Extra's Re-awakening: System Errors Made Me Too OP-Chapter 41: A Last Resort
"Are you alright? Elene." The man asked.
Elene’s eyes widened, and she stared at the man in disbelief. "R-Rai..."
Xander’s eyes wavered in disbelief, the reason he disobeyed the rules of the association and entered into the orange Gate was because of him, but he never entered it till now?
The demon lieutenant was a bit startled, somehow, this human managed to escape the speed and range of his overrule.
Without warning, Zogratis stretched it’s right hand towards them and released another powerful and malicious energy towards Rai and Elene at ultra high speeds.
But in the blink of an eye, they vanished from Zogratis eyes, reappearing right in front of Xander and Hiro.
’He moved fast enough to evade my overrule again.’ The demon thought.
"Captain Hiro." Rai called out to Hiro as he placed Elene on the ground. "I leave her in your care." He added.
With an nod, Hiro checked up on her. Rai didn’t forget about the Primordial Earth Essen-Beast. He knew very well that it was the demon’s true target. Initially, Rai decided to stall a bit, because he knew that retrieving the Soul Stone before hand would not be in their favor.
That is, if he made his move earlier, Livinus wouldn’t have revealed himself, and the mystery behind the orange gate wouldn’t have been solved. But his decision created a huge problem.
’What the hell is this?’ Rai thought, his eyes wavering a bit as he glanced at Zogratis, in the original series, after the Primordial Earth Essen-Beast’s seal was broken, it was an A-Tier Soul-Beast that responded to it’s energy.
But now, for some unexplainable reason, the storyline had changed. It wasn’t an A-Tier Soul-Beast anymore, it was the worst possible scenario he could have ever imagined. A Primordial Demon.
"Tch, is this another attempt to get rid of me?" To be honest, this was almost as far as Rai could remember in the Path To Ascension, and the reason for that was because of his constant hustle to gather the money for his mother’s treatment in his previous life.
So truly all he remembered was up to the Primordial Clash Arc, and thankfully, he did.
’That kid... He managed to evade Zogratis’s Overrule? Now this should be interesting.’ Mazmuth thought, he wanted to step in and at least give the Hunters time to escape, but now, it seems the tides had turned, hopefully.
"Tch." Rai scoffed, he trained and levelled up this far for this purpose, but he never expected that it would be a Primordial Demon that would show up in the place of the A-Tier Soul-Beast.
He could feel it’s malicious energy clearly, it was gnawing at his cores, almost like a predator trying to break the barrier between it and it’s prey. Rai immediately realized that if he didn’t go all out, it would mean his end.
He stretched out his right hand, and channelled the Soul-Energy from Stormfangs core. Electricity coursed through his arms and towards his hand, building up into a blue ball of energy in his palm.
Then, he squeezed the ball of electricity in his palms tightly, sending the electric currents coursing through his whole body. His hair immediately spiked up as an electric burden was now placed on his body.
"Limit Break: Electric Burst Evolved." The energy from the Burst was wild and almost untamed, and it created a small wind pressure that blew past the hairs of the rest of the Soul-Hunters.
’So this is Rai’s Soul-Technique...’ Xander thought, gritting his teeth in a bit of rage, he raised his arms to prevent the wind from hurling particles of dust in his eyes. This was the first time seeing this electric burst up close, and it’s wild untamed power was unlike what he saw back at the second selection.
Rai stepped forward and disappeared, a rush of wind left swirling where he had been. In the next instant, he appeared above Zogratis and swung a fast roundhouse kick at his neck.
The demon caught it with his palm, stopping the strike with ease. To everyone else, Rai looked like a blur, but to Zogratis, it was something else entirely.
Rai’s eyes widened, shocked by how quickly Zogratis had reacted. But he couldn’t waste time on his surprise.
He knew that only Primordial Essence could harm a Primordial demon. In an instant, he gathered Raisen from his Shadow Soul-Core and boosted it with the power of Electric Burst Evolved. Without hesitation, he aimed it straight at the demon’s back.
"What!?" Mazmuth mumbled under his breath, his eyes fixed at the kid who just made a flashy entrance. It was small and not as powerful as it is supposed to be but he definitely sensed it.
The energy of a Primordial being flowing through Rai. "That kid has the energy of a Primordial being?"
"I... Overrule" As Zogratis spoke in a low whisper, a strange and powerful force pushed the Raisen away and hurled Rai down to the ground near the other Soul-Hunters. He hit the ground hard, blood spilling from his mouth as he coughed.
"Rai!" They all raced towards him.
"Tch... Even Raisen isn’t enough?" Rai whispered as he slowly rose to his knees. The Raisen came from his Shadow Soul-Core, but it was also born from the Primordial Soul-Energy Kuriyami had given him.
It was the strongest weapon he had, the only chance to even scratch Zogratis, but with the power he had now, it still wasn’t enough.
It’d be impossible.
’That technique may be underdeveloped, but I never imagined a mere kid would have the energy of a Primordial being within him. Even so, it still wasn’t enough to even scratch Zogratis, tch, as expected, without me joining the fight they wouldn’t stand a chance. But even if I’d fight I haven’t recovered my full strength, and they won’t run either... In that case.’
"Hey, humans.." Mazmuth called out to them.
They all looked up at the Primordial Essen-Beast’s towering figure.
