"Could it be that we were that weak?"

Jell said blankly. He didn’t believe his own words, but he just didn’t believe what he was seeing. The vines were not that hard to deal with, he had already cut some of them! The only problem that he had was their numbers.

"I think some condition may be required to lift anything in this place."

"I bet it had something to do with mystic" Oven made his guess, Looking at the detective.

"Most likely," Holen said "In which case we couldn’t do anything about it, none of us have mystic power. So we need to get out of here"

"How?" Jell asked, unsure of how to proceed. They went through some kind of door to get here but on this side of the dimension, there was no door for them to go back. They are now stuck here with no clear way to get out.

"Let’s find a door, maybe we could exit that way." Holen was also out of options so he suggested the best thing he could think of.

The three people nodded their heads. They didn’t have any good ideas either, so it was natural to go with Holen’s.

The detective felt a little frustrated after coming to this place. Not only could the tribe be closing in on their location, but a murderous vines were chasing them and now they were stuck inside a spirit dimension.

Above all, he didn’t even know that this was the spirit realm, after all, it just Kanku who’s said it was.

The detective looked around again, searching for the door. The first place he looked was where they appeared. The flooring was flawlessly flat with some pattern on it. When they appeared, they were a bit further away from the table rubbles.

Holen climbed up the plate rubble to see around more clearly. However, the result was still the same, there was only flat flooring and walls.

"Anything?"

Holen looked back to Jell and others who were also searching for the door, or some kind of thing that could get them out of this place.

"Nothing... What kind of place is this by the way? It looks so chaotic"

"A big table? I don’t know"

Holen recalled the scene he saw from afar. This place looked like it just got bashed in half by something and all the table wear merged into it, creating what looked like a valley and cave of broken things.

"Nothing here too!" Kanku said with enthusiasm, trying to be bright for the group but there was a cloud looming over his head. The knights and Holen didn’t have time to address that since they needed to find a way out.

"Maybe...."

"Shhh"

Holen was about to speak when Jell pressed his index finger on his own mouth. Holen looked over and instantly knew why Jell did it. In the distance, a creature was clearing its way to their place.

Kanku put his hand over his mouth to not make any noise while Oven and Holen guarded the kid from the monster. The three of them looked for a place to hide.

The wooden rubble and plate split into many small parts, but the original object was so big that even the piece of the thing was bigger than itself. It was large enough to create a gap between them when stacked on top of each other.

The party quickly made their way into one of those gaps and hid from the monster. They tried to make the least noise.

thud

The sound of footsteps came near, the monster could be heard walking right above their hiding spot. Kanku’s body couldn’t stop shaking, The ferocious wolf and the wild bear could not scare him more than this. It looked completely differnt from a normal animal.

They wait for the footstep can no longer be heard then pop their head out. Jell was the first to survey the place and quickly discovered that it was safe.

"Again, what the hell was that thing?" Oven asked again, didn’t expect any answer "Are you alright?" The knight turned to the kid who was shaking in his boots from that close encounter. The monster walked right above the place they were hiding! If it looked down they would already be discovered.

Kanku looked at Oven and nodded.

"Let’s continue our search" Holen cut that moment short, The encounter had scared him more than the other might realize, as someone who hate mystics, he didn’t want to be in this place.

They all walked around for more minutes however, all they could find were rubbles upon rubbles of stuff that looked like table wear.

"I don’t think the door was this way."

"Maybe we double back? There might be a clue to leave this place there"

"What about the vines?"

"it might have already left"

Oven thought that they needed to take every chance they could get to leave this place. Holen mulled it over for a bit and also agreed that they could take that chance to even through the could be getting closer to the vines that way.

"Are you really alright kid?"

While walking Oven’s hand slipped into the kid’s hand and feel that he was shaking much more than before.

"You guy... said something about mystic, right?"

"Yes?" Oven’s answer made Kanku more scared than before. The kid pointed at the necklace that he always had with him.

"Does this count as a mystic item?"

Holen’s eyebrows lifted up, not because he knew something but because he was genuinely surprised by the question.

"What that?"

"It’s a necklace that my mother gave me... She said that it keeps me safe"

"Could she track you with that?" Holen asked the obvious question. The tribe of goddesses was not a normal tribe. The hunt was known for the thing that the name suggested, It excels in hunting people with various tricks.

"I don’t think so, otherwise my she would found me way earlier before I could sneak out"

"You don’t know what it does?"

The kid nodded.

"Then it’s properly a normal charm"

"I think we could use this to help us.. somehow," Kanku said, his voice filled with emotion.

"Don’t worry kid, it’ not your fault that we end up here. The vines already blocked outway and we had no choice but to be here"

"But if you don’t...."

"Don’t worry we will get out of here" Hoeln said and Jell led the way back to the place where they appeared. However this time, there was no vine blocking their path. Hoeln triple-checked to see if there was anyone who might ambushed them and went out to look at the place.

"There’s isn’t anything here"

All of them split a bit to look at differnt places. Kanku however stayed close to Oven who’s been a bit protective of the kid so far.

"Maybe we needed to look harder"

"My eyes are about to pop out Holen. There really was nothing here"

Holen sighed at Oven’s response. He also found nothing useful here. However as he swept the place one last time, something caught his eye. The pattern that was displaced on the big wall in the distance was not lining up. The distortion was so little that all of them had missed it until now.

"Wait, that might be...."

Claw!!

The sound came from above. It was some kind of beast. It drew most of their attention away. at that moment a ain’t monster came flying down from the sky. Holen was caught off guard because he didn’t think that there was any threat but he obviously looked at the sky.

His mind froze trying to find a way out of this situation but the monster was way too close not to notice any of them. The giant thing had one eye and two big wings. Just below its eye, it also had a mouth that seamlessly opened.

"AGHHH!!!!"

Kanku couldn’t hold his feelings and rushed out there’s simply no way he would survive that monster, even with all the knights here.

"Wait!" Holen warned the kid and reached out to him, but it was too late. The monster came right at them from above and opened its mouth wide. Its jaw and teeth were intimidating even for a knight like Jell. Its sharp teeth snapped onto Kanku who was running and screaming.

"Help!!!! AHGHGHHG!!!!"

Kanku screamed louder as he saw his own death approach. Oven who was the closest to the kid jumped to try to save the tribe kid, but he was far too slow. The monster already got their mouth on the kid.

However just before it could bite off the kid’s neck. The necklace flashed blue and enveloped the kid in blue light.

"AGH"

Kanku closed his eyes, he didn’t know what was happening. All he could think of was that he was an idiot, that it was a massive mistake to come here. Oven drew his sword ready to take down the monster, however, the moment hi iron hit the monster, it bounced off like it never hit.

"NO!!!"

Jell also closed in, his blade striking at the monster but that did nothing. They just couldn’t interact with anything here.

"HELPPP!!!!"

Kanku squeezed his voice out however, he could see nothing but red, and his upper body had been swallowed by the monster. His face couldn’t recreate the level of fear he was feeling right now.
