Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Summer Lowell’s Confidence

"Alright, demand as much as possible, Sinclair Group has plenty of money anyway." Summer Lowell nodded and said to the HR director, "Sinclair just poached two of my most important designers, which might lead to the termination of one of our company’s S-level projects. Take a look at the contracts and try to get Sinclair Group to cough up more money."

"Rest assured, Director Lowell, I’ve already called someone from the legal department; he will be here shortly."

"Alright, I’ll leave this matter to you."

Summer Lowell gave the HR director a polite smile, gestured to her assistant, and without a glance at the two poached designers, got up and left.

After leaving the conference room, Summer Lowell went to the workstations of Dawn and Alan, personally overseeing Assistant Fletcher as he backed up all files related to the Four Seasons project, and then deleted everything. She also made sure Assistant Fletcher dismantled the two people’s computers and brought them to her office.

After finishing these tasks, Summer Lowell locked herself in her office and stationed Assistant Fletcher at the door to block anyone trying to find her.

The commotion was so great that even if Assistant Fletcher wanted to keep it from the designers in the department, she couldn’t.

Besides, Summer Lowell never intended to hide it from them.

Two hours later, an anxious Assistant Fletcher at her workstation finally received a message from Summer Lowell to come in.

"Director, here’s your coffee."

"Hmm, thank you," Summer Lowell, standing by the printer, reached out to accept the coffee, sipping it slowly, "Is it lively outside now?" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

"It’s alright, they are still restrained. At least on the surface, they all seem to be working seriously. I can’t be sure if they’re slacking off privately."

Summer Lowell chuckled softly, "Aren’t you in their private group?"

Assistant Fletcher shook her head, "I wasn’t in the design department before, and I only met these designers not long ago, so I’m not in their private chat group."

"What a pity, I was hoping you could see what they’re chatting about," Summer Lowell sighed, half-jokingly, "Do you think they’re speculating on when I’ll pack up and leave?"

"Absolutely not," Assistant Fletcher, with a reassuring confidence, shook her head firmly, "I believe in you, Director. You can definitely get through this, even though it’s tough."

"There’s a question I’ve been meaning to ask you," Summer Lowell held her coffee cup, tilted her head slightly, and looked at her with curiosity, "Where does your confidence in me come from?"

The day after Summer Lowell parachuted in as director here, the HR director brought in Assistant Fletcher, suggesting she use her for now, and if unsuitable, they could choose a new assistant.

Then, because of her outstanding performance, Summer Lowell kept her as her official assistant.

Although it appeared from the outside that they had an incredible rapport, they had known each other for only a few months.

"I have to believe you will win," Assistant Fletcher hugged the file unconsciously, "Only if you win can I continue being an assistant here. I don’t want to go back to my original department; I don’t like it there."

"Your answer... is a bit unexpected, but I like it," Summer Lowell raised her cup towards her.

Assistant Fletcher smiled shyly, taking the empty cup from Summer Lowell’s hand, and as she watched her organize several printed pages, asked casually, "What are these?"

"Useful stuff. When you called President Norris earlier, what was he up to?"

"He had just finished a meeting, and there’s another meeting for half an hour. But right now," Assistant Fletcher checked the time, "the meeting should just be over."

"That’s good. I have something to discuss with him." Summer Lowell said, heading out.

"But Director Lowell, several people came looking for you earlier, each seeming quite anxious."

"I don’t have time to meet them unless it’s related to the two S-level projects. You handle it." Summer Lowell went behind a desk, took off her shoes, and changed into formal high heels, "Also, those people probably aren’t here for legitimate reasons, most are here to gather information, right?"

Assistant Fletcher, sharing the same suspicion, nodded then shook her head, "I’ll selectively block them."

"Hmm, I don’t have time for them now, you handle it as you see fit."

Upstairs at the CEO’s office.

Noah, who had just finished talking to the HR director, was standing by the window enjoying the view. Seeing Summer Lowell arrive, he waved her over, "Director Lowell, come here. Near noon, the view from here is fantastic."

"Is there good news? President Norris seems to be in a good mood." Summer Lowell walked over, glanced outside, but couldn’t see anything special.

"There’s no good news! Well, maybe half. The HR director, following your instructions, extracted a hefty compensation from Sinclair Group."

Summer Lowell gave a cursory smile, "I have to remind you, President Norris, because Sinclair Group poached the two most important designers from the Four Seasons project team, this week, the project might not proceed."

"This week it might not proceed." Noah repeated slowly, then asked the key question, "What about next week?"

"Give me a week, and I’ll figure out how to deal with the current situation." Summer Lowell did not give a direct response.

Noah rubbed the ornament in his hand, and after a while, asked, "Summer, tell me the truth, can this project still proceed?"

"It can, but it will be troublesome." Summer Lowell answered quickly, indicating she had thought it through countless times before coming.

"Are you serious?" Noah stared at her sternly, "I want to know if you’re genuinely confident this project can continue, or are you risking the company’s interests out of spite?"

Summer Lowell smiled slightly and asked back, "Would you, President Norris, be willing to swallow this indignity?"

"Well... I’m indeed not quite willing, but the shareholders at headquarters are even harder to deal with. I’m no longer young and past the age of acting on impulse."

"Rest assured, President Norris, you appreciate me so much; I would never let you down. If I believe the project can continue, then it definitely can, and I’m willing to bear any consequences." Summer Lowell said as she handed the papers to Noah, "President Norris, take a look."

Noah, momentarily taken aback by her bold words, received the papers and, after carefully perusing them twice, finally revealed a hint of a smile, "Not bad, I knew I made the right choice with you."

"As long as you trust me, President Norris," Summer Lowell also relaxed, "then let’s put the Four Seasons project on hold for a few days. By next week at the latest, I’ll get this project running again."

"Alright, just remember what you said." Noah casually handed the papers back to her.
