Game's Extra: Starting With SSS-Ranked 1000-Death Talent-Chapter 67: Plans
Noa asked about the instructors who had shown an interest in him.
His very presence interrupted the lesson, not allowing the teacher to speak about whatever she had been talking about.
"All of them," the unfamiliar female teacher answered, locking her eyes with Noa’s. "Every single instructor wanted to take you as their disciple. But some of them are angry because of your absence."
"Hmm..." Noa said, finally finding an empty seat.
"Why are they showing an attitude when they should be trying to win me over? I am not the one begging. It’s not like my options are limited."
He spoke casually.
But his words and carefree expression stunned the classmates.
Noa was too bold, too rude, and too arrogant.
Either he was stupid for acting this way, or he had something up his sleeve.
What the other students could realize was that strength was Noa’s sole basis for acting this way.
He understood how the world worked better than they did, even if he was a novice on Velrox.
Because of his talent, power, and experience, Noa knew he was a sought-after resource no academy could risk losing.
Especially when the qualifier was starting and strong candidates were needed.
The teacher forced a smile.
But she still scolded Noa for his rudeness.
"That’s not the right way to speak about your elders. Society doesn’t work like that. You need to show respect to be respected."
She went on a one-minute rant about his attitude and how he should fix it.
Every word she said flew into Noa’s one ear and flew out of the other, leaving nothing in his head.
"What about groups?" he asked after the woman finished her speech. "Did you already team up?"
The no-name shy girl next to him nodded.
"I see. Where are my lucky teammates?" he asked loudly, looking for the raised hands.
Luckily, the girl next to him was the first one to signal.
"Sweet. Nice to meet you, friend!" Noa exclaimed cheerfully, taking the girl’s hand for a handshake.
The poor girl struggled to escape his close gaze and touchiness.
Noa, unaware of his surroundings, looked out for other group mates and saw three more arms raised lazily.
’Should I say damn it, or hell yes!’ he pondered.
He didn’t comment further and went quiet, allowing the teacher to finish the lesson.
Yet the loud ringing sounds of the bell cut her words mid-sentence.
The students stood up, their chatter filling the room.
Noa felt more than one gaze and pairs of peering eyes in his direction.
"Here he is," someone stated, "acting all high and mighty as if he owns this place. I don’t know why they even allowed him into the classroom when he was so late."
"Be quiet, you stupid maggot! What if he heard you? Who is going to save your sorry ass?"
"Don’t you remember what he did to Tomas and Amelia?"
Murmurs echoed throughout the room, giving Noa even more attention than yesterday.
The bully couple was present.
They grit their teeth in anger, feeding on their frustration and planning to get revenge.
As for Noa, he didn’t get up from his seat.
Instead, he waited for the remaining team members to approach him and the shy girl who didn’t dare to leave her seat.
’Here they are!’ he mused.
"What a grand entrance! I am jealous of your steel balls, man!" Ezra, the familiar green-eyed boy, talked to him.
He was a promising student with A-rank talent.
His extraordinary agility made him a good contender for the tournament.
"I would say it was too flashy. Why would you try to get on bad terms with the teachers?" Rika, the most popular girl in class, asked with her eyes flaring with irritation.
"Why not when I can?" Noa joked.
Then he looked at the last member of his team, shaking his head but flashing a smile.
"Wow, so lucky for me to be with my friend and a guy with the same name!" he said to Arthur, thinking of the game scenario.
’It was the same group, but instead of me, there was one more girl. She died because of the instructor’s betrayal.’
The groups weren’t made for nothing.
There were some mini-tournaments and games between the teams, with the best-performing groups receiving monetary rewards and other grade-appropriate bonuses.
"Arthur vouched for you," Ezra said as he placed his hands on the boy’s shoulders. "He said you would make a great teammate."
"Really?" Noa narrowed his eyes, looking at Arthur with surprise.
"Of course not!" the boy denied firmly. "I just said that we needed someone strong."
Hearing his statement, Noa laughed out loud, drawing stares in his direction.
"And you chose me? What a great friend. Thanks, buddy, I won’t disappoint you," Noa said softly and cheerfully.
’He wants to observe me closely,’ he guessed. ’What a coincidence. I want to do the same.’
As for the timid girl, Noa searched through his memory and couldn’t find an image of her. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Still, she was part of his group, and Noa had to befriend her.
There was quite some time before the last lesson started, which was about survival in the wilderness.
The Abyss was a tough place.
Not only with monsters inhabiting almost every place, but nature itself was the deadliest enemy.
It was an interesting course that Noa would gladly listen to.
"Did I miss something important? Except for the instructor selection?"
But before the lesson started, he spent the ten-minute break finally making connections and befriending his classmates.
"Not really," the introverted girl, whose name turned out to be Martha, answered. "All the teachers did was talk non-stop and give me a headache."
Noa snorted, enjoying the atmosphere.
"Did you really buy a house?" Rika asked, changing the subject.
"Yep, really comfy and luxurious one. You guys can visit me one day," he offered.
Soon, as Noa was getting used to the academy life, the bell rang, announcing the start of the next course.
As for the instructor, it was someone Noa remembered clearly.
It was a man who was chosen as Arthur’s team mentor and caused the death of his teammate by leaving them inside the Abyss.
Noa had plans for this man.
