Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle-Chapter 703: Zombie King
Chapter 703: Zombie King
Tundra gritted his teeth, seeing how dangerous the Zombie was.
“Damn it. It’s adapting…”
At this time, he could probably just rain on the Zombie with his bombs. However, looking at the terrain, they would have a hard time filling it up later if he added more craters.
The structural integrity of the walls might also suffer some damage if he created more earthquakes…
Thankfully, he wasn’t desperate yet. They still had a chance of winning without any casualties…
“Warden Units, engage!” He ordered.
Of course, he also informed the others to retreat and get treated by the medics since he didn’t want any casualties today.
Just like that, ten of the standby Warden Units activated and charged into the field.
Their mechanical steps thundered as their mounted arms started rotating into battle mode.
The battle started almost immediately.
One fired an energy net, aiming to restrict the zombie’s movement again. Another began firing non-stop upgraded bullets… These bullets even seemed glowing with their enhancement as they struck the Zombie.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
The monster staggered slightly. Finally, it was already heavily wounded. Still, it was a strong Zombie and retaliated with another screech that rippled through the circuits of the Warden Units.
Being too close, three Warden Units collapsed, their systems shorting from the frequency interference.
In the watchtower, Tundra’s eyes narrowed.
“…That sonic power again.”
The battle continued as the Warden Units and Super Soldiers, together with the snipers, tried to kill the Zombie.
It was already twenty minutes of combined assault from Super Soldiers, turrets, Warden Units, and some bombs.
Still, the Zombie kept regenerating and hadn’t been killed yet. This one doesn’t seem to have any brain, and its Zombie Core could not be found.
Even its tongues, which had been burned and severed earlier, were slowly regrowing.
“…It’s not just a Leader Variant. It’s definitely a Zombie King. A Sonic Lurker King Variant, just like what they said.”
A Zombie King that was already reaching the level of Zombie Lord… It was definitely a wake-up call. This means that the Zombie Lords they might be encountering once again would probably be stronger than ever.
Perhaps, their strength would be as strong as the Flying Zombie Lord that many had previously failed to defeat at the last hour of the Fourth Zombie Wave.
Still, that would explain everything—its size, its mutation level, its resistance to coordinated attacks, and most of all, its ability to unleash a directional sonic wave that killed machines and disrupted minds.
“Let’s adjust our tactics! Do NOT let it sing again!”
Tundra breathed in and cracked his knuckles. This time, he wanted to fight in front!
“Fine, freak. You wanna sing?” He muttered, grabbed three bombs from his belt, and jumped from the Tower.
Thud! frёewebnoѵēl.com
Tundra landed as the ground cracked beneath his boots.
“Time to silence the diva,” He growled as he sprinted to the Zombie.
The Sonic Lurker King had turned its head toward him. Its three damaged tongues whipped and flexed, as it wanted to attack him.
However, its tongues were mostly severed already, so it could only twitch at him…
Still, the ground shook as it stomped forward to meet the new threat.
“Super Soldiers!” Tundra ordered. “Draw its attention! I need ten seconds of clear positioning!”
“Roger!”
The battered yet unbroken Super Soldiers surged forward once again. Despite injuries and fatigue, they were still the perfect soldiers of the Eclipse Revenant Clan!
They split up into a wide arc, encircling the suspected Zombie King in perfect coordination. One soldier activated a mana-shield device, absorbing the first lashing tongue attack and blocking the King’s line of sight.
Another soldier leapt onto a raised ledge and hurled a flare imbued with light magic, momentarily blinding the monster and halting its sonic buildup.
“Now!” shouted Tundra.
He threw the first bomb—Graviton Imploder.
The ground pulsed again.
This time, it hit harder than before. The gravitational pull slammed into the zombie’s legs and dragged it several meters off balance. For a moment, it stumbled.
“Let’s lock you down,” Tundra whispered, arming the second.
Cryo-Stasis Charge—deployed.
With the King’s movement disrupted, the cryo-bomb detonated mid-air, sending a wave of supercooled mist directly at the monster’s body.
Just like before, Frost crawled over its chest and limbs, locking its muscles with ice that went deeper than the last time.
Perhaps, due to its injury, the frost effect was a lot better than before.
The creature shrieked as it struggled against the compounding forces locking its body in place.
Then came the third.
Corrosive Venom Bomb.
Tundra knew that venom would not work against Zombies… However, its corrosive effect was something that it could not ignore.
Tundra tossed it beneath the zombie’s belly just as it managed to tear away the frost.
Whoosh~
The bomb exploded with a hiss—not fire, not pressure—but a thick, emerald mist of acid and poison. The corrosive cloud clung to its flesh, melting away armor-like skin and hissing against its regenerating tissues.
Soon, black blood and flesh poured from open wounds.
“Snipers, now!” Tundra roared.
From the rooftops and towers, a synchronized volley of upgraded bolts and bullets whistled through the air—every one of them aimed at fractured joints, open wounds, and exposed veins.
Thud! Thud! THUD!
Each hit was precise, cutting deeper than any previous shot.
Then, the Warden Units made their move.
Despite being damaged, they moved with mechanical precision. Four of them raised plasma-infused halberds, striking together to sever two of the massive tongues mid-flail.
The King howled—this time a warbling cry that attempted to build into a final song.
But Tundra was already running.
He leapt onto the back of one Warden Unit, using it as a springboard to vault high into the air.
Mid-flight, he held his Explosive Fire Bomb…
The Zombie opened its mouth, hoping to use another sound attack, but it was already too late!
“Shut. Up.”
He hurled it into the monster’s wide-open mouth.
BOOOOOOM!!!
The explosion erupted from within as flames poured out of the creature’s throat instead!
