four legs, that was definitely a problem. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

"Crap! Even with the perception skill, i can only get a few glances, I’m screwed for sure. This thing is faster than me." he muttered Wait! Hehe," Henry exclaimed as something came into his mind, he made a command in his head and immediately the visor that Alicia had given him the previous day appeared on his eyes.

He tapped the side of the visor and it activated and began its work. The light passed again, but Henry was now able to monitor it, he turned his body in the directions they beast ran, following it’s movement clearly.

The beast also seemed to notice that somehow the human could now see ando monitor it’s movement. It couldn’t use the element of suprise anymore.

The beast then stopped at a close distance, directly facing Henry, who could now see it’s features clearly.

It was a 6ft tall beauty... yes beauty, it had short but sharp claws, it had a lean athletic build with a white thick fur, which had blue spots that shimmered in the light while it’s piercing eyes glowed with majestic energy. This was just a large, white cheetah with blue spots.

It stared at Henry, snarling from time to time, but it didn’t charge forward, it remained on a spot, seemingly waiting for something.

"Wow! Nobody told me that galactic beasts could be so... good looking." he muttered to himself

"But I’m going to kill it anyways, now that it isn’t engaging me is perfect. But first." he thought before activating the inspect skill

Henry gulped hard, this was nothing like he had ever faced before, a galactic beast

"The theories are true, galactic beasts are much more powerful than magical beasts. I’m going to have to use everything I have to take down this... Wait they named it sonic." he thought before bursting into laughter

"Hellhound and now sonic," Henry chuckled some more, disregarding the danger of his situation. But somehow the beast still didn’t charge in, it was as if it was waiting for Henry to make the first move.

"Alright since you’re fast, i just have to be faster." he muttered before preparing to activate dash

" Come to think of it, what is it’s speed rate?" Henry thought, but before he could say or do anything further, the beast dissappeared from it’s spot. But it wasn’t heading towards Henry, it had left the area, as if running away.

Henry was caught off guard, he hadn’t expected the beast to act like that. He quickly equipped Talaria-x and put away his sword.

"Oh no, you’re not getting away so easily," he thought before activating his eye of horus, energy detection skill.

Then he could see it, a faint blue energy resembling a smoke which trailed away from the area, it was the beast’s energy signature. Of course, all of these was happening very slow around Henry as the time perception had activated immediately after the beast left.

"It couldn’t be far." Henry muttered before dashing away from the woods with mega speed. The boots having doubled his speed, with his current speed almost at mach 1.

Henry was moving through the city with massive speed, his shirtless body feeling the wind, passing through people and obstacles with ease, while still moving at full speed. And after a few seconds with the time perception still in use, he caught up to the sonic, well not exactly at it’s pace, but he could see the beast’s back. It was only few meters in front of Henry.

It noticed Henry and immediately increased it’s speed, now running three times faster than before. Henry gritted his teeth, his hands and legs moving swiftly but he still couldn’t catch up to it. But with the help of the visor and energy detection, he didn’t lose the beast tracks.

Henry’s face twitched when he saw the message, he looked at his front closely only to discover that the beast wasn’t in front of him anymore, it was only it’s blue trail and after images. The sonic had left Henry in the dust

"Fuck! This beast is at mach 3! Its too fast, i wonder where it could even be now," he thought, still following the energy trail at full speed

"I can’t lose this beast, i can’t lose this race. Not today, activate dash," he muttered

Henry accelerated as well, his speed now doubled for 30 seconds, he kept moving his body swiftly, running across meters in milliseconds. But it still wasn’t enough, he couldn’t see the beast, only the trail.

"Damn it! This isn’t over," he sighed, getting prepared to give up the chase and stop, but his face suddenly brightened up as he thought of something.

"The suit!" he exclaimed "Why didn’t i think of it earlier, ahh fuck!"

"Well, no use crying over spilled milk, best to buy another," he grinned before summoning the Nitro suit he purchased the previous night.

Henry suddenly felt his body became warm, both his upper and lower body had been covered by a white tight-fitted jumpsuit, with blue lines that streamed around the suit, giving it a magnificent design.