"You really aren’t going to run if I told you too are you? You humans are nothing but a pain in the neck." Mazmuth let out a sigh before opening his mouth, gathering a swirling ball of emerald energy inside. In a flash, he released it toward them, and their eyes widened in horror.
By the time Zogratis realized what he was trying to do, it was too late. "It can’t be!" The demon dashed forward towards the Soul-Hunters.
"Trying to give those humans some of your Essence? I won’t allow you!" Zogratis stretched out his long, jagged claws and slashed downward toward the hunters. The force of the strike was so great it unleashed a shockwave that tore through everything in its path, threatening to wipe them out as well.
The demon levitated above the ground, then turned around to face Mazmuth, in it’s mind, it had gotten rid of an irrelevant problem. "Now then, Primordial Earth Essen-Beast, I will be taking you."
Before they could move, its brows twitched and it lifted its head slightly, sensing its space being disturbed by an unknown force. "What?" The demon turned around, and found Rai right above him.
"Electric Soul-Technique: Electric Burst!" With a sharp grunt, Rai drove a ball of emerald energy, crackling with blue sparks, into Zogratis’s back.
For a moment, the demon staggered under the force of the Soul-Technique, then it was overwhelmed and slammed into the ground as a small explosion erupted. Sparks of electricity flared and burst against Zogratis’s body in the blast.
Rai landed on his feet a few meters away from the demon lieutenant, he stared into his palm at the level of power he attained at the moment. "So this is the power of a Primordial Essen-Beast at half it’s strength?" A flash of blue and emerald light flashed off his body as he was still under the influence of the Electric Burst Evolved.
"What is this?" Elene stuttered, she felt her power growing even more than it already was.
"I gave you all a portion of my Essence, we Primordial Essen-Beasts have the ability to share our Essence just as I did with the previous Soul-King for a long time." Mazmuth explained.
Zogratis rose to his feet, a faint bruise marking his back from the earth-infused [Electric Burst] he had taken head-on. He let out a low chuckle, amused and slightly surprised that a mere human had managed to leave even that much of a mark on him.
"How dare you?" He felt violated, like a bacteria or disease had infected his body. "You filthy parasite!"
He dashed forward at them, with the objective of destroying them in one swift move.
"He’s coming!" Elene exclaimed.
"I don’t know about you all, but I think it’s damn time we show this bastard what a Soul-Hunter can do!" Hiro clenched his fist, Livinus’s death still took a toll on him, and he swore to pay it back to the demon tenfold.
"Yes! Captain!" Now enhanced by the essence of the earth Essen-Beast, they all charged forward at Zogratis. Their strength, agility, Soul-Techniques and speed were all greatly enhanced by the essence of the Primordial beast.
As they all stepped into range, Zogratis slashed it’s serrated class down at them. But thanks to their enhanced speed, they pivoted and dodged his claws just in time.
"Let’s try this again." Hiro spoke in a cold voice, then dropped down and landed firmly on his two hands. Without pause, he sprang upward, driving his foot straight into the demon’s chest.
The power of his kick sent Zogratis flying into the sky with a grunt. Hiro then gathered all his strength into his hands and launched himself upward, soaring above the demon.
Hiro spun sideways at ultra high speeds, flipping through the air at great speed. His body soon became like a spinning vortex. "This is for Livinus!"
"Storm Bringer!" He drove his foot into Zogratis’s back, and propelled him down towards the ground where the other Soul-Hunter’s were waiting for him.
As Zogratis descended, Elene stretched out her palms with purpose.
"Zen Soul-Technique: Psychic Wave!" With the earth essence enhancing her power, she unleashed a swirling wave of energy that sent ripples through the air, and it slammed into the demon’s face, sending him hurling straight at Xander.
"I’ll be the one to defeat you! Flame Soul-Technique: Prominence Fist!" With Prominence Fist being his second and the one out of the two Soul-Technique he developed specifically for the Soul-Hunter’s examination, he drove it straight into Zogratis’s face again and he came flying at Rai with high speeds.
Finally, Rai stretched out his palm, and built up a spiralling green ball of energy, surrounded by blue sparks of electricity which grew intensely each passing second.
"Now! Human child!" Mazmuth proclaimed.
"Do it! Rai!!"
"Soul-Technique: Electric Burst!" Rai slammed the swirling ball of electricity into Zogratis’s chest, and the impact sent the demon hurtling through the air. When he hit the ground, a massive explosion erupted, tearing down several trees and releasing a shockwave that threw everyone off balance.
As the rising dust began to settle, the Soul-Hunters slowly pushed themselves to their feet, their eyes locked on the fading cloud, none of them daring to blink.
"Did we do it?"
As they all thought it was over, Rai’s eyes widened in disbelief, for the first time since he defeated Stormfang in the dungeon, the system revealed a notification in a blue translucent HUD window that hovered in Rai’s line of vision.
[Severe Bloodlust has been detected]
[Eliminate threat: 0/1]
"W—What?"
As the dust cleared, their eyes all widened in disbelief as they caught a glimpse of Zogratis standing, his skin burnt and bruised by their combined attack, and more importantly, he was pissed.
"How dare you... You filthy creatures." His twisted voice rumbled through the air as he clapped his palms together. The atmosphere turned icy, and a crushing force pressed down heavily on the Soul-Hunters.
"Primordial Demon Mode."
