CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 224: Coming After You
After breakfast, everyone, except Theo who went to his own office, went to work together. To their surprise, when they arrived at the Welsh Holdings building, reporters were still outside eagerly waiting for Amy and Henry.
Mary, who was sitting behind Anton who was driving, asked him, "Why are they still here? What do they want?"
"I think they are being paid to gather here, possibly to divert our attention from the suspect. They have been questioning employees about unrelated matters, trying to mislead everyone," Anton replied.
"Isn’t that considered harassment? Can’t we have them arrested or take legal action against them?" Sandra asked, seated in the passenger seat next to Mary and Maya.
"Unfortunately, we can’t do that just yet. Certain conditions must be met for us to involve the police, and they haven’t crossed that line yet. They’re being very cautious. The law in this country also provides significant protection to the media, so it’s not easy to dismiss them," Rei explained.
Rei immediately contacted the building’s security team through the radio, requesting them to clear a path for them to enter without being approached by the reporters.
They all walked as quickly as possible to evade the people trying to ask them questions. However, one reporter managed to break through the human barrier created by the security guards.
"Mr. Welsh! Mr. Welsh! Is it true that the accident was orchestrated to boost your wife’s company’s popularity? To attract customers when the Bellory Cafe branches open?" the reporter inquired.
Henry, who was walking behind the others, stopped in his tracks and faced the reporter. This caused the others to push through the human barrier, eager to capture the moment on their cameras and microphones.
Little did they know, they had touched a nerve, as the question made Henry furious.
Henry gazed at the nearest camera and exclaimed, "Stop this nonsense, or you will all regret it! And you," referring to the suspect, "I know who you are, and I’m coming after you!" Henry then turned around.
Before resuming his walk, he faced Anton and Rei, who were standing beside him, and commanded, "I want the names of all these people. I want them fired today. And if their company refuses to terminate their employment, I want to withdraw all my investments from that network. I don’t care about the law; I’ll pay the fines. Just ensure that these individuals will never work in any media networks again," Henry’s voice echoed loudly, making it audible to everyone present.
The reporters and their team stood frozen in their spots, watching Henry approach Amy, who was already surrounded by Ava, Mitch, and Dave at the main entrance. Once the Welsh couple entered the building, Rei turned towards the reporters and, without saying a word, the people started scattering in a panic. They hastily gathered their belongings and hurried towards their cars and vans.
"Hey! Don’t go! I still need your names! I’m willing to answer your questions now if you just give me your names!" Rei called out sarcastically.
He chuckled one last time alongside the guards before turning around and heading inside the building.
"Are you truly going to insist on their termination?" Amy inquired as Henry joined them.
"Yes, unless they offer a public apology," Henry replied, then turned to Anton. "I want the apologies captured on video. I won’t accept written apologies. And ensure they are published on their respective network websites and TV programs," Henry stated before stepping into the elevator.
Anton playfully whistled and remarked, "That’s quite brutal..."
Henry smirked in response. "I ignored them for years, but now that I’m starting my own family, they won’t get away with it anymore."
Mary and Sandra looked at each other with a smile on their faces, feeling thankful that their beloved Amy has her own protector now and someone she can rely on.
Their attention turned to the door upon reaching Amy’s office floor.
"Amy, I won’t accompany you any more to your office. I have an important meeting, I trust that you are well secured already in our building, so I won’t see you off anymore," Henry said.
"That is fine, I’m a big girl, I can handle myself. Plus, it will be awkward if you are with me when my employees welcome me back. A little bird tweeted that there’s a very well-planned surprise welcome party that will greet me this morning," Amy winked at Henry before kissing him to say goodbye before stepping out of the elevator.
And Amy’s prediction came true. As soon as they entered the door, confetti and ribbons rained down from above while the employees shouted, "Welcome back to work, Mrs. Welsh!" This time, it was a genuine celebration, unlike the impromptu one during her previous visit.
Bellory Inc. was in full swing that day, and numerous employees, including some that Amy hadn’t met before, were present. She was thrilled to see new faces, carefully studying each one to commit their faces to memory. As she observed them, Amy could sense their joy in meeting their boss and CEO.
Earning money for Jayson had once been only a dream, but instead, she has more than what she had asked for. Amy is delighted she can even provide jobs to others as well.
After delivering a brief speech to the employees, Amy began strolling around the floor, warmly greeting each of them. Kevin volunteered to accompany her, eager to introduce her to branch managers and other employees.
Amy agreed, knowing that Kevin was the ideal person for the task, considering he had been working closely with these individuals in recent days.
Meanwhile, Ava and her team kept a watchful eye on their boss, never wavering their attention. Mary, too, observed the interaction between Amy and Kevin intently, monitoring their every move like a hawk.
"Amy, I’m glad you’re not like other CEOs out there," Kevin remarked briefly.
"What do you mean?" Amy inquired.
Kevin responded, "You know, most CEOs tend to be snobbish and arrogant. Your husband could learn a thing or two from you."
Amy let out an awkward chuckle, attempting to change the subject. "I’ll definitely teach him. By the way, will you be present at all the openings?"
"Yes, I will. It’s part of my job as an Operations Manager," Kevin confirmed. "And how about you? Will you be doing the same?"
"Yes, I will," Amy replied before they proceeded to meet the other employees.
