Extreme Cold Era: Shelter Don't Keep Waste-Chapter 725 - 678: Inception Space
"Where is this?" Trivank shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts.
"The outer layer of the Count's dreamscape; from the surroundings, it seems to be Beloburg in her dream." Kelin looked around and offered an inconclusive answer.
"Is there such a thing in Beloburg City? What the hell is that?" Trivank looked up and was stunned by what he saw.
"A flying castle, a gear structure so large it covers the entire city..." Kelin was also shocked by the scene, but he wasn't particularly surprised, since in a dream, nothing is too strange to see.
However, he couldn't help but say, "This might be the Count's vision for Beloburg's future, so she's capable of creating a flying city? It seems her airborne battleship plan is not as simple as it appears."
"How can the city of mortals hang high in the sky? Only the Divine's palaces have such privilege and glory!" Trivank ground his teeth, and it seemed as if something was writhing beneath his skin, threatening to burst free with his anger.
Yet Kelin quickly placed a hand on his shoulder, restraining him and said, "Calm down! If you can't stay composed, leave her dreamscape now! I don't want to face a flying fortress at full firepower!
This is her dreamscape, her subconscious controls everything here, and if you don't follow the rules, you'll be expelled from her dreamscape."
"Got it, take your hand off!" Trivank took several deep breaths, trying to contain his anger.
After spending some time, Trivank finally managed to calm his fury and followed Kelin towards the city center.
"In a dreamscape, the dream's host is usually located at the center of the dream. Given the Count's personality, she might be in that high-rise in the city's center! But since you provoked her dream with a dream thief earlier, I'm not sure if she'll have moved to a safer place." Kelin looked at the towering building ahead and sighed.
At this point, with his emotions finally under control, Trivank looked at the tall building in front of him and couldn't help but express doubt: "Isn't this the Brandelis Hotel? I remember it only has a dozen floors? How could it be so tall here? Is the perception of this Bloody Count so far off?"
"It's not a perception error; you previously had a dream thief provoke her dreamscape, which induced a sense of insecurity in her subconscious, hence heightened defenses." Kelin explained, leading Trivank through a busy intersection: "In a dreamscape, the safer the dreamer feels, the more stable and safe the dreamscape is, though it might contain some odd fantasies, most of which correspond to the dream host's cognition.
But if the dream host is stimulated, and the subconscious feels threatened, the dreamscape will experience violent fluctuations, even distorting and completely detaching from ordinary cognition.
When everything peaks irreversibly, the entire dreamscape will collapse, and the dream host will wake up.
So don't do anything conspicuous, nor throw tantrums in the streets. In reality, we could hide in an alley as long as we're not seen.
But here, everyone you see is an embodiment of her consciousness; any illogical incident will exacerbate her suspicion and discomfort, eventually causing the entire dreamscape to collapse."
"What happens if the dreamscape collapses?" Trivank frowned and asked Kelin.
"Nothing much; we'll be shredded along with her dreamscape, no way to escape." Kelin responded with a cruel smirk, yet without a hint of concern.
Trivank's brow furrowed tighter, anger welled up within him, tempted to teach Kelin a lesson.
But for some reason, he never managed to give Kelin the lesson he deserved.
"I'll settle the score with you outside!" Trivank thought but continued to follow Kelin.
After traversing several streets, they finally reached an open flower-filled square, where people danced under a fountain, accompanied by a complete orchestra.
"This is a place of inner peace and hope; it seems the Count has a fondness for music and art, evidenced by the nearby galleries and museums." Kelin explained to Trivank, while also reminding him not to make any misleading actions: "All these people are projections of the Count's consciousness; if you mess around here, it means she's already aware of our presence.
So smile, or pretend you're engrossed in the music, and don't arouse suspicion."
Kelin explained with a fake smile-like expression, implying his sarcasm while explaining to Trivank.
Through Kelin's explanation, Trivank knew what to do.
However, he obviously wasn't used to smiling, so he pretended to be intensely focused, as if on the music.
Though his serious look drew several people's attention around him, since he didn't engage in any conspicuous behavior, he didn't cause any trouble.
After carefully passing through the square, they reached a wide street that led directly to the skyscraper at the city center.
"Let's proceed along this path; it seems somewhat distant, see if there's anything we can use." Kelin looked up, realizing they were quite far from the central skyscraper; even though they wouldn't tire in the dreamscape, it was still time-consuming.
"Why is there a train in the city?" Trivank pointed to the tracks in the road center, with a puzzled look: "What is the Bloody Count thinking? Isn't she worried about someone getting hit by a train?"
"I think that's not a train, but... another mode of transportation." Kelin looked to the other side, where a transport resembling a train, though noticeably slower, was moving along the tracks.
"What is this?" Trivank felt he might never understand what others' dreams are.
"It should be some kind of urban transport the Count envisioned, though it helps us conveniently reach the city center." Saying this, Kelin took Trivank and jumped onto the transport moving along the tracks. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Although their sudden boarding caused a slight commotion, with the dream thief's help, they quickly quelled the issue, smoothly heading towards the city center.
