Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 70: Unable to Let Go, Secretly Taking Care of Her
"But President Norris, you also know that both projects’ failures are related to the Sinclair Group, and I took important data from Maxim Sinclair back then. It’s only natural for him to hold a grudge against me, especially since he clearly stated he wanted to see me pay for it."
Speaking of this, Stellart did feel somewhat at fault.
"This is the company’s fault. We made a wrong decision back then, sending you to complete such a task, leading to lingering troubles even now."
Noah stood up and personally poured her a cup of tea, placing it by her hand. "For this reason alone, Stellart cannot give up on you under any circumstances."
Upon hearing this, Summer Lowell looked up seriously at Noah. "President Norris, what do you mean?"
"I mean, the rumors about you these past two days have been quite odd. I will personally investigate this matter, so please don’t worry," Noah gently explained.
Summer nodded, her feelings mixed. "I didn’t expect that you, President Norris, would still be willing to believe in me."
"What are you saying? Haven’t I already told you before? I believe in your heart that wants the company to do well."
As Noah spoke, he suddenly leaned in closer, looking concerned at Summer. "Why do you look so unwell? Haven’t you been sleeping well these past few days? Are you sick?"
"It’s not serious. I just had a slight fever yesterday during the day, probably caught a cold with the season change," Summer smiled weakly. "I just took some medicine before coming to work this morning, so it should be fine now."
"It doesn’t look like it," Noah shook his head, picking up his phone from the side. "I’ll have my assistant take you to the hospital. You don’t seem fine, and with things still unresolved, you can’t collapse."
"I’m really fine," Summer stopped his action, "Thank you, President Norris, for your concern."
Seeing her insistence on not going to the hospital, Noah had no choice but to withdraw his hand. After thinking for a moment, he said, "How about this, since there isn’t anything important in the design department right now, I’ll give you a few days off. You should go home and rest well for a few days."
Immediately, fearing she might overthink it, Noah spoke up again: "It’s not about sidelining you. I’m giving you a week to recuperate, and during this time, I’ll be checking up on who in the design department is causing trouble, so we can trace who is connecting with outsiders to sabotage us."
"That’s also fine," Summer smiled faintly. "I was worried this was a disguised way of firing me, but hearing President Norris’s explanation, I’m relieved."
"Rest assured," Noah stood up and walked to a table nearby, pulling out a folder and handing it to Summer. "Inside are the lists of designers from the design department and some assistants’ details. If you’re bored while recuperating, you can look it over and see if anything suspicious comes to mind. If you do, remember to tell me promptly."
"I understand," Summer took the folder. "I’ll leave this matter to you, President Norris."
"No need to be formal," Noah laughed heartily. "As I said, don’t put too much pressure on yourself. I will handle this matter. Apart from those two S-level projects, there are four or five lower-priority projects in the design department that are still important. Recover quickly so you can return to work soon."
Understanding his good intentions, Summer was about to refuse the suggestion to go home and recuperate: "Actually, I’m really fine. Since the design department has so many projects..."
"Stop right there!"
Noah raised his hand, looking at Summer with a resigned expression. "You don’t need to push yourself so hard. Once I’ve cleaned up the design department, returning won’t be too late. If we don’t clean it up, who knows what will happen in the future."
And just like that, Summer was passively given a whole week off.
With nothing to do, she took the list Noah instructed her to look at and returned home.
Having worked high-intensity for so long, Summer suddenly had free time, resulting in her mild cold persisting and returning fiercely, transforming into a severe cold.
Feeling dizzy, Summer put down the list she brought home, rummaged through her medicine box to find some medicine, and swallowed some with hot water before sluggishly throwing herself onto the bed, wrapping tightly in the blanket to sleep.
Based on her past illness experience, during a severe cold, she would take some cold medicine with hot water, wrap herself in a blanket to sleep well, and wake up cured.
Two hours later.
Maxim Sinclair quietly closed the room door, removed his shoes, and walked cautiously inside.
As he passed by the dining table, he noticed the pile of medicine boxes on the table, showing concern on his face. He quickly walked to the bedroom door, pushed it open, and went in to check the situation.
On the large bed in the bedroom, Summer, wrapped in a blanket, turned over with a flushed face, looking very uncomfortable.
Maxim quickly walked to the bedside, touched her forehead, and after checking her temperature, immediately took out his phone to call his assistant. "I’ll send you the address. Have the private doctor sent over to me immediately."
The assistant on the other end quickly agreed.
Soon, the assistant had the private doctor sent to Summer’s residence.
"Her face looks very red, and her forehead feels burning hot. Please check whether the situation is serious and if she needs to be sent to the hospital."
The private doctor efficiently took Summer’s temperature and completed some checks, saying, "President Sinclair, she’s not in any serious condition, but Miss Lowell has been quite exhausted recently, hasn’t she?"
Maxim nodded with a complex expression. "Yes, not just a little exhausted; she practically worked herself to the bone. She’s so hard on herself!"
"That explains it," the private doctor said, opening his medical kit to take out an intravenous needle and medication. "She was too exhausted before, which is why she’s sick now. I’ll give her an IV to reduce the fever. As for the rest, a light diet and a few days of rest should make her feel better. Miss Lowell’s physical health is quite good, nothing major."
"Okay, get to it," Maxim urged.
Once the doctor was done, Maxim instructed Assistant Collins, "It’s late, escort Dr. Adler home with the bodyguards."
He then returned to Summer’s bedroom.
The medication in the IV administered by Dr. Adler took effect quickly. When Maxim returned, Summer’s forehead had started to sweat.
Maxim went to the bathroom in the bedroom, fetched several towels, then sat by the bed, carefully wiping the sweat from her forehead.
Looking at her hand with the intravenous needle, he frowned and gently held it.
"Little fox, was I too harsh? But if you would willingly return to my side, there would be no need for me to press you like this."
Maxim paused briefly, "Yes, I admit, I’m not over you because you were the first woman I ever loved and will be the last..." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
And so, Maxim sat by the bed until the sky began to lighten. Once Summer’s temperature returned to normal, he quietly left.
The drowsiness from the cold medicine, along with the prolonged lack of rest, made Summer sleep till midday the next day.
