Common Sense Hijack System-Chapter 66
Chapter 66: Chapter 66
Karl was so bewildered, his body tense with anticipation. "They..." Karl trailed off, lost for words.
John, the leader of the Homo Obscura group, smirked smugly. "Found yourself a new victim, Karl?" his gaze full of challenge.
Just when the tension was high, a notification popped up that Karl hadn’t heard in days.

[ Uncommon Deal ]
> Description: Get Valencia on your side with a strange deal.
- Reward: 1000 Hijack Points, 500 XP.
---
Karl felt even more confused after that notification appeared.
His mind was spinning, filled with various considerations. "Uncommon Deal"? The system always seemed to throw missions at the most inconvenient times. He glanced over at Valencia, who was now staring at John and his team with sharp eyes, her slim sword aimed with hidden threat. Forming an alliance with Valencia - a creature almost impossible to predict - was no easy task. But if the system deemed it valuable, there might be a strong reason behind it.
Valencia furrowed her brow, her gaze sharp, able to identify them without explanation from Karl. "So, the Obscura dare to show their faces here, huh?" Her voice low but full of menace.
John smirked smugly, completely unfazed by her attitude. "What’s all this about? Defending that despicable human huh? Damn Noctis." He signaled to Chloe and Amber, who stood by his side brimming with confidence.
Karl’s mind raced, trying to find a way to navigate the situation without provoking further hostility from both sides. Beside him, Layla looked increasingly tense, her grip on Karl’s hand tightening as she watched the three Obscura with growing concern.
"Valencia," Karl began cautiously. "I know you don’t care about human affairs... or about anything, maybe. But these Obscura"—he shot a sharp look at John—"they’ve been hunting me like an animal. You might not be their target now, but what happens when they see you just as another threat?"
Valencia raised an eyebrow, seemingly intrigued by Karl’s direction. "Go on, Karl."
Feeling a bit of attention, Karl stepped forward, Layla staying guard behind him. "I’m not just a scared victim. And these Obscura"—he glared at John with concealed hatred—"they abducted me and disrupted my life purpose. Karl acted as though he had an important mission, even though he had only planned to make an adult video with someone else’s wife in the past.
John snorted, his eyes narrowed with mockery. "Don’t waste your time on that despicable man! He’ll say anything to save himself."
Valencia shifted her gaze from Karl to John, then back to Karl, her expression becoming more stern. "I’ve lived by carefully choosing my entertainment. But..." She pointed her sword at John, its tip gleaming in the dim light. "Maybe now is the time I get a little reckless hehehe..."
The tension escalated, and John’s confident smile began to fade. Chloe and Amber exchanged glances, visibly disturbed by Valencia’s change in demeanor.
Karl saw an opportunity. "Valencia," he said with a soft but firm voice, "we both know this world... is boring. But there’s more to it than just surviving. Join us, and maybe you’ll find something out of your routine that’s endlessly fascinating. A purpose, maybe my purpose will entertain you!"
Valencia gazed deeply into his eyes, a mix of curiosity and a faint smile in her eyes. "A purpose? From a human?" She laughed, her tone sharp yet subtly showing interest. "Fine. Entertain me, Karl. But know this: if you fail to entertain me, I will disappear as fast as I came."
John growled, stepping forward, his eyes gleaming with anger. "I won’t let this foolish alliance persist." He attacked, his knife aimed directly at Karl’s throat.
But Valencia moved faster. In one smooth motion, she blocked John’s attack, her sword hissing as she easily fended off the blow. "Tsk, Obscura," she hissed. "Have you forgotten your boundaries."
Chloe and Amber moved closer to help John, but Karl and Layla immediately acted, protecting Valencia’s back. The battle erupted, filling the dim room with the clang of metal, cries of pain, and desperate efforts to survive.
Valencia fought like a storm, her moves graceful yet deadly. Karl found himself watching the rhythm, following Valencia’s movements as she defended against the three Obscura. For the first time, he felt they truly had a chance. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
Amidst the chaos, the system’s notification rang again.