Henry was now equipped with the Nitro suit and Winged boot, he looked very elegant along with the visor. Now resembling an actual speedster from movies.

He even felt tempted to stop and get a good look at himself and feel the drip, but there was something else that felt more exhilarating. The system screen appeared with the promised boosts

Henry was euphoric, he felt his body move faster across the city, which now looked like they were in slow motion. But this wasn’t due to the perception skill, it was because of the speed. Henry was now moving at supersonic speed, running so fast that everything looked paused, but he wasn’t finished

"Activate Nitro suit speed boost," he muttered, and immediately the suit’s blue outlines glowed and increased Henry’s speed by another 100%, thus doubling his current speed once again and putting him in mach 5.

Henry was smiling like a mad man, the kind of joy he was feeling currently was to ecstatic to explain. He took a single step and appeared miles away

"Only five seconds uh? That would be enough," he muttered and took a few more steps with his time perception still active. He had indeed only taken a few steps, but that was enough to get him miles forward and directly where the sonic was.

Henry smiled as he approached the beast, he was now running side by side with it "I told you, you won’t get away so easily," he muttered

The beast has a look of panic on it’s face, it wondered how Henry had managed to reach it’s level of speed, it hadn’t even been up to 3 minutes since they both began the race... or chase if you prefer.

But the sonic didn’t relent, it accelerated and increased in speed again, now widening the gap between itself and Henry once again.

Henry was originally supposed to scoff at this, afterall he was still faster than this, but he didn’t. Instead he had a frustrated look on his face and this was because of the second message he received.

Henry gritted his teeth as he saw the beast enlarging the distance between them once again.

"Not this time," Henry muttered and activated dash. His speed increased as well and he almost caught up with the beast if it wasn’t for a very large obstacle.

Standing just a few distance in front of Henry and the sonic was the a very tall building, Infact the tallest in the entire iris city. It was way too tall with it’s tip already piercing the clouds.

Now, normally when the beast ran through the city it would avoid buildings by simply turning to the right or left and Henry would follow suit as well, so as not to lose it’s trail.

And Henry thought it would do the same as well, but to Henry’s surprise, it didn’t. The sonic suddenly accelerated and actually doubled it’s current speed making Henry wonder just how fast it was.

It ran headfirst into the building area and climbed the surface, running across the side of the building with intense speed and relentlessness.

Henry didn’t know if he could run on the side of buildings yet, but he didn’t want to lose the beast’s trail so he followed suite. He couldn’t use dash at the moment because it was already in it’s cooldown mode. So he climbed the building and ran on it’s side with his current speed.

At first it seemed fine and easy, although he had to put in more effort and stamina to run across it, and luckily his stamina never depleted while he ran, so he had nothing to worry about, or so he thought

Henry kept pushing through gravity, running at full speed, trying to catch up to the sonic who had successfully climbed the building and reached the other side. Henry kept running and breathing heavily, hoping when the building would end, but it never did.

"Wait! Why I’m i getting tired? I thought running didn’t burn my sta..." he thought but was interrupted by a sudden notification from the system

[Time perception is now dormant]

Henry’s eyes widened in shock "Fuck! The time perception has been active this whole time! I had no idea!" he exclaimed in his head, sweat forming on his forehead

He gritted his teeth and put on a look of determination "I can make it, i must! If not everything would be for nothing." he thought as he pushed his body further, trying to get to the top of the building which was now only 20 meters away

He struggled to cover the remaining small distance and he did, well almost.

Henry suddenly felt his body jolt, it was like a seizure but it only happened for a second pausing every single muscle in his body including his arms and legs. And this caused an immediate stop in his momentum, eradicating both his motion and balance, his feet now detached from the side of the building.

"What the?" he thought as his body fell "How did this happen? I was so close!" he mumbled before the system appeared with a prompt

"It was my stamina afterall, ofcourse it is. It’s always this fucking stamina that cause my downfall... Uh, the irony." Henry thought as his body fell through the sky at a very fast rate. He wasn’t doing anything about it, he was just too tired to even move, so he just watched as he fell to his demise.
