Chapter 648: Chapter 648. Forward

The sea creature was a large lobster—a rank 1 intermediate-stage universe-level lifeform.

"Didn’t expect prey to be here," the sea creature said. With its will, a water silhouette of it appeared. An ethereal, majestic, and streamlike feeling spread across the place. The creature shot forward towards Kailen.

Suddenly, Kailen’s eyes flickered with a cold light. "Sorry, but I’m not the one dying today."

An ethereal glint flashed through his eyes as he held onto the mountain peak. A void-like, majestic feeling spread across the area. The sea creature, shooting towards him, widened its eyes.

"This... Law of..."

That was the last thought it had. It literally disappeared, its atoms completely separated into fragments by Kailen’s Law of Space. It was dead.

At this moment, Kailen was still vigilant. He didn’t dare to move. He masked his awakener’s aura and his presence right after he used the Law of Space, still clinging to the crevice. There was a reason why he resorted to holding the rock instead of just floating; if he hovered above the mountain peak, he’d be discovered by the two creatures duking it out. He didn’t want to assume they’d ignore him and let him live. It would be too costly.

"What was that?"

"I sensed the use of a special law."

The two behemoths suddenly turned towards the direction of the mountain. However, they didn’t sense any further use of a law, or the presence of an awakener. To them, it was just a tiny creature struggling for its life. They decided to ignore it.

The two resumed their combat.

Kailen had felt his heart almost leap out of his chest when their gazes landed on him. "That was a close call. So they decided to ignore me because I’m not worth their attention. However, if I had not masked my aura and deactivated the Law of Space, I would have been dead meat. I don’t think I can use the Law of Space again if another sea creature appears. They won’t think it’s a coincidence next time. I just pray no sea creature lands here again," Kailen thought.

He continued using the dense universe energy of the seawater washing over him to cultivate. This period went on for a very long time. Kailen tried to estimate the number of years this had been happening.

20 years... 40 years... 60 years... 100 years... 150 years...

The battle between the two sea creatures was still happening. Boom. Boom. Boom.

Suddenly, a glint flashed through Kailen’s eyes. "Finally."

He had broken through to the rank 1 intermediate-stage universe level. With his Law of Space, he could fight opponents at the rank 4 intermediate-stage universe level.

"But not enough." Kailen kept on cultivating.

If he could leave this place, he’d have to duke it out with these two behemoths who had made his life hell for a very long time. He needed to be strong enough to handle them. Also, he wanted to turn them into shadow creatures in the near future after the simulation ended.

Kailen kept cultivating with the dense universe energy in the seawater. Another 70 years went by in a flash.

Rank 2 intermediate-stage universe level.

Breaking through from the rank 6 beginner-stage to the rank 2 intermediate-stage would have taken an extremely long time if not for the seawater.

"Time to deal with these bastards."

Kailen could now handle rank 5 intermediate-stage universe-level powerhouses. He let go of the crevice. He floated calmly above the mountain peak.

His perception had already spread across, further than when he was a rank 6 beginner-stage universe level lifeform. The sea creatures at the surface level in the region ranged from rank 1 to rank 5 intermediate-stage. However, there were even rank 6 and rank 7 creatures slumbering deep beneath the ocean. Kailen’s perception also caught wind of even rank 1 supreme-stage universe-level sea creatures.

"Those behemoths are slumbering beneath the ocean depths and cultivating. As long as no one manages to tick them off, they won’t pay attention to whatever is happening on the surface. I just need to make sure I don’t do anything to offend them. The safest option is to travel above the sea. I can handle those at the surface levels, after all, and can escape from them with the Law of Space if they prove too difficult to deal with," Kailen thought.

Suddenly, he floated towards the two sea creatures. He didn’t hide his aura anymore; Kailen released it.

The two creatures saw him. They stopped fighting and looked at him. Was this fellow not the tiny creature they had ignored previously? Was he not supposed to be a non-awakener? Wait... why was he here?

Suddenly, they sensed a majestic, ethereal, void-like feeling spread out from him towards the whole place.

"The Law of Space?" the shark in its tornado state said in shock.

"Indeed. Let’s get rid of this piece of shit. A third person contending with us for this territory won’t be a good thing," the eel in its lightning form replied.

Kailen didn’t say anything even after their conversation. The water tornado and the wave of lightning intertwined. They shot towards him with swift speed. He simply melded with the void and reappeared at a different spot above the ocean.

Then, he simply waved his hand.

The void around the tornado flickering with lightning seemed to meld and twist.

"What’s happening? Why can’t we move?" The voice of the eel rang with fear.

"He’s compressing space around us. This is why space law awakeners are dangerous. Of all the three special laws, those who possess the Law of Space are the most troublesome. Even though he’s fighting two of us, three ranks above him, he’s still managed to overpower us!" The shark bellowed in regret.

They should have paid more attention to this bastard and killed him some centuries ago. To think a single carelessness on their side would lead to this.

Kailen was calm. The space kept compressing and melding. The tornado flickering with lightning seemed to grow smaller because space was folding around it. Very soon, cracking sounds and screams were heard. The tornado and the lightning disappeared. Two figures—a shark and an eel—appeared.

The two were not in good shape. Their colossal forms had shrunk significantly. They could not move or do anything; they were completely powerless. If one were to describe how they felt, it would be like they were pieces of paper being compressed by a hand. But in this case, the paper was them. They felt space enclose around them, pressing hard on their bodies. It was so excruciating.

The two had never felt this powerless ever since they started cultivating. Very soon, their internal organs could not contain the force of the compression. Their internal organs burst apart and failed to hold. Each coughed a mouthful of blood.

However, they could only watch as the dark-eyed creature tormented them without batting an eye. Very soon, their forms folded into their bodies. They were like two giant meatballs floating on the surface of the sea. They were dead.

"I went too far. Should have at least kept their bodies in a bit of good shape. But technically, their bodies are still intact, right? I can turn them into shadow creatures when the simulation ends and all my abilities return."

After that, Kailen bolted forward. He needed to leave this damned region blanketed by seas.
