Hellbound With The Vampire King-Chapter 108: Who Wore The Gown
Chapter 108: Who Wore The Gown?
"Did you plan for this to happen?" The way Ava said it was subtle but Serena could hear the accusations in her tone. Her intentions was loud and clear.
She heard the gasp from the people in the room and the whispers became even louder.
Serena felt an unpleasant feeling rise up to her neck, she had already gone through a lot today and was not ready to face more from Eiravyn’s past girlfriend, but she still couldn’t take the accusation.
Serena gave her a light smile, "How can I possibly do that when it only my second time here in this kingdom. If anything it should be you who would copy me, giving how well you have so many people protecting you." Serena said with a feigned smile, and tried her best to keep her voice as neutral as possible.
She was not about to make the vampires think she couldn’t even handle something like this.
Ava had a puzzled expression on her face, and it looked like she was finding it hard to comprehend everything happening.
Serena almost rolled her eyes at but poor acting.
This time it wasn’t Ava who spoke but one of the ladies beside her, who burst out in anger, "That’s very rude," the way she said it was like Serena had said something else that the guest did not hear and it made them think that she had insulted Lady Ava.
In the next minutes, the whole room echoed in a louder noise as people pointed at Serena, voicing out their grievances.
"The person who came in last should be the one who copied right?" 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"Do you mean the one with the red hair?"
"That has to be true, this is my first time seeing her here and she’s already planning a disputed. I wonder what the king was thinking bringing a human in the first place."
"Really? Was it His Majesty who brought her here." The first person who spoke asked with surprise written all over his face, it seemed like he was just hearing this for the first time.
"I heard that they had a little confrontation in the royal house today. Maybe the human did this to spite His Majesty and Lady Ava. One can never tell with this humans, they look and act innocent when meanwhile their heart is as hard as stone."
"She looks beautiful in the dress though."
She exhaled when she heard some of the murmurings, and tried to maintain a cool and relaxed composure. It seemed as if most of the high-ranking ministers supported Ava while those from the middle class supported her. Right now Serena could care less, she really did not like when people judge someone without hearing the other party side of the story.
Most of them did not know who she was so it was easy to point at her since she was the weakest link. The anger she felt was mainly because she had no one to defend her. Serena his her trembling hands by pretending to drink from the cup on the table. Even as most of the people in the ballroom sided with Ava, her facial expression still looked the same, like she was being wrong.
Serena took her attention off Ava as it seemed like the girl wanted to stand there while looking like she had been wronged by her so she decided to leave her be and instead she thought about something else. For instance, who gave out the details of the clothes she wanted to wear?
"Why would anyone try to sabotage her when she barely knew anything about them. Who would do such a thing?"
Serena wondered in her head, it was difficult to pick a particular person since she was not familiar with anyone of the maids in the royal house. As the thoughts about maids came to her mind she paused.
From what she could gather today, the twins were very much docile when it came to Ava. Could it be one of them? Maybe Astrid? Since the girl barely says anything making it difficult to know her thought.
As Serena thought about this, she could not help but wonder if it were Aurora, as she thought, Aurora could still be responsible for this, it was hard to know. Serena groaned in frustration.
She heard one of the ladies whisper something into Ava ears and saw how the girl tensed at her word. Serena turned her head and found Caspian, the king’s right hand making his way into the room.
He had a wide, mocking smile on his face as he approached.
At first Serene wondered where he was heading to, only to see him take a turn to the left in her direction, from the corner or her eyes, she saw one of the ladies say something else to Ava to which the girl stiffened.
"Woah, woah, woah. You girls didn’t tell me that we were suppose to wear matching outfits." Serena heard the man say with a wide grin when he got to her prepared chair that Serena almost laughed at the way he said the word.
When she raised her head she saw him looking at her and when they meet eyes, he smiled at her and she smiled back.
"What the hell is going on here? Or did I get the invite wrong?" He continued to say,
Ava groaned and shift her red eyes to glare at Caspian, "Nobody called you into this conversation, Caspian, you might as well run along now." She said with an eye roll.
Caspian still had a smirk on his face when he said, "I thought to make the number a little even, wouldn’t you agree to this? You currently have four ladies standing behind you while this fine lady here his alone," he said and his eyes shifted to look at Serena when he said. "It must have been awe fully lonely." Serena heard the man say, and almost burst out in laughter.
