Chapter 35: The First II

He released another wave of killing intent. I don’t know why he kept doing that, it wasn’t like as if it was affecting me or anything. Maybe it was a result of his never ending need to show dominance. Fear.

Suddenly, the ground trembled, accompanied with the loud rumbling of footsteps.

I glanced backwards and Thundlash and Ice Blast were actively engaging in a raging battle with the upper ranks of Gravehowls minions.

Gravehowl moved like a bullet train again, squeezing his club tightly.

My system warned me about the possibility of his incoming attack and I knew just what to do.

"I know!.."

"Skill: Destructive Domain!"

Foooop! Foooop!

The Forever pikes immediately deployed and planted around me, creating a small domain just about 11meters in diameter.

[Forever Pikes Deployed]

[Active Skill: Destructive Domain]

A few seconds later, Gravehowl slammed down with his club.

Slam!

Bam! Bam!

Powerful, fearsome attacks rocked the earth as he landed several heavy blows in quick succession without any rest. But I patiently endured as my Domain blocked his attacks.

"Mm? Mm?"

"What is this pesky human made of!" He thundered in frustration and pounded away with his massive club.

He could pound as much as he wants, there was no way the Destructive Domain would give in. It was designed for defense, to prevent any and all things from entering.

However, standing around letting him club away won’t give me the chance to be the hero I want to be so I had to do something.

"I have to end this... Tch!"

I gritted my teeth and timed Gravehowls attacks, just as the club bounced off of the dome for the last time, I was already ready to counter attack and took the opening to quickly release the domain and leap towards Gravehowls head.

However, he wasn’t the only one waiting for an opening.

Matching the time of my jump, he quickly leaned his upper torso backwards.

"What?"

And then, the massive club flew in towards me from the side while drawing a deadly arc in the air.

"Did he predict my move? He got me."

If there were places where my hands or feet could touch, the story might have been different, but there was no way I’d be able to dodge the attack in mid air.

Swoosh!

Almost as if time slowed down from my perspective, I stared at the club approaching ever so closer and let out a loud groan in desperation.

I knew it was a killer blow, with that swing and the sheer size of the club, there was a chance the impact could bypass the protection of my suit.

"Skill: Kinetic Shockwave"

[Active Skill: Kinetic Shockwave]

"Incinerate!", I ordered.

Of course, the idea behind ’Incinerate’ was for offensive maneuvers, but the golden blast pumping out of my palms gave me a certain level of thrust upwards as it bounced off the club.

I also activated Kinetic Shockwave incase the thrust wasn’t enough and the club made impact, the Forever Armor would absorb most of its kinetic output.

The tip of the club missed me by mere inches.

"Grrr!"

I was flung away some distance and rolled on the ground a few times, but compared to what might have happened if the club had made contact with me, I saw this landing as gentle.

"Huh!-" I gasped as I regained focus while on one knee.

On the other hand, Gravehowls expression had crumpled quite unsightly. He attacked, feeling proud and all, but in the end, it was all for nothing. That fact caused his fury to reach the peak.

"You punny, little human! I’ll squash you like a bug!" Gravehowl thundered.

I tilted my head in thought, what would happen if he pulled his previous attack again? What would happen if I couldn’t dodge it a second time?.

It was at this point that an excellent idea popped up in mind.

The corner of my lip arched up into a sinister smile.

I spun on my heel and ran. Gravehowl mistook this action as cowardice — me trying to escape and hurriedly chased after me.

Rumble, this, thud, thud!!

I intentionally reduced my sprinting speed so Gravehowl could chase after me. If I really wanted to run away from me, I would have instantly blasted my way out of there.

As soon as I discovered a suitable remnant of a building, my eyes began gleaming brightly.

"That one."

How do you cripple mountain size beast with the speed that rivaled that of a bullet train? You takr out its ability to see entirely.

When the distance between us closed, and Gravehowl raised his club smiling evily as he saw the opportunity to crush me like a bug.

In an instant, I ran up the crumbled remnants of the building and Gravehowl followed suit.

Gravehowls eyes grew wider as I tilted my body to face him and came back down with my rocket boosters launching me downwards with amazing speed.

I gritted my teeth.

I was originally poised to going for his beedy eyes, but right in mid air, I changed my mind.

I manifested my Forever Daggers and gripped the tightly as I sliced past the buldging artery of Gravehowls neck.

There was nothing he could do to challenge that. Hile couldn’t increase his altitude because his weight was just too much and he couldn’t go back down because he would plummet hard on his back.

Gravehowl hurriedly discarded the club and tried to control the loss of blood with both of his hands.

Unfortunately for him, it was insufficient to block the overflow of squirting blood.

At that moment, there was a visible tremor shaking in Gravehowls eys.

I saw my opening for a final blow.

I fell past him, and landed softly on the ground, shot back and raised my palm upwards towards his direction.

"Incinerate!!!"

It would be nice to see how he would dodge that.

The blast hit his back with tremendous force. His skin was tough so I amplified the output of Incinerate to 40% and it completely burned through him.
