Chapter 175: Arrival

Azul shook his head, still recovering from the impact. He slowly stood up as dust and debris fell from his robe.

’Looks like this one is no pushover. If I want to leave this place alive, I have no other choice but to use it... even if it’s still incomplete.’

Azul fell into deep thought. He was not afraid, but he feared that all the plans he had laid out, and the massive resources already invested would go to waste. He summoned his copies once more.

"Hah. Do you really think that will work on me again? Do you really think I’m stupid?" Reymond said, his arms folded in a majestic stance as red aura continued to leak from his body.

Azul did not respond. Behind his mask, however, a wide smile formed.

Fool.

He leapt forward and attacked Reymond. Reymond lazily raised his spear, believing he had already won this battle.

Azul’s attacks were deflected one after another as Reymond countered by striking each copy in rapid succession.

But Azul had already anticipated this. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

Each Azul pulled out a crystal-like blade. The jagged weapon gleamed ominously, and at a single glance, Reika already knew what it was.

It was made from Kaoslith, just like the ones behind her.

"Do you think that small blade can defeat me?!" Reymond shouted.

Azul continued charging with the crystal blade. Reymond, empowered by his class’s effect that amplified his strength through injury, chose to receive the attack head-on.

The crystal blade cut into his hand. Blood spilled, but Reymond kept moving, evading and counterattacking. Over time, however, the wounds began to accumulate.

Reymond suddenly felt lethargic. His swings slowed and his reactions dulled.

"Wh, what is happening?" He staggered as his vision blurred.

"Brother Reymond!" Reika shouted.

Shuush!

Blood splashed onto the ground.

Reymond looked down and saw the crystal blade already protruding through his abdomen.

"You fought well, Reymond. But it’s time for you to vanish from this battle," Azul whispered from behind him before pulling the blade free.

Reymond staggered forward toward Reika, who was crying uncontrollably. His vision slowly darkened and his peripheral sight fading away.

"Rei... Reika, I’m... sorry."

Thud.

He collapsed onto the ground, landing face down as fresh blood spread beneath him.

"Brother!" Reika screamed from the depths of her lungs. She was completely devastated.

Reymond slowly raised his hand toward his sister, but Azul stepped forward, blocking his view as he stood in front of him.

"To be honest, I didn’t really want to use this. But well, what’s done is done," Azul said calmly. "This is the Kaoslith Blade. And this one is special. It negates the magic within the body of anyone it wounds. That means your mana is constantly being stripped away every time you’re hit. A very bad match for you. But luckily, this is only a prototype, so you’ll recover in a few hours."

"You dirty... bastard!" Reymond cursed with the last of his strength.

"Thank you for the compliment." Azul raised the blade once more, this time intent on finishing him for good.

"Before you recover your mana, I’ll make you sleep for a very long time. Farewell."

Azul swung the blade down.

Reika shut her eyes tightly. She couldn’t bear to watch her brother die before her.

Suddenly...

Bang!

A bullet flew toward Azul, forcing him to evade at the last second. The shot continued past him and struck the barrier, making Reika flinch as she opened her eyes.

"Oops! Sorry, Princess. I didn’t mean to shoot at you!"

A voice echoed from the entrance.

Reika lifted her head and saw three figures standing there.

---

A few minutes before the gunshot...

"Damn it! The monsters keep coming nonstop!" I shouted.

We were pushing toward the mansion’s entrance. Reymond had already gone inside minutes ago, and worry was starting to creep into my chest.

"Everyone, keep moving!" Reid shouted from atop his horse, surrounded by mounted knights. Every time he advanced, the knights carved a path forward for him.

Mirinda flew toward Reid.

"Prince, this is taking too much time. I fear this is exactly what the enemies intend," she said.

Reid glanced at Mirinda, then turned his eyes toward me. After a brief moment, he nodded.

"Alright. Everyone, make a path for those three. Protect them with your lives!"

"Yeah!"

The crowd erupted in cheers. The army surged forward, crushing the enemies in their path. William and the others were also doing their best, slaying as many monsters as they could.

I felt moved by their efforts.

But somehow, the monsters just kept coming. Wave after wave. How are we supposed to break through this?

Suddenly, while I was deep in thought, someone tugged on my shirt. I turned and saw Lunar, looking at me shyly.

"Yeah, Lunar... what can I help you with?"

"I... an... lp... you," she said slowly.

"What? I didn’t hear you."

Lunar flinched. Her face turned redder, and her eyes started to water.

"I... an... help... you."

"What? Can you talk louder?"

"She said she can help you! Are you deaf? Even I standing here can hear her clearly!" Maya scolded me.

"O-oh... okay. Sorry, Lunar. What do you mean by that?" I asked. Bob and Linus had also come closer.

"I, I can make three of you... uh, invisible... and you can go... inside," she said, still looking away.

"Invisible?" My mind immediately went back to when Bob and I checked everyone’s classes. Lunar was a Veil Mage. So she really can turn people invisible?

"Are you sure you can do it?" Bob asked.

"Uh... yeah, maybe... I never tried it on others besides myself. But... I can try," Lunar said softly.

"This is not the time for experiments, little girl. This is life and death. Every action matters," Linus raised his voice.

Lunar was on the verge of tears. Many eyes were on her now, and someone had even scolded her.

"Whoa, whoa, chill, dude. She’s just a girl," Bob stepped in to protect her.

"She’s right." Mirinda suddenly approached us.

"Did I tell you that I chose her because of her ability? Please believe in her, the same way I do," she said firmly.

I looked at Lunar and crouched down to meet her eyes. I gently placed my hand on her head. Her hair was surprisingly soft.

"Alright, Lunar. We believe in you. Please do your best. We’re counting on you," I said with a smile.

Lunar looked at me and wiped her tears. She then straightened her posture. Her expression turned serious as she nodded.

"Hmmm!"
