Heir of Mana:Beast made king-Chapter 63: Under Attack
The road was bumpy and long, but that wasn’t a problem for the draft horses pulling the carriage along, as they seemed completely unaffected, comfortable even.
But inside the carriage was a completely different story, as every bump they went over threw them into the air only for gravity to bring them right back down again
They had been traveling for what felt like five hours now, which they knew only by the fact that the sun was slowly setting, bringing forth the beautiful stars illuminated by the night.
The seven moons framing the night sky.
And funny enough, it was only when night fully took the sky that the woman in Skylar’s lap awoke, not through the shaking of the carriage or the sound of two extra people joining them, but when the moons fully touched the sky.
"Oooh, good morning, honey, have we arrived yet?" As the woman rose, her long, dark brown hair fell, covering her face in the tangled-up braids that were somehow natural.
Her skin was a beautiful brown that was almost glowing in the light of the candle that was in the background.
"No, Eva, we are still on the road, although we are expected to arrive in five more hours, and it is not morning, hun; as usual, you slept out the morning again.
"Oh, sorry, I wasn’t able to give you company; hopefully Nova was enough for you," she replied her voice sounding hoarse and faint as she turned her head to take a look at Nova,
who, if she remembered correctly, was supposed to be sitting in the corner opposite them with her sister
But instead of her sister sitting beside her, she saw two strangers in her place
Her sharp yellow eyes were quick to analyze them
The woman had long, creamy white platinum hair that fell over her shoulders gracefully
only serving to frame her beautiful face even more, her skin was a deeper shade of brown than even her own
No it puts hers to shame.
Her eyes were a mystifyingly unique rose quartz pink color that was busy analyzing her just as much as she was analyzing them.
Looking down upon her body she was utterly put to shame, if before she was comparing herself with this woman now she had to completely stop or else she might just develop an inferiority complex
If she didn’t already have one
Needless to say, the woman’s body was amazing, no she would even go on to say perfect.
She had carves so perfect that even the baggy clothes she wore couldn’t hide as every movement served to reveal them.
Her breasts put every woman in that carriage except Nova to shame and that wasn’t even mentioning her thighs.
Speaking of thighs, the woman was seated on top of what she first assumed to be a giant shadow but upon closer inspection she found it to be a man.
A big muscular man
Don’t get her wrong her husband and his brother were muscular and strong but this man was in a completely different League in itself.
He already appeared to be able to dwarf them simply by standing up and his muscular hands that were currently wrapped around the woman’s waist looked to be able to pick up her husband’s cousin with one hand.
And that was no small thing as that man was almost as heavy as a full-grown fire boar.
And his clothes only served to make this more apparent as the small shirt was straining against his body, looking as if it was about to rip with even the slightest provocation
It really made her wonder why not the two of them swap clothing but that wasn’t her place to speak upon
Having had not nearly enough of looking at his body she decided to move her gaze up toward his face lest she start to have improper thoughts about this stranger. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
And in the presence of her husband no less
But when her eyes landed upon his face she came to instantly regret her decision
His face, his face was the most handsome thing she had ever seen but that isn’t what made her regret her actions no it was his gaze
He was looking at her with a gaze that told no stories, he wasn’t curious, bored, lustful, or even interested in the slightest
To be honest, it was almost as if he wasn’t even looking at her but through her like she was nothing but the passing wind
And while weird, that still would have been ok if not for his eyes, those amber eyes with crystalline circles of deep crimson for some reason made her truly feel.... uncomfortable
Scared
But she hadn’t nearly enough time to focus on this feeling before the man and woman turned their heads to the front of the carriage
And began smiling, the same type of smile given by truly crazy people
The moment those smiles made their way onto their faces was the same moment when the carriage came to a sudden stop
And that is when her attention was finally stolen back from those two back to the person she was looking for in the first place Nova
"We’re under attack, there are twenty of them at the front, ten at the back and what seems to be seventeen more in the forest on all fronts, let’s go" she said her voice as sweet as honey but filled with no emotion
As if she hadn’t just given away the enemy’s entire location without even leaving the carriage.
Getting up she began walking towards the carriage’s back door before suddenly coming to a stop just before she reached the door
Only to then turn towards Azreal and Olivia with the same uninterested expression she had been wearing all this time and ask
"Will you two be joining the fight as well"
And she was met not with a verbal answer but by them standing at the door with her and seeing this she had no more questions as she pulled the door fully
Letting them come face-to-face with the enemies.
