Damned Healer-Chapter 493: He Was Unlucky
Darian was about to break through the White Blood army's defenses all by himself… an army that, counting the ones chasing from behind and the ones waiting ahead, numbered in the millions?
There were hundreds of beings with nine circles, and countless others with eight, coming from every direction. That kind of formation could kill anyone.
When they heard his command, everyone froze — except for Niara, who happily ordered the retreat, then stood back to watch the show with a smile on her face. Everyone pulled back to the Ring of Life, took their positions, and kept their eyes locked on Darian.
When Darian was less than a kilometer from the exit, the world's light suddenly seemed to die out.
He was wrapped in a black mass that spread in all directions, as if it were painting over the world itself.
An absurd amount of dark power burst out all at once. But that wasn't all — everyone felt something else awakening along with it.
"Ignorant Spiritual Guardian, you think you can escape?!" mocked one of the nine-circle ones, stepping in front of him.
More than three hundred nine circles lined up in front of Darian. Behind them, countless others weaved a net, and further back, a wall of hundreds of thousands was closing in. It was a formation that not even a mosquito could slip through.
"What a joke. Why would I run? I came here to end you all and take everything good you've got. I already took the best treasure — now the rest of you can just disappear."
Darian spoke, his figure standing out in the middle of that blackened world — with Lucy by his side.
"You dare talk so arrogantly with death right in front of you? Spiritual Guardians really are fools," another one mocked, still calm and composed.
The true rulers of the White Bloods had already decreed that he couldn't be allowed to escape — anyone who failed would face execution. They never gave such strict orders, which showed how cautious they were.
They'd even sacrificed hundreds of one of their race's special variants earlier, just to locate him and launch a devastating strike. And yet, he'd survived.
To be safe, they only needed to block the way. As long as Darian couldn't pass through, victory was theirs. Killing him wasn't even the goal — they wanted to capture him alive.
"With death right in front of me? Well said. Seems like you know yourself pretty well," Darian laughed. Then, under everyone's shocked gazes, he charged alone straight into the massive army blocking his path.
His dark power expanded for thousands of meters around him before stabilizing, forming a massive moving domain — like a tide of shadow spreading out with a sinister will.
In the allied army watching from afar, the newer ones gasped in disbelief. They expected Darian to use poison, fire, lightning — anything destructive to cause chaos and break through.
But he didn't use any special technique. He simply advanced. Lucy stayed a bit behind.
The leader of the nine-circles ahead snorted, refusing to break formation, and threw a single punch forward.
At that moment, Darian's black domain swallowed those soldiers whole. They stepped inside completely, feeling nothing tangible or unusual — just a raw, primal sense of dread.
Then Darian struck with a single punch. His body was almost ethereal — he didn't have the Primordial Body, and in this form, he wasn't exactly built for frontal combat.
"!"
*Woooosh!*
Before their fists even met, blade-shaped winds clashed and exploded inside the black domain. Shockingly, the ones with eight circles were blown several steps back, coughing up blood.
As they steadied themselves, they felt their legs go numb — when they looked down, their eyes went wide. Their legs were frozen to the ground, covered in a thin layer of ice.
Then the earth beneath them began to tremble slightly!
In that same instant, Darian's punch met the leader's.
*BOOM!*
A rain of scarlet blood burst out in the middle of the darkened world. With a single strike, Darian's opponent exploded like an egg smashed against a wall of steel.
At the same time, spears of earth shot up over ten meters high around them. All eight circles nearby were brutally impaled and then exploded as well.
The scene was utterly shocking — and soaked in blood.
"What?!"
Not only Zelkov and Tetoya, but even Niara and the others were stunned. When had Darian become *this* powerful?
Niara, though, sensed something else — something subtle. Inside that black domain, there was a mental power that was absolutely terrifying.
"Oh? You guys are really that fragile, huh? Well... I'll be merciful and give you a warning: anyone who blocks my path dies!"
Darian's mocking voice echoed out, and he didn't even wait before attacking again.
He had only killed the eight-circles and their nine-circle leader. There were still hundreds of nine-circles untouched — but he moved like a ghost, disappearing right before everyone's eyes.
