Damned Healer-Chapter 585: Perfectly Arranged
The Heavenly Punishment was over. Now, everyone felt as if their power had instantly increased countless times over. On top of that, they felt like they had become masters of heaven and earth.
Everyone burst with joy. They felt limitless energy coursing through their bodies and souls, and the sensation of reaching a level above the world's laws gave them an unprecedented sense of satisfaction.
They were like prisoners who had finally escaped confinement, or like a phoenix reborn, now able to fly freely through the skies again. It was a feeling of absolute control.
They could feel the universe breathing and the flow of the world's laws. It was an incredible sensation. But… right after the joy, they noticed something strange.
Everyone's eyes moved in a strange synchrony. When they focused on space itself, they immediately widened their eyes.
They could see countless tiny points of light radiating a terrifying aura in every direction. They weren't stars or anything that had existed before… they were like…
…countless eyes watching them.
Darian, Niara, and Alear landed calmly in the middle of the army. At that moment, the twins approached Darian with odd expressions, describing what they were seeing and feeling.
Darian was surprised at first, then thought for a moment and remembered something from that book.
"In the distant past, Heaven's Will was a consciousness born along with the world, living solely for it, like a machine programmed only for that task. But now everything has completely changed, and these 'eyes' are probably the new system of Heaven's Will. Even so, the current Heaven's Will was born as a mortal just like all of us; because of that, it can't spend every second watching and taking care of all universes. It has a wife, children, and a life. With its power, it must have created these 'eyes' to monitor everything and notify it when needed."
Darian explained his theory, and everyone listened, feeling immensely relieved. The feeling of being seen by those things was horrifying. Everyone understood that Heaven's Will existed and monitored everything, but they never imagined it was so literal.
"Anyway," Darian turned to Lucy, "we don't have time to waste. At best, all of you can only use about 5% of your immortal power. But together, that should be enough."
Lucy nodded, her eyes shining. Possibly, in the entire history of the Spiritual Guardians, there had never even been two thousand immortals. Now, suddenly, Darian had created 4,500 of them, and all of them stood united at his side.
Darian wasn't afraid of anyone rebelling. The main reason was that, during the years of preparation for the mission, he had chosen every single person meticulously. Anyone with even slightly heavier karma was eliminated, and even the rest were closely observed by him over the years.
He felt that everyone there knew gratitude and was honest. But he wasn't naïve enough to think that couldn't change over time.
So he made sure it was very clear that he could kill an immortal even while still having seven rings. The footage of him killing the two immortals on Earth, who broke through alongside Vanh, had been widely spread; on top of that, they had also seen it happen again with their own eyes at the Convention.
Clearly, in the near future, with eight or nine rings, Darian could kill a simple immortal like them as easily as crushing an ant. Would they be crazy enough to betray him?
Even if they ran to the three enemy Spiritual Sovereigns, most of them were people from Earth. They had already been informed about those enemies' plan to turn Earth into a farm. Could they trust people like that?
They had also been told why the Immortal Keepers existed. To the Spiritual Sovereigns, simple immortals like them were the most nourishing treasure in existence. They had no guarantee they could ever become a Spiritual Sovereign themselves, so they would likely end up as nutrients for those three malicious figures.
In other words, when they were just Spiritual Guardians with nine rings, they were like worthless ants, with no power that immortals cared about. They could feel somewhat safe, since their only real enemies were others with nine rings, enemies they could still defend against.
Now, everything had changed. They couldn't oppose the true enemies, and their lives had suddenly gained immense value. In other words, they were actually completely unsafe, with a target on their backs.
Being with Darian was even more essential for survival; they wouldn't dare even think about betraying him or acting arrogantly.
"Bro, in one day, I'll make all the changes to the inscription," Lucy said seriously.
Darian nodded. "Great. Before we return to Earth, we'll stop by the Divine Protection Universe. The purest materials with primordial Yin and Yang should handle your power perfectly."
"But… my inscription is still just a prototype. I don't think it's enough…" Lucy said, looking worried.
"It's fine. Besides the army of immortals, we'll have a fourth Spiritual Sovereign," he said calmly, turning to Czaza.
She stepped slightly closer, then bowed. "I'll do my best, Sir."
"Just show your will and loyalty. Don't worry about the rest, the consciousness of this universe knows what's best for everyone," Niara said, giving her a light pat on the shoulder. As the only one who had already experienced this, she understood it well.
Darian looked Czaza in the eyes and added, "This universe suffered an invasion and a brutal war against another universe for countless years. Normally, life forms in a universe don't even know other universes exist. But these ones understand the terror of being invaded and attacked by outsiders, and that has taken deep root within them."
