Chapter 81: New Roommate

Little by little, those with minor injuries started boarding the buses, glaring at me as they did so.

I didn’t react much; instead, I opted to look outside the window, peacefully looking at the compound.

Unfortunately, this peace was short to last, and from the corner of my eyes, I saw a figure getting on the bus.

The blonde guy was looking around as if searching for something until his eyes fell upon the empty seat beside me.

Of course, he is looking for me.

Once again, I didn’t react, slowly watching in dread as he made his way and sat down on the seat at my side.

"They really hate us, huh?" Soren was the first to speak, trying to initiate conversation.

"Uh-huh." I slowly nodded, showing my clear disinterest in the conversation.

"I mean, all we did was call her out."

"Uh-huh."

Soren was trying his best to start a conversation with me, clearly still suspicious about me reacting to the ancient Khravaen written in the runes before.

Damn it, it hadn’t even been the first day, and this was the second time my plans of staying low and staying away from him were already in jeopardy.

Perhaps I should act like a spoiled brat who is still reeling in from his ex-noble days, telling him that I don’t associate with commoners like him. No, that might be too much. I wanted to stay away from him, didn’t mean I wanted to antagonize him. Being on the enemy list of the protagonist was a surefire way to trouble.

"The battle in the forest, I guess the media was right calling this new curriculum hell on earth."

"Uh-huh."

Perhaps there was a way to not associate with him without antagonizing him.

"I also saw what you did back there, standing on that rock with your sword, taunting that thing. It was... brave."

Soren was still talking, so I simply nodded my head and let out a huge yawn.

"If you think about it-."

"Hey, listen," I spoke, interrupting him mid-sentence.

"I’m exhausted after everything that’s happened. I just need some rest for now. Can we talk later?"

"Oh, yeah, alright," Soren spoke.

"Thanks." I smiled and slowly closed my eyes.

This was it; all I had to do was avoid him for the bus ride to the academy; after that, I’d actively try my best to stay away from him.

Besides, he was only a little suspicious for now; perhaps as time passes, my identity as a Valdrin and the graphic details about my current reputation will be enough to satisfy his curiosity and caution him enough to stay away from me.

The bus soon began moving, driving through the streets and making its way to the mountain and to the Sacred Vanguard Academy.

All this time, I made sure to keep my eyes closed, keeping our interaction at zero.

The bus soon reached our destination, crossing the academy gates and coming to a halt at what I was assuming was the bus station.

"Hey, dude, get up. We are already here."

Soren spoke up slightly, nudging to wake me up.

I, on the other hand, made sure to keep my eyes closed and not move an inch.

"Hey, wake up." Soren nudged me again and again, only going a bit harder each time.

This went on for a while until he finally gave up. "Whatever." He mumbled as I heard him moving away from the seat to the front of the bus.

"Finally," I mumbled after a while, getting up from my seat. The entire bus was completely empty by now, with all the students already leaving.

I was almost about to give in and wake up. Bet he would have wanted me to explore the academy with him.

Shaking my head, I took out a bracelet with the academy’s insignia from my spatial storage.

The academy has asked us to carry this separately from our luggage in case they want to communicate with us. Thankfully I hadn’t dropped it during the battle just now.

I turned on the smart bracelet and came face to face with a holographic projected screen in front of my eyes.

"And it seems like I already have a message," I mumbled while getting off the bus. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

A chilly gust of wind greeted me the moment I stepped outside the bus. In front of me stood the giant mountain, with giant buildings and structures engraved on it like jewels.

This is going to be my home for the next four years. I let out a sigh and looked at the message on my smart bracelet.

Subject: Dormitory Room Assignment – Sacred Vanguard Academy

Dear Roye Valdrin

Welcome to Sacred Vanguard Academy. Your dormitory assignment details are as follows:

Room Number: [Room 17]

Floor: [Floor 8]

Please refer to the academy map for guidance to your dormitory.

If you need any assistance, feel free to contact the administration office or on-site staff.

Best regards,

Administration Office

Sacred Vanguard Academy

This was a bit too polite, considering what they had just put us through. Honestly, I was almost convinced that they would set some monsters loose on us until we found our rooms.

I clicked on the little button below the message. At once I came face to face with a map, showing mine and the dormitory location.

"That’s handy." I began moving forward, following the map.

What I had told Soren wasn’t a complete lie. I was tired and even though I wanted to check out the campus and find the library. Right now, all I wanted to do was find my dorm room and go to sleep.

Walking past the administrative buildings, it took me quite a while to reach the Hollow wing.

Moving quite up on the mountain, I soon came face to face with a large building with the sign ’Hollow Wings’ in front of it.

However, what caught my eye was the building right in front of my new home.

At Least twice as large and twice as lavish, right in front of the Hollow wings stood the Apex Wings, in front of which stood Seylith, chatting with the incoming students with that charmingly creepy smile of his.