"No!"
With an explosive sound, another nine-circle burst apart violently.
At the same time, inside the black domain, blade-shaped winds, earthen spears, and a strange mist swirled around, striking every remaining enemy at once.
"Am I dreaming? That idiot was still hiding more of his strength?" Tetoya muttered, unable to believe what she was seeing.
Earlier, the entire army had gone all out, yet there had been no hope of winning or even forcing the enemy back quickly. And now, those terrifying beings were being cut down like weeds by him?
Niara just watched, her eyes gleaming. Darian never ran out of surprises — and he was damn creative when it mattered most. That black domain had been created on the spot, unleashing his dark power and controlling it to stay within a set area. It was similar to the miasma used by the Risen, but a thousand times stronger.
But that wasn't all... inside that black power, without anyone noticing, a terrifying mental energy was spreading through every enemy in range. It was messing with their strength — that's what made it so easy for Darian to kill even the nine-circles.
That mental power was on a level Niara wouldn't even dream of using. And those enemies hadn't even realized when it hit them, because the dark power around them blocked all their senses. Niara was sure of it — Darian had made all of it up on the spot under extreme pressure, and it was *actually working*.
Darian looked like a demon harvesting lives. Everyone trapped inside the domain began screaming in despair.
It all lasted less than two minutes before the ones chasing from behind got close — but... they all stopped, not daring to step inside that black domain, for obvious reasons.
Fear settled deep in their hearts, freezing them where they stood. After all, a true calamity was unfolding right before their eyes.
Soon, more and more of them were dying with a single strike from Darian. The rest started trying to run, fleeing from the black domain.
But Awel, Tir, and Eleri were forcing them to defend instead of escaping easily. And whenever someone managed to reach the edge...
A small female figure appeared out of the void behind them and threw a punch. Just like Darian, a nine-circle exploded instantly.
Lucy had become pretty much an invisible assassin.
She was using her blessing to the fullest, taking advantage of Darian's dark power to hide completely. Since her dark light and his dark energy were so similar, in the middle of that chaos, it was almost impossible for the enemies to notice her.
The absolute defense ahead was shattered. Darian slowly advanced toward the Ring of Life, and the black domain moved along with him.
The enemies that came from behind tried attacking from a distance, but soon discovered that anything entering the black domain simply lost all its power and vanished.
They hesitated for a few seconds, tense and frustrated. Entering that place was basically suicide, but they couldn't just stand there. Since there were hundreds of thousands of them, they figured if they all charged together and burned their Bloodlines for power, maybe they could crush and kill him.
Just as the leaders were about to give the order, they felt something — and froze.
Darian, who had been waiting for them to enter, suddenly went on alert. His dark power slowed down, moving sluggishly, then stopped completely.
*Buzz*
The world trembled. Space and time froze. Then the skies filled with violet light.
Darian looked up and took a deep breath.
A single figure stood there, staring down at him coldly.
In its eyes, nine circles could be seen — but a faint golden aura surrounded them. The pressure it released felt far beyond the nine circles — though clearly, that wasn't the case.
"Golden Blood..." Darian muttered dryly.
That was the third type of the Blood Race — beings that only existed in the Third World, and were absurdly powerful.
Darian hadn't expected to meet one here. His intel said only nine-circle ones were present — and that was technically true. But even with nine circles, this person was like heaven and earth compared to the White or Black Bloods. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
They were supposed to be in the Trunk World... but considering how many rules this race broke thanks to the Celestial Shadow's power, someone like that showing up here for some random reason wasn't impossible. In other words, he was unlucky.
Darian's expression shifted. He had acted fast and brutally, trying to strike fear into the enemies. With everyone hesitating, he could've advanced far — he just needed to get close enough to use another card and break through all at once.
If they had all rushed in together, entering the black domain without stopping to think, Darian would've been forced to fight them head-on — and he wouldn't have had time to move forward before...
...the power of the Divine Flame of the Mind burned out. But now, he had very little left — and worse, it had been frozen against his will.
