Chapter 228: Chapter 268: Angry Lana

Unlike her past life, where she had been helpless and at the mercy of others, this life belonged to her.

She finally had something she could call her own.

Her gaze shifted back to Mr. Crow, and she smiled lightly. "By the way, when is your birthday?"

Mr. Crow blinked, startled. "Why do you want to know?"

"I genuinely want to," Lana replied. "You’re far more advanced than a normal crow. Surely you know your own birthday."

He frowned, thinking hard. "It should be sometime in winter. I don’t remember the exact date."

Lana raised an eyebrow. It was already November, and December was approaching.

’So, his birthday must be in December,’ she concluded. A quiet decision formed in her heart.

She would celebrate it. After all, this crow had brought more humor and warmth into her life than she realized.

As the scenery outside drifted past her eyes, they soon arrived at her mansion. The moment she stepped inside, she froze. Lucian was sitting in the living room.

Surprise flickered across her face before she walked up to him with a bright smile. "What are you doing here? Did you take the day off?"

Lucian looked at her helplessly. "If I didn’t know better, I’d think you had a problem with me being here."

Lana waved her hand dismissively. "Of course not. I appreciate you being here."

That night, Lana and Lucian had dinner together. Even though she didn’t know why he had returned so early, she couldn’t stop smiling. Seeing him, even once in a while, always lifted her mood.

As she finished her dinner and searched for an excuse to linger, Lucian’s calm voice reached her. "How has your life been lately?"

She paused, then smiled softly. "Everything’s going great."

Lucian nodded thoughtfully before looking at her again. "Have you made a boyfriend yet?"

The moment those words left Lucian’s mouth, Lana froze as if her mind had suddenly gone blank.

Meanwhile, Mr. Crow narrowed his eyes, a sharp glint flashing through them. ’So the fox finally shows his tail,’ he sneered inwardly.

Lana, however, could hardly believe her ears.

’A boyfriend?’ Her thoughts echoed in disbelief.

Since when did Lucian start caring about such things?

In her previous life, he had never bothered.

To be precise, other than Lucian himself and Lucian’s mansion, Lana had barely left home. Even when she did step outside, she was always by his side.

It would be more accurate to say that in her previous life, Lucian never once doubted that Lana could possibly have a boyfriend.

But this life was different. Completely different.

Now, Lana was constantly surrounded by people.

From his perspective, every one of them looked like a vulture, circling patiently, waiting for a chance to tear something apart.

Lucian recalled the reports he had received.

He had suppressed his anger for a long time, forcing himself to analyze the situation calmly.

Only after understanding what was truly happening did he decide to strike directly, aiming straight at this seemingly innocent yet overly alert rabbit.

Lana was stunned by the question, but instinctively, she shook her head.

Seeing this, Lucian relaxed visibly. A calm smile appeared on his face, this time laced with unmistakable relief. "That’s good," he said gently.

"You should focus on your studies. You’re only twenty. There’s no need to rush into a relationship."

His tone turned serious. "Besides, there are many enemies watching you. It would be better if you didn’t focus on romance."

Lana immediately raised her hand, stopping him mid-sentence. Her eyes hardened.

Even if she liked Lucian, it didn’t give him the right to lecture her. No one had that right, except Mr. Crow.

She looked straight at him, her expression solemn. "I understand your concern," her voice was steady, "but I don’t understand why you think you can lecture me. Whether I have a boyfriend or not is my decision. Either way, it has nothing to do with you."

Lucian paused. So did Mr. Crow.

Mr. Crow hadn’t expected those words at all. In fact, pride swelled in his chest.

Other girls might have lowered their heads, blinded by affection for their crush.

But Lana was different. She always knew her priorities. Her dignity and personal space came first, and she never allowed anyone to cross that line.

Despite everything she had experienced, she remained clear-minded and sober. For that alone, he felt truly blessed.

Lucian looked at Lana for a long moment before speaking again, his tone noticeably calmer.

"I wasn’t lecturing you. I was only reminding you of possible dangers."

Lana nodded. She stood up, her movements composed. "I know. I’ll remember it." Her gaze was polite yet distant. "And I’ll take your words seriously."

With that, she bowed slightly and turned away. Her cold, indifferent demeanor spoke louder than words.

She was dissatisfied, deeply so, with Lucian intruding into her personal life.

As Lana walked away, Mr. Crow shot Lucian a disdainful glance.

’This fool... does he really think he can restrict her movements and she’ll obediently follow?’ The thought almost made him scoff.

He flapped his wings and happily flew toward Lana, perching on her shoulder.

The satisfaction still wasn’t enough. He glanced smugly back at Lucian, puffed up his chest, then deliberately looked away.

Lucian caught the gesture. He tilted his head, narrowed his eyes, then suddenly clapped his hands together softly. He didn’t follow Lana.

Instead, he reflected on himself. ’I crossed a line,’ he admitted inwardly.

For now, there was no real relationship between them. At most, they were sponsor and sponsored. Beyond that, nothing. His words had indeed been inappropriate.

Back in her room, Lana began making talismans.

At first, Mr. Crow enjoyed the sight. Lana was clearly angry at Lucian, and it showed.

But as time passed, his amusement faded. He realized she was pouring all that anger into her work, channeling it relentlessly into the talismans. Her mystic energy was draining rapidly, and concern crept into his heart.

Without hesitation, he waited for her to stop.

She didn’t. By four in the morning, he could no longer stand it. He jumped straight onto the talisman she was forming.
