Chapter 26: It Wasn’t A Dream

Zorat could barely recall the last time he felt the warmth of an actual human woman this way. It was probably millions of years ago when he was climbing up hell’s hierarchy.

Demons are fundamentally larger in size than humans. And even if really powerful demons gained the ability to change shape at will at some point. Being with a female demon pretending to be human and being with an actual human woman were two different things.

Feeling he’s ’consoled’ the damsel in distress enough; Zorat pried her gently off his chest, with both his arms on her shoulders he asked in a calming voice."You feeling better now ?"

Florielle nodded repeatedly before throwing a dashing smile at Zorat. Seeing as Zorat was already walking ahead, she joined and fell into step.

As they moved through the usual pathways, Zorat was quite curious about two things concerning Florielle. One was, since she used to be from a noble house, how would her constitution look.

Does a denizen’s constitution in this world depend on their birth status, or is it only random. Zorat believes it’s the former. Considering Kaelara seems to possess an affinity for Earth just like her father; while she also has a special skill, which is also very high level according to this world’s standard.

However, there is a slight contradiction to this assertion. Take for instance, the Shoemakker brothers who were now entities in Zorat’s book.

While the older brother had no affinity and no special skill, the younger one had a special skill, even if it’s dormant and hidden. This also confirms to Zorat that not all denizens of this world are born with affinities.

Casting a side glance at the smiling Florielle who was practically bouncing as she followed in step with Zorat; he grinned as a ray of crimson flashed through his eyes.

Let’s see if you have anything special...

Authority Of Mischief....Abyssal gaze.

Quite a variety of skills in her collection...

However...they are all of no use to me.

Still...that special skill...

Zorat was quite surprised she possessed a special skill at such a high grade. According to the information he’s heard so far...

The grades of skills from lowest grade to highest grade are as follows. , F, E, D, C, B, A, S, SS, SSS, EX. It is said that those with anything above S-grade are a rare find.

Zorat has now come across two different people who possess such high grades of skills. And coincidentally or not, both skills seem to be dormant and hidden, possibly with some trigger condition that Zorat and Both young ladies are unaware of. These ladies are not even aware they possess a special skill in the first place.

Special skills are rare and barely talked about. Most people who awaken a special skill, keep it to themselves and hidden, so that they can use it for their own purposes or as a final trump card.

Since these special skills, as their names imply, have special conditions to trigger their awakening, it might even go unnoticed for the person’s entire life, only giving hints with some peculiar side effects that would be happening to the person in question.

Zorat was only able to extrapolate what the knight commander’s special skill was because he had seen it in action as she’s currently disguising herself and the name is literally ’morph’. The same can be said about the grand vizier’s daughter’s own skill.

He couldn’t get full details on such matters yet, only relate their functions to how they appear and what he’s experienced from them. That is one of the drawbacks of his ability; there had to be some balance, as seeing as he is capable of prying into the dormant special skills which the owners aren’t even aware of, that’s already a recipe for disaster in the wrong hands.

And Zorat is the perfect definition of the wrong hands. He would use such information to his benefit when needed to manipulate and control his victims, or he would use it to destroy them if he considers their existence not worth the effort.

It helps that the name of Florielle’s special skill is very on the nose. Which gives him some clue as to what it might be capable of. And it would for sure be quite powerful, considering Azaria’s special skill was only SS-grade.

Above the SSS-grade, is the EX grade. These existences they say are closest in strength to heroes summoned by the goddess. Though, ’closeness’ is just that. They still will be easily one shotted if pitted with a hero of the same level, or even lower levels for heroes with monstrous awakening gifts.

Divine-grade skills can only be acquired by Heroes. That’s the highest grade of skill according to this world. At that point it becomes harder to quantify the potency of skills, because even at the divine grade, there are those more powerful than the other, with varying boosts.

Anything above divine grade is the realm of goddess Arleria herself... at least it was.

Zorat and Florielle continued walking until they arrived at the hut and entered together.

Zorat watched as Florielle started putting things in place, turning on the mana lantern, setting the bed and picking up Zorat’s garments one after the other as he took them off.

He could see her literally swallow hard as she saw Zorat bare chested; the runic patterns he had carved earlier now completely healed and looked like a badass tattoo. When a rune is inscribed on a body, it burns into place. So assides from the initial trickle of blood, it almost immediately look like some ancient body art.

Zorat could feel Florielle’s brain going rapid fire as she tried to link this image with what she had seen in a dream when she fainted a few hours prior.

With only his pants on, Zorat walked slowly to Florielle, placing both his hands on her shoulders he said gently. "There will be quite a lot of strange things you will see ... if you want to continue being my maidservant."

"Are you okay with that ?" For the first time, Zorat spoke to her in a slightly serious tone. He had chosen to not bother hiding some certain things from this young lady for two reasons.

One. He needed a tool he could use freely. And two, she had a weird loyalty trait that’s strangely at the S-grade.

She’s the perfect labor slave....

And if she becomes useless... I can always dispose of her.

Even if she were to tell others what she’s seen here... who would believe her ? Hehehe

Florielle could feel the change in Zorat’s tone from the usual playfulness to something serious. It’s become clear to her that she wasn’t dreaming what she had seen.

’it wasn’t a dream’

But strangely, she didn’t feel fear or discomfort now knowing this. She was just so bothered and concerned why the hero would be doing that to himself. But she said nothing. With a resolved expression she responded, green eyes glinting...

"I...I am. I am okay with that."

Hehehe. a brave one i see.