> Valencia’s interest in you has increased. Maintain her interest by showing courage and skill in combat.
---
Karl felt his resolve burning, ready to face whatever came his way. With Valencia by his side and Layla protecting his back, he realized this might not be just an ordinary battle - it was a test, not only to survive but also to forge an alliance in the shadows of the night.
----
In the midst of the battle, Chloe glanced at Karl and darted towards him.
"Undead Platinum."
Crank...
Karl bit his lip, holding back the pain as one of Chloe’s attacks almost hit his stomach. He twisted his body, evading the blow and quickly swung Undead Platinum. "Layla, you better step back!" Karl shouted, moving swiftly to avoid John’s counterattack, now more aggressive.
Layla, seeming more alert to the situation, nodded without saying a word. She seized every opportunity in the battle to retreat, allowing Karl to move freely with Undead Platinum. But what caught Karl’s attention the most was how Valencia moved beside Undead Platinum, unfazed by the chaos around her, not even startled by the appearance of Undead Platinum. Her movements were so swift, as if every swing of her sword were programmed, leaving no opening to be caught or countered.
"Impressive," thought Karl, his mouth slightly agape. He had never seen someone fight with such grace and precision. Valencia almost seemed to relish every battle, like a predator finding worthy prey.
John, feeling cornered, tried to distract Valencia with quick attacks. He leaped forward, trying to stab at Valencia’s chest. Yet, in an instant, Valencia raised her sword and blocked the attack with such a casual movement. "Keep attacking," Valencia jeered, her gaze mocking towards a tiring John.
Karl took advantage of John’s helplessness to make Undead Platinum more aggressive. He made Undead Platinum step to the left, dodging Amber’s attack heading towards him, and quickly thrusting his sword towards Chloe’s leg. Chloe fell to the ground, screaming in pain as Karl’s sword nearly hit her knee joint.
With that strike, the three Obscura began to back off slightly, trapped in a worse position. But even as they were cornered, John still looked determined. "You think you’ve won? This is just the beginning!" he roared in frustration.
Valencia glanced at Karl, a small smile playing on her lips. "You know," she said as she stepped forward, "I’m not interested in easy battles. But maybe... I can let you live longer if you manage to entertain me."
Karl felt a weight lifted off his shoulders. Praise from Valencia, even in the form of jest, brought an unexpected sense of relief. But he knew it wasn’t the time to let his guard down. "We’re not just victims for entertainment, bitch!" he responded confidently. "We have noble goals. We want to protect humanity from that despicable man, we want to make this world a little better."
Valencia arched an eyebrow, intrigued by Karl’s words. "Make the world better?" She chuckled lightly, pointing her sword towards the increasingly infuriated John. "I want to see how far this folly can go."
But as the attacks intensified and the battle entered a more brutal phase, Karl felt something strange. The system once again gave a notification that took his breath away.

[ Important Notice ]
> Valencia is showing deep interest in your courage in battle. Your next decision will determine if she will truly join your side.
Attention: Don’t get caught up in emotions or confusion. Your decision in this battle will shape your future.
---
Karl’s heart raced. He knew, this was the moment to show more than just courage. It was a time to demonstrate his purpose, intentions, and carve an alliance that went beyond mere physical combat. If Valencia saw that potential, she might join them. But if he failed, all this struggle would be in vain.
John, growing tired and frustrated, tried to attack again, this time more recklessly. Karl saw the opening. With a quick movement, he dodged and turned, targeting his attack at John’s weak spot. But as Karl’s sword was about to hit John’s body, Valencia stepped forward, touching the tip of her sword to Karl’s wrist, stopping his assault.
"Are you really sure you want to end this now?" Valencia asked, her eyes locked with Karl’s in a puzzle. "I want to know if you have more than just weird undead to entertain me."
Karl took a deep breath, his eyes meeting Valencia’s, and for the first time, he felt he truly understood what it took to achieve his goals. "Sure, Valencia," he said with a calmer voice, though trembling with anxiety. "It’s about vengeance!"
Valencia didn’t answer immediately. Silence. Everything in the room, even their enemies, seemed to wait for the final decision.
"Fine," Valencia finally said, a faint smile on her face. "I’ll give you a chance. Prove to me that you’re not just surviving and have a purpose that can alleviate my boredom!"
With that, the battle continued, but now with a greater purpose. Karl knew that today’s victory didn’t necessarily mean the end of everything. But with Valencia now on their side, the possibility of changing the course of this battle had dramatically increased.
As Karl began to focus on Undead Platinum and give commands, Amber quickly darted towards Karl.
"I will kill your bitch!" Amber shouted.
