Chapter 153: Contacting the future supreme Luna_Part 2

It wasn’t easy for Evan and Beta Eliot to finally reach Viola, and even that hadn’t been through her personal contact but through an omega that Evan had intimidated into taking a phone and delivering it to the future supreme Luna with the message that her father wanted a word with her.

The omega had been reluctant, but the menacing look in Evan’s eyes and the fact that he had told her that the future supreme Luna’s father was on the call had made her take the phone. She made sure she wasn’t being followed before she went and knocked on Viola’s door.

Viola, who was currently lying face down on her couch as she was still suffering from lingering cramps in her stomach after the painkiller’s effects had worn off and she couldn’t remain in her bed, heard the knock and frowned.

She slowly sat up and looked at the door, her heart beating a little faster at the thought that perhaps Sebastian had come back. She had been angry with him and she still was, and had told herself she wished he would never come back or speak to her again, but there was a stupid and utterly unreasonable side of her heart that longed for him regardless, and she hated it deeply.

She managed to get up and went to unlock the door, but was mildly disappointed to find one of the omega maids standing there, one of the newly recruited young ones who looked no more than seventeen and had come from the packless new members, holding out a phone to her.

"Ma’am, your father is on the call."

Viola blinked in confusion, looking from the girl to the phone in her hand before she said, "I don’t have a father. Who told you to bring this phone to me?"

The call was already connected, and Beta Eliot on the other end heard her words and rebuked sharply, "You ungrateful little wench! How dare you disrespect me, your father?!"

Viola heard Beta Eliot’s angry voice through the phone as it was on speaker, and her brows subtly knitted together. She could have chosen not to reach for the phone, but she reached for it anyway, and then dismissed the terrified-looking young omega with a small smile before stepping back inside and closing the door behind her.

"Ungrateful wench?" Viola mused with a bitter laugh. "If I am ungrateful, Eliot, then tell me, what are you?" She asked, using his name without a single title of respect, for Viola had lost every ounce of respect she had ever held for this man who had once been her father. A man she had given more than she had to give just to please him. Unfortunately, this man had always been too consumed by his own ambitions to ever see her struggles, too blinded by his selfish desires to ever truly see her at all.

Beta Eliot’s face flushed red at her words. "You have no respect for your elders and I have known that right from the very start. But that was my own fault for expecting to undo the dirty upbringing of the slums from your body. You can take a person out of the streets but you can never take the streets out of them. You have always been a troublesome child who is never grateful!"

Viola had to pull the phone away from her ear before he burst her eardrum with his scolding. But rather than his words stinging her the way they would have in the past, back when she had given everything she had just to please this man, they only brought a quiet prick of sadness. Because it was truly sad to finally see, so clearly, just how little he had ever appreciated everything she had done for his sake.

Viola had always been a stubborn girl, but her stubbornness had never extended to her adoptive family, because no matter what, she had been grateful to them for giving her a family even when she felt she didn’t deserve one. She would go out of her way to please Beta Eliot, studying the things she knew he liked and presenting them to him just to earn his approval and love.

She had once noticed that shifting into his wolf form was causing him back pain in his human form, and Viola had spent an entire week glued to her computer trying to find him the right medicine. And when she finally found it, it had cost her to sell a lot of her favorite items to afford it for him.

So many things she had done, all just to please this man, and in the end he had cast her aside without a second thought. And now he expected her respect?

"If I am so disrespectful, Eliot, then what brings you to send someone knocking on my door with a phone? This disrespectful girl has nothing to do with a respected man like you." Viola said sarcastically, moving to sit down on her couch as standing was sending painful cramps shooting through her and making her legs tremble.

She could literally hear him breathing furiously through the phone, but she didn’t care. She was done trying to please him and his family, and she no longer had any relationship with them, because they had severed those ties four years ago.

Beta Eliot drew in a long, deep breath to cool the temper this useless girl was so efficiently stoking in his veins. "Alpha Evan and I want to meet the supreme Alpha. I want you to find a way to make it happen before tomorrow, do you understand me?" He demanded, and then, just to add enough weight to his words to make her comply, Beta Eliot added,

"If our meeting turns out satisfactory, we will welcome you back into our family and I will give you away as your father at the wedding. You must miss your siblings and your mother, you can come to our room to see them."

For a good ten seconds, Viola didn’t blink at Beta Eliot’s words. She stared at the quickly darkening evening sky through her glass walls, utterly still. She almost laughed at what he had just said. Did he think she was begging for his family’s affection or that she still wanted to be a part of them in any way?

Just how shameless could one person truly get? Did he honestly think that after allowing her to suffer for four years, he could come to her demanding her assistance and she would foolishly hand it over to him?

Viola couldn’t help it, she began to laugh. Her laughter rang through the phone and reached Beta Eliot on the other end, who was left thoroughly confused, for he had fully expected her to jump at the chance to assist them. He had always known her as a child desperately scraping for a family’s affection, one who would do absolutely anything as long as they acknowledged her as their own.

"What’s so funny?" Beta Eliot demanded.

Viola wiped the corner of her eye with a finger as she said, "You, Eliot. You know what, I could eat a bowl of elephant soup and still manage to produce a smarter statement than that. Has anyone ever told you what the phrase ’you reap what you sow’ actually means? I am no longer your family and I have no desire to be. I do not know you anymore. If you want to speak to my fiancé, find a way to do it that doesn’t involve me." She said calmly, and was about to end the call when she heard cursing on the other end and then another voice took over from Beta Eliot.

"You ungrateful bitch! How dare you turn your back on a pack that welcomed you with open arms from the slum?!" Came Evan’s furious voice, and it sent sharp pins straight into Viola’s heart, twisted her already aching stomach and clogged her throat with emotions she had no power over. Her fingers tightened around the phone and the mark at the back of her neck glowed faintly.

Viola was aware that the more she resisted the mark, the more painfully it would hurt her heart, but she would rather endure a thousand of those pains than submit to an animal like Evan.

"Watch your tongue, Evan. You are currently in my fiancé’s territory, I can have you thrown out of it within a second." Viola warned, the stabbing pain inside her steadily increasing with every word because she was going against him.

Evan let out a dry, humorless laugh. "I have always known you to be an ungrateful bitch, but I never thought you would repay our pack this way. I heard you got that position because of some stupid competition, don’t let it go to your head too much, because I will be right here waiting for the day the supreme Alpha throws you out just like I did, the moment he sees the real you. A selfish, no good, heartless woman. You had better treat us right so you have somewhere to return to once he gets tired of you. No man in his right mind will keep a—"

Viola’s insides were boiling and the back of her throat was burning raw, but rather than continue to sit there and listen to his insults stab her straight through the heart and twist it, she ended the call and stared at the blank screen, her throat moving up and down as she swallowed against the tightness there.

"This is the beginning of Moonwillow’s suffering..." She muttered in a barely audible voice, and then she hurled the phone across the room and straight into the wall, only then remembering that it belonged to Evan, and felt even more satisfied as it shattered on impact.

She would rather endure the intense, relentless pain of his mark than ever give in to it, and she would see to it that the feud he so desperately tried to fix never got fixed. Moonwillow would never see a single benefit from her future husband’s pack!