"Who can guarantee that the missionary didn't leave the technique to create an inter-universe channel over there somewhere else? One day, with that universe being so close, everything could come back. But if you're accepted, that place will fall under my protection."
"You even became immortals here, in front of everyone. Even from far away, the most powerful cultivators in this place can feel your power. To them, an immortal is an impossible level to reach. More than four thousand at once? Those cultivators now think a Spiritual Guardian is the most absurd thing in the world. In other words, the future protection they'll gain will be absurd."
"I'm not even counting the fact that you obtained the inheritance of the three Divinities. That's just a bonus. So, like Niara said, just make your will and loyalty clear."
Czaza was surprised when she heard all that. No Spiritual Guardian had as much understanding of cultivators' power as Darian. They had no idea that the people of that universe had felt the exact moment they became immortals.
Darian had made the Rainbow Cranes start a war and a unification among the Heavenly Beasts, while at the same time spreading Czaza's name and his own throughout the process.
That war, in just a single day, was already close to ending, since the other two races were heavily weakened. Soon, the entire universe was already aware of the massive change taking place and had heard about the heir of the Three Divinities.
Everything had been perfectly arranged by Darian, taking advantage of the population's fear of invaders. Technically, Darian and the others were invaders, too, but the fact that Czaza had received the inheritance of the Divinities showed that she had been approved by them, which gave everyone confidence in her.
"You can feel where the center of this universe is, right?" Darian asked calmly.
Czaza nodded. Just like everyone could feel the surveillance of the world's laws and Heaven's Will over them, they could also feel a massive flow of power within the universe. It was like a heart beating in a specific direction.
"Good. This is your individual journey. I'll be waiting for good news," Darian added, encouraging her. There was only absolute trust in his eyes, and he made sure to convey that to her.
She took a deep breath and took out a flying boat. Then she boarded it alone and headed toward that place.
There were still two days left before they had to leave.
Lucy and the others would stay there, since she needed to create the new inscription that could withstand their immortal power and also teach everyone how to use it. On top of that, they had to learn, in just two days, how to handle this new power; none of them had any free time.
Darian turned to Alear and Niara. They, on the other hand, could do something else.
Without delay, they boarded the flying boat and headed toward the imperial planets of the other two Heavenly Beast races.
---
A few hours later, they arrived at a massive planet. A great battle took place there, but it ended in less than half a day. All the Twilight Owls who stood by their emperor were killed.
Those who remained of that race were either weak ones who would only be a burden at the Convention, or ones too old who preferred to stay behind.
Thus, the attack by the absurdly more powerful Rainbow Crane army, combined with the emperor possessing privileged information about the people of the other two races at his side, all unfolded very simply.
Of course, the goal wasn't to destroy that race, so deaths were avoided as much as possible.
Darian came to check that everything was in order, as well as to help properly spread the names of Czaza and the Spiritual Guardians. The news needed to reach, at the very least, the entire divine and ascending world of that universe.
***
The hours passed calmly, without any disturbance.
With three hours left before all the Spiritual Guardians had to leave, Darian was standing beside the army on the Rainbow Cranes' imperial planet.
Everyone was tense and anxious, with no news from Czaza so far. They wanted to go there and check, but Darian only told them to wait and trust her.
The Charming Eyes Race were extremely proud and strict with themselves. They followed every comma of the rules and words left by Heaven's Will, and to them, serving the missionary was like helping the one who allowed their race to exist.
Darian was sure of this after visiting the Dharma planet. They were like the stereotype of knights and nobility from Earth's fantasy tales.
If someone went there, it would make Czaza feel that Darian didn't trust her, hurting her pride. As a leader, Darian always needed to show confidence and, above all, show that he trusted his soldiers. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Minutes passed.
One hour.
Two hours.
Even Darian became quite shaken. Had she really failed and died?
Until…
*Bzzz*
Suddenly, a very soft buzzing sound and an almost imperceptible fluctuation were noticed by him.
Darian turned around. Then he saw a golden channel open in front of him.
Slowly, a golden, winged figure with blue eyes shining like stars emerged.
With her arrival, the entire environment changed.
Everyone who had become immortal immediately swallowed hard. They felt the power within her, completely stable and calm. That meant she now controlled 100% of it.
Czaza walked forward toward Darian. The two Celestial Foxes who were with the army also rushed to her side.
Two meters from him, she stopped and knelt. Her fists were tightly clenched, and her fluctuations were filled with gratitude and resolve. She knew her life had changed forever because of him.
"Good job," Darian said calmly.
Now, he had four Spiritual Sovereigns at his side.
