Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 100: The Two Decide to Cheer Up the Empress Dowager First
"Why can’t we change tactics?" Nina White pulled her arm, whispering mysteriously in her ear, "Look to your right, at three o’clock. That person can definitely help you."
"What are you up to again?"
Tina Huxley, whose patience was wearing thin, reluctantly followed her suggestion and looked up. When she saw who was standing there at three o’clock, she immediately gave a playful smile, "I understand what you mean now."
"Good that you do," Nina White nudged her shoulder, "Knowing that, why are you still standing here? This is your big chance to make a good impression. Haven’t you watched palace dramas for nothing? The Empress Dowager often arranges concubines for the Little Emperor."
Tina Huxley couldn’t help but add, "But normally, the concubines arranged by the Empress Dowager aren’t what the Little Emperor wants."
"Not necessarily," Nina White tapped her forehead, "Tell yourself something nice. Your urgent task now is to become Mrs. Sinclair first. Matters of love can be discussed later—marriage first and love later can be quite romantic."
Moved by the suggestion, Tina Huxley’s eyes flickered slightly, "How come I never realized you have such a talent for scheming?"
Nina White rolled her eyes at her, "Stop babbling and notice that Mrs. Sinclair is about to leave. Go have a ’chance’ encounter, and remember not to overact."
Not far away, Maxim Sinclair’s mother was carrying a Himalayan bag, chatting and laughing with another elegant lady.
Tina Huxley and Nina White quickly strategized and decided to take a shortcut to get ahead of Mrs. Sinclair, making their encounter seem more genuine.
After discussing it, just as Tina Huxley was about to move forward, Nina White pulled her back again, "Hold on, to be safe, let’s not get ahead of her. There are so many people in this mall; I’m afraid we might accidentally lose track of Mrs. Sinclair."
Tina Huxley thought it made sense and agreed, "Then I’ll just go over as I am. I’m her junior, so it’s reasonable for me to approach her and greet her."
"Then go quickly," Nina White pushed her forward, "I’ll go with you. If you need my help, just wink at me, and I’ll be your wingman."
While speaking, they were already just a meter or two away from Mrs. Sinclair.
Tina Huxley quickly glanced at her reflection in the glass beside them, and once she confirmed there was nothing inappropriate about her appearance, she walked over with a gentle smile, eyes filled with surprise, "Aunt Sinclair?"
Addressed by name, Mrs. Sinclair turned with puzzlement. Seeing it was Tina Huxley, she too showed a surprised smile, "Isn’t this the Huxley family’s Tina? What a coincidence. Are you here shopping with a friend?"
Tina Huxley pursed her lips and smiled, waving for Nina White to come over, "Yes, Aunt Sinclair, my friend and I came shopping, and I didn’t expect to meet you here. When did you return to the country? Just a few days ago, at Aunt Venus’s banquet at Clearwater Mountain Villa, people mentioned you, saying you weren’t there."
Nina White stepped forward and bent down to greet Mrs. Sinclair.
Mrs. Sinclair cheerfully linked arms with Tina Huxley, "You came just in time. I was just worried about not finding someone to shop with, and here you two are. If you’re not in a hurry, why don’t you both accompany me shopping?"
What a godsend opportunity!
Nina White, from a viewpoint where Mrs. Sinclair couldn’t see, threw an encouraging look at Tina Huxley.
Go for it, this is a great opportunity for you!
"Sure, Aunt Sinclair," Tina Huxley slightly tilted her head, playfully nudging Mrs. Sinclair with her hair, "I haven’t seen you in ages, Aunt Sinclair."
Seeing her being so affectionate, Mrs. Sinclair was delighted, lovingly touching Tina Huxley’s hair, "Every time I see you, I regret having a son instead of a daughter. Daughters are definitely more considerate!"
"Aunt Sinclair, you’re as humble as ever. Maxim is incredibly capable! Among people our age, there’s no one better than Maxim!"
The two flattered each other back and forth.
After a while, Nina White took advantage of Mrs. Sinclair entering the fitting room to change clothes and sidled up to Tina Huxley, teasing in a low voice, "I notice you get along well with this ’Empress Dowager.’ Keep at it, and maybe you’ll hear the Empress Dowager proclaiming you as a concubine for the Little Emperor soon."
Tina Huxley watched Mrs. Sinclair changing clothes, then turned around and whispered with her hand over her mouth, "That’s because you’ve seen her too few times. Mrs. Sinclair is used to saying pleasant things. What she just said to me, I’ve seen her say to others too."
Nina White, not understanding, smirked, "If that’s the case, you have quite a lot of competition!"
This reminded Tina Huxley of the high-society women who attended Sinclair Family banquets with ulterior motives.
She couldn’t let them take Maxim Sinclair away.
An idea popped into Tina Huxley’s head, and she turned to ask Nina White, "Do you think if I give her a significant gift, she’ll understand my intentions?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"That depends on how significant the gift is," Nina White frowned thoughtfully, "The Sinclair Family is rich and influential. If you give an ordinary gift, Mrs. Sinclair might not take notice, unless the gift is noteworthy enough for her to wonder why you gave something so substantial, and then we’d have something to talk about."
Thinking it over, Tina Huxley found some sense in her reasoning, "That’s perfect. My dad recently acquired a bracelet at an auction, and I heard that Mrs. Sinclair was interested in bidding for it too."
"You can try," Nina White said, giving her a hint with her eyes, "Your future mother-in-law is out of the fitting room. Prepare your compliments and go greet her!"
Tina Huxley turned around to see Mrs. Sinclair, who had finished changing, looking in the mirror. She mentally rehearsed some flattering words and walked over with a smile, "Aunt Sinclair, this dress color suits you so well! If I remember correctly, this kind of color is particularly picky! I didn’t expect it to look so good on you!"
"Nonsense, you sweet-talker trying to deceive me," Mrs. Sinclair teased her, "This color is too bright. I wouldn’t dare wear it out!"
"Why not!" Tina Huxley called over Nina White, "Nina, look, doesn’t Aunt Sinclair look especially good in this color?"
Facing the expectant gazes of the two, Nina White, composed as ever, gave a thumbs-up, "It looks great. This is the first time I’ve seen someone pull off peacock blue without a hitch. Most people wouldn’t dare to try this color."
The two of them continued to adulate Mrs. Sinclair, who was grinning from ear to ear.
