Chapter 99: Chapter 99: Tina Tries Everything to Get Close to Maxim Sinclair

Charles paused briefly while putting on his coat, and said meaningfully, "Okay, I’ve taken your advice."

After finishing, he took the medical card handed by Dr. Jacobs and left the room.

Outside the room, Charles didn’t rush to leave. Instead, he moved slowly, observing the surroundings with a meticulous gaze.

After looking around, his gaze locked onto the stairwell about ten meters away on his right.

He lifted his foot, walking step by step toward the stairwell. When he reached the corner, he stopped, looking with complex emotions at the shadow cast by the sunlight from the window.

Charles was so concentrated on watching the shadow on the ground that he did not notice the shy and timid glances of the nurse at the reception desk behind him.

From the moment he walked out of the consulting room, the nurse’s gaze had been fixed on him.

Seeing him standing still, the nurse couldn’t help but walk over, "Sir, do you need any assistance?"

The shadow on the ground moved, heading outward.

Charles slowly lifted his head, following the shadow’s movement, his face full of anticipation as he stared at the corner of the wall.

The nurse didn’t receive a response, a trace of frustration crossing her delicately drawn brows, and she unwillingly asked again, "Sir, are you facing any difficulties and need our help?"

Charles, who only wanted to see the face of the shadow’s owner, didn’t notice anyone speaking to him at all.

Seeing him still lost in thought, the nurse simply stepped in front of him, blocking his view, "Sir?"

This annoyed Charles, who furrowed his brows and turned his cold face away, thinking for a moment. He then stepped around the nurse, focusing on the right side of the wall.

It was a tall, unfamiliar woman.

Not Vivian Sullivan.

Disappointed, Charles withdrew his gaze, then turned around, unwilling to give up, and looked around. After a while, he quickly walked down the stairs.

The nurse, embarrassed by her failure to strike up a conversation, turned pale with anger, "What kind of person is that? So rude, he doesn’t even bother to respond when you talk to him."

The nurse turned her head, grumbling softly as she walked back to her station. After a couple of steps, she stopped, greeting Vivian Sullivan with a smile, "Dr. Sullivan, why are you standing outside?"

Vivian Sullivan withdrew her gaze from the stairwell, nodded politely to the nurse, and said, "I just got back from taking a call."

The nurse noticed something was off in her gaze and quickly explained out of guilt, "Just now, there was a gentleman standing there spacing out. I kindly went to ask about his situation, only to find he didn’t respond to me at all."

Vivian Sullivan opened her mouth to say there’s no need to explain, but rationality pulled her back in time. She swallowed the words she was about to utter and replaced them with another message, "It seems there’s a patient looking for you."

Upon hearing this, the nurse immediately looked up and saw that a patient had indeed reached the reception desk, then quickly ran over.

Outside the hospital, before Charles drove away, he couldn’t help but look back at the outpatient building, "Vivian Sullivan, I didn’t expect you would already come to Stellarion."

Inside the outpatient building, Vivian Sullivan lowered her head and sighed lightly. Dr. Jacobs, who had just sent a patient off, saw this and asked with concern, "What’s wrong? Have you encountered a patient that’s hard to handle? Do you need my help?"

Vivian Sullivan rubbed her nose, gently declining his kindness, "No, nothing."

It’s just a persistent man!

In the mall, Tina Huxley clung to her friend’s arm, covering her mouth with the other hand as she yawned, "You should’ve given me a heads-up about going shopping. You dragged me up early in the morning, if not for you being my good sister, I wouldn’t have come to your date."

Nina White, whom she was holding onto, reached out to pat her face, "You really are talking nonsense with your eyes open. When I called you out to play, it was almost ten o’clock. Whose morning is at ten?"

"Why didn’t you ask what time I went to bed last night?" Tina still felt incredibly sleepy, so tired that she didn’t want to walk any further, "Let’s not talk about that now. Let’s first find a nearby café, let me have some coffee to awaken myself, and then I’ll accompany you to buy clothes, okay?"

Seeing her so tired, Nina had no choice but to comply, "Hang in there a bit longer. I remember there’s a café just ahead, let’s go sit there."

Inside the café, Nina watched Tina, who was resting on the table, took a nap and sighed helplessly, "Why are you so tired? What time did you go to bed last night? You didn’t sleep right before dawn, did you?"

"Almost," Tina extended a hand showing a number, "I was busy with work; couldn’t sleep until I finished."

"Oh dear," Nina snatched her up demonstratively, "Since when did you become such a workaholic?"

"I can’t help it, it’s a very important project."

Nina kept chatting with her, dispelling most of Tina’s sleepiness.

Just then, the waiter brought the coffee over, and Tina hugged the coffee cup, drinking multiple sips.

Nina accompanied her for a while, holding onto her cup, and then, with a gossipy expression, leaned in, "If I remember correctly, this project collaborates with the Sinclair Group, right?"

Tina nodded, "It’s the project I mentioned to you before, the one collaborating with Sinclair Group. Both sides are watching too closely, and I don’t dare to slack off."

Not interested in the work content, Nina put down her cup and brought up another matter, "Let’s not talk about work now; tell me, how far have you gotten with Maxim Sinclair?"

"You sure are boosting my ego," Tina chuckled bitterly and shook her head, "How far have I gotten with him? I haven’t even seen him these days. This project’s supposed to be discussed with him personally, but every time it’s his assistant who shows up. Just the other day, when discussing funding issues, for once, it wasn’t the assistant meeting me but his vice president, Charles."

"Can’t be this difficult, right?" Nina’s eyes flashed in disbelief, "Tina, the young lady’s charm can’t be so limited!"

"Who knows," Tina showed some depression, "Trying so hard to chase someone, it really sucks!"

Trying hard but not getting a response is truly hurtful.

Nina sympathetically patted her hand, "Why don’t you just go bluntly for a straightforward move? Stop taking such a roundabout approach through work. What if he doesn’t catch your hints and thinks you’re only talking business? Then wouldn’t all your efforts be wasted?"

Having thrown a straightforward move before and getting politely refused, Tina had no intention of revisiting the black history, "Forget it, let’s talk later. We’re in the middle of discussing work now; it’s not the time to change tactics."
