Extra's Perfect Ending-Chapter 313: Crime
"We have to get to the peak now!"
"Why?" Sanchez was curious. The sudden shift in Reeva’s attitude came as a surprise. From what he saw so far, the kid had been rather calm in most situations, only excited about something of a higher circle mystic.
"We can’t let Athan get his hand on the scepter!"
"Scepter?"
Reeva paused for a while; he was going to reveal that he knew this from the book, but it would be difficult to explain now. Athan, the immortal, went to Carmel Peak and obtained the scepter of the dead. An extremely strong mystic relic that allows you to rise from the dead.
In the book, he led a faction of heretics in the heretic uprising and caused chaos in the world. If Athan had that thing, he would be unstoppable—at least in the book version.
Athan’s property was that he was immortal. Add that to the fact that he could somehow control the scepter with no mystic power, and he went from an annoying prick to a major threat that was unkillable.
Reeva needed to stop that from happening. He already changed the story to the point that it was almost unrecognizable now, so it wouldn’t hurt to stop a major threat before it happened. Now he just needed a way to explain this believably.
The knowledge of the future was a sacred thing. The sun god and the pope possess a vast knowledge about this topic and both of them could judge if Reeva’s words about the future were true or not. However, Cardinal and Nena didn’t have such ability, Reeva even doubted that the saintess could read the truth of his word. So he had to pull out a card he always used.
"The lord told me that guy was a threat, no doubt he was the one that contacted the mother."
Sanchez was a bit skeptical about what Reeva just said but ultimately though it made sense. The sun god warned him about a potential threat relating to this shady guy who was working with his mother.
"Then we better hurry to the mountains, Nena grab him"
Nena gave a fatigued expression after being commanded by Sanchez again. Reeva, on the other hand, felt strange as the woman tossed him over her shoulder and raced off with incredible speed.
The Carmel Peak was not difficult to discover. It is visible from the Guragua border. People often referred to it as the pale blue giant since they could only see the blue mountain when it was covered in clouds.

"Why did you come here?"
Theia asked Hilda as she looked at the snowy sky. She thought it was an odd choice for the maid to come here after being asked by Athan. First of all, the guy was not trustworthy at all, he was a murderous madman who killed a village and made Hilda’s life worse.
From Theia’s perspective, she couldn’t perceive why Hilda, the uptight maid who’s very cautious would even be here. Moreover, the guy who asked her killed her family right in front of her. If it was Theia, she wouldn’t be standing near Athan at all.
"I don’t know... A hunch?"
"A mystic hunch? I thought that my brother made that up"
Hilda smiled a bit when Theia called Reeva "Brother". Even if it’s in a joking manner.
"Do you know who Reeva is?"
"A son of Duke Antores?"
She knew very little about Reeva at this point. Aside from the fact that her family treasure urged her to trust him and that he owned a fine restaurant. She initially assumed Reeva was a heretic, but he proved he wasn’t... or at least not a nasty one.
"Reeva..." Hilda said with a sad voice "He was a troubled child, born in the shadow of his brother. He always got compared to his perfect brother and in turn, made him miserable to be with. He always shouting and gambling. Even doing drugs and spending family money."
"Are we talking about the same person?..."
She heard vague rumors about Reeva from her family. After all son of a Duke was rather famous in the capital. However, she knew the bare minimum of Reeva before actually meeting the guy.
After meeting him, she discovered that the rumors were completely false. He may have had strange habits and creepy knowledge, but he was far from the drug and gambling fanatic that stories claimed.
"Truth was, the rumors were right. He did all of that and more"
"So, his body really got hijacked?"
It’s one of her working theories about Reeva, "Earth" was a place that she heard from the phone. There was no such thing as a place named Earth in Eyre. So Reeva must be from far away... but, Reeva himself was always seen around the capital.
"I’m not sure... The sun church had already inspected him and they found nothing. If he didn’t help you then the church would not be after us"
"I’m sorry..."
"Don’t worry, I’m sure Master would not fault you"
"You sure?"
"He like helping people and he himself wouldn’t admit to it. He often acted like it was just for his own greed but at the end of the day, he saved everyone."
"That doesn’t sound like the guy from before at all"
"True, there’s many contradictions when it comes to master but, at the end of the day, he saved an entire city from the heretic. That’s more than enough to trust him. Someday he will tell us what happened"
"You don’t know either? I thought he just wouldn’t tell me. You don’t know a place called Earth right?"
"Never heard of it"
"When did Reeva suddenly change?"
"Master got into a fight with one of his classmates. Then he broke his own foundation mystic item"
"Wait.. how is he not a husk!?"
Theia didn’t know a lot about mystic. All her knowledge came from a heretic and Reeva. The former taught her how to get started as a star user and the latter told her how to advance to a later stage.
She knew about the husk because the heretic warned her about it, telling her that it was a fate worse than death. A life without purpose, wandering the world without any real thought or goal. A husk of a human.
"Antores pulled many resources to make sure that didn’t happen. I thought that it was a side effect of being a husk that made him that way"
"That could happen?"
"I don’t know" Hilda answered honestly "We don’t know a lot of things about how power works, even mystic power given to people felt almost random."
"Huh.... wait how did we end up here... right why did we come up here in the first place? I thought you didn’t like Athan?" Theia felt like the conversation started to go sideway and reigned herself.
"..." Hilda articulated her thoughts, she herself also felt like she accepted that man’s proposal to come here on a whim. She wanted to see Carmel Peak and.... something...
"I think he reminds me of Master"
"Are you insane?"
"No, think about it. He was a mass murderer who suddenly turned to helping people. He changes... He also acts way nicer than people most people." Hilda felt a bit dry after saying those words, it was weird that he was praising her family killer. However, Athan’s action was far from the killer that he remembered him as.
"He still killed your family!!"
"And I killed him a dozen times" Hilda felt a bit of anger but then it turned mellow "But most of the time he didn’t even resist"
"That’s because he was in no real danger, and he is weak!"
"But could you really get used to dying? He claimed that he felt numb but sometimes I saw him look rather scared when I killed him.... I just don’t know"
"....."
"I mean what is the punishment for his crime anyway? We could not kill him, we could not lock him up. I couldn’t think of a worse thing I could do to him. I’m desperate to get something on the guy, I want to make him suffer the way I did all those years ago. That’s why I followed him here" Hilda looked at Theia
"I want to know what was the thing that he wanted, so I could maybe break it and make his life that much more miserable"

Theia shifts her body a bit away from Hilda. She could feel the anger radiating from the maid.
"I’m sorry.. again"
"No need. You’re not a dead weight because I’m a dead weight up there too" Hilda looked up at the storm and admired how violent it was, she would not be able to last up there if not for Egul Shield.
"So you’re gonna like steal his item?"
"That’s the plan"
"....."
Theia gulped and put not messing with Hilda up on the list of things not to do. "I wonder what they were doing up there?" Theia also looked up in the storm.
"Properly climbing the peak" Hilda answer with her usually tone, lacking any more emotion than nessesary.
