Damned Healer-Chapter 568: Terrifying Opportunity
The combatants who had been violently ejected from the barrier quickly got back on their feet. Enraged and not even knowing what had happened, they charged forward once more.
As a result, they were all rejected on the spot.
"Do you really think we'd leave the good stuff for you?" Alear mocked arrogantly from inside the barrier.
Suddenly, Galteus and Caelu stood up, stepping out of the dust cloud. Then...
Everyone nearby froze, eyes completely wide.
Both of their faces were swollen and deformed, with blood dripping from their mouths, making it all even more grotesque.
"Hahahahaha!"
Niara laughed, holding her stomach in an exaggerated way. Alear and the others couldn't hold it in either after seeing that scene.
Once those two realized the situation, they looked like they'd been possessed by demons. It wasn't even a real injury; they could heal in a second, but the psychological damage and humiliation were worse than death.
Both of them roared and attacked the barrier over and over, but it was unbelievably tough. They couldn't even make it tremble, only get pushed back by part of their own power rebounding.
"Hahaha, now it's your turn... Oh!" Alear said, clapping his hands, but suddenly stopped and pointed behind them. "You guys are pretty relaxed, huh?"
In that instant, everyone who had been kicked out of the Divine Oasis turned around in panic, seeing the massive army of Shadows just a few meters away.
"Fuck! Everyone activate the divine technique!" Caelu roared. Immediately, all the Twilight Owls nodded, and a thick, shadowy cloak wrapped around their bodies.
"Use the emergency exit together! We need to reach the demonic abyss!" Galteus shouted to the Three-Eyed Ravens.
They didn't waste any time. Both armies activated their powers and treasures, tearing through the Shadows with immense force, starting a bitter fight.
But everyone inside the barrier understood that they knew exactly where they had to go.
Possibly, by burning every resource they had, at least part of them would survive until the final phase.
In a few minutes, they had all vanished from sight.
In that moment, everyone finally relaxed, feeling immense relief. Then, the people of the three races felt a warm, comforting energy flowing through their bodies.
Everyone swallowed hard, especially Clanne, who had been there before. But this time...
"This... is way, way stronger than before..." he muttered, stunned.
Before, he had only felt a faint immortal energy, but now it was like he was being completely flooded by it nonstop.
"All Heavenly Beasts, focus as much as you can. This Divine Oasis doesn't need to exist after this Convention, so everything will be handed to you. In the future, all of you will be the pillars of the race in the universe." Darian said softly.
Everyone heard it, and their hearts pounded like drums. Especially the few Twilight Owls and Three-Eyed Ravens who had joined the army. They were only average within their own races and were only alive because Darian helped them. Now... they couldn't believe what they were receiving.
"As for the others..."
Darian continued, and only then did those Heavenly Beasts notice something shocking. They all turned in fear, realizing everyone was inside the place. That should have been impossible!
"Since you have free time, you'd better use it to prepare yourselves better." Darian finished, while Tir, Eleri, and Awel appeared.
Tir and Eleri began creating the Sacred Earth and Water of Life for the Golems inside that place. Awel gathered the Humanoids, Demons, and Beasts, starting training, teaching battle formations, and explaining how everyone should fight together.
The Spiritual Guardians gathered in a corner, consuming recovery pills and restoring everything they had lost in the first two phases. Many had used Supreme Artifacts that needed time to recover, or had consumed too much power from the ring. This rest would make all the difference.
At that moment, Darian saw three tiny points of light appear before him.
He moved his hand and gently took them. Looking at them was like seeing three broken pieces of a pearl. That was their Primordial Bead, or what was left of it.
At the same time, three pulsing runes appeared in the sky and descended toward him. Darian turned to Czaza and signaled for her to come closer.
She flapped her wings gently and appeared beside him. Darian gestured again, making the three runes move toward her.
"These are the Immortal Bloodline Runes, left behind by the Divinities of the three Heavenly Beasts. With them, you'll become the successor of the divinities and gain the power to influence and help the three races far more." Darian said in a serious tone, looking into those bright blue eyes.
"You have nine rings. And you already went through a massive physical boost back in that other adventure of ours with the Heavenly Annihilation. So... you know where I'm going with this, right?"
Czaza widened her eyes. Then she took a deep breath and lowered her head, nodding. She only didn't kneel because she knew Darian didn't like that.
"I'll do my best to meet your expectations." she said, her voice holding both tension and excitement.
Obviously, Darian wanted her to break through and become an immortal, then try to connect to this universe and merge with the Immortal Chaos Essence.
This was a terrifying opportunity handed to her. Becoming the successor of the three divinities would instantly make her someone adored by the races. If she could get them to genuinely like her, it would be a huge step. And by helping the weaker races, it wouldn't be impossible to be accepted by the universe's collective consciousness.
Even so... throughout history, many immortal Spiritual Guardians tried everything, even helping and befriending the main powers of the universes. But nothing ever seemed to work, and soon it became clear that there was no formula.
Because of that, anyone in her place would feel terrible fear. Even if she managed to become an immortal... her chances of dying while trying to merge with the Immortal Chaos Essence were almost absolute. Being ordered by a superior to do this was absurd.
But under Darian's gaze and trust, Czaza felt immense reassurance, like nothing could change the fact that she would succeed.
As for Darian, obviously, if he felt she didn't want to try or wasn't confident, he would immediately tell her to forget it. But since she said that, and he was sure she trusted him, he would make sure she succeeded.
She immediately closed her eyes. When she opened them, a hypnotic light flowed out. The three runes moved, turning into a mist of energy, then getting pulled into her eyes.
She sat down right there, closing her eyes and beginning to stabilize that power properly.
Beside Darian, Niara murmured, "She's ridiculously strict and restrained with herself... but she's reliable."
Darian nodded. She was the complete opposite of Niara, who lived freely and didn't care about anything.
Alear also sat down in a corner and closed her eyes. She knew the next phase would be tough, and began preparing to use everything she had.
After organizing everything, Darian and Niara sat down in a corner. Darian received in his mind all the knowledge of the Primordial Bead's base technique, then began studying it.
Niara stayed by his side, protecting him from anything unexpected. She was his shield whenever he was focused on something important and became vulnerable.
...
When the first twelve hours of the Convention passed.
At that moment, cracks appeared in the Divine Oasis barrier.
*ROOAR!*
Roars echoed thunderously from outside. Everyone looked forward; it was the shadows that had been waiting to attack them.
Darian commanded, "Same tactic as before, everyone get on the flying ships."
Seconds later, the entire barrier exploded.
"Thank you for helping our races..."
The soft, feminine voice sounded one last time in Darian's mind, losing its strength and fading away, like a candle flame being blown out by the wind.
That was the last breath and the complete end, both of that place and of the three Divinities' wills.
