Her Dark Desires-Chapter 27: He will Ask For A Divorce
Eliana woke up and immediately sat upright when she remembered all that happened before losing consciousness.
"Zach!" She called out but there was no response. Did he leave already? Eliana thought to herself and slowly got up from the bed, she was about to leave the room when the door opened, and Zachary came in.
"I...I thought you left." Eliana said softly.
Zachary sighed and asked, "Do you want me to leave?"
Eliana shook her head and whispered "No." She looked at him and asked, "You said the Moore family was going to be ruined tonight, what do you mean by that? What exactly did my dad do to yours?"
"The doctor said you shouldn’t be stressed out, we can talk about it some other time."
"I want to talk about it now, Zach," Eliana said.
Zachary looked at Eliana calmly and remained quiet. There was no longer anger or hatred in his gaze, but instead, he looked lost and tired.
It was the first time Eliana had seen him like this; in all her years of knowing Zachary, he had never seen so lost. She badly wanted to hug him, and even though he might push her away, she still walked to him and hugged him.
Zachary was stunned when she suddenly hugged him. He placed his hand on her shoulder to push her away but decided not to, but he still didn’t hug her back.
"I don’t care what you do to the Moore family, if they are responsible for your dad’s death, then they should pay. You and our baby are the only family I need, so stop worrying about me and do whatever puts you at peace." Eliana said softly and was surprised when she felt his hands around her.
Zach finally hugged her back and whispered "Thank you."
....
Sanders Mansion.
Ryan woke up in the middle of the night to get a drink only to see his mother at the dining table with a glass of wine.
Ryan chuckled and asked, "Can I bring my glass?"
Charlotte looked at her son and asked "Aren’t you supposed to be sleeping?"
Ryan smiled and pulled out a chair for him to sit "Are you worried about Zach?"
"Not really," Charlotte replied.
"You are. Do you think he will get a divorce?" Ryan asked.
Charlotte gulped down his wine and said, "I don’t know. He loves her, that I can tell."
"Is that so? Do you know why Zach has always postponed the Moore family downfall?"
Charlotte shrugged and said, "He has always told me he wanted the Moore family empire to grow before he destroys them. He believed the higher you climb the harder you fall, which is indeed true."
Ryan chuckled and said, "What if I tell you he did it for her? When I was thirteen, I became curious about Zach’s letters, so I decided to read one. I thought I was going to read a love letter, but instead, the letter started with, ’I was almost burnt with an iron today. Don’t worry, I don’t have any scars; Nanny Susan saved me before I got burnt. She said I have no right to complain and should just be grateful that I am living well. According to her, many children would do anything to be in my place. I have given it some thought, and she is right, I eat good food and sleep on a soft bed; I shouldn’t complain, but why am I crying? My parents came back, and Amber reported I tried burning her with an iron. Nanny Susan, who knew the truth, was silent and watched as my mom flogged me and then punished me to kneel on the cold floor. My knees still hurt, but I’m sure a good sleep will make it better. You haven’t been replying to my letters lately, so this might end up being my last one, not because I no longer wish to write to you, but because I will be going to a boarding school very soon. Mom and Dad can no longer tolerate me. However, I will do what you said. I will use their wealth and status to make a name for myself, but before I end this letter, I would like to ask a question: Am I that difficult to love? Why doesn’t anyone love me?’"
"You remember the letter word for word?" Charlotte asked in surprise.
Ryan smiled and said "Yes. Probably because I have read it more than once. There were tear stains on the letter and I just couldn’t forget about it. Zach never got it because, at that time, he had already gone to Australia for further studies."
"And you never gave it to him?"
"Nope. I never did."
Charlotte stared at her son for a moment before pouring herself another glass. "So the reason Zach left the Moore family for so long was because he wanted Eliana to make a name for herself using the Moore family wealth?"
"I believe so, but now that Zach has found out that Eliana is the Moore family’s biological daughter, he will feel lied to, he will be angry, and end up saying hurtful things."
"He will even ask for a divorce." Charlotte completed.
Ryan laughed and said, "Yes, he will ask for a divorce, but that will be just his anger talking. Zach loves Eliana and he will never divorce her."
"Do you think he will let the Moore family go for her?" Charlotte asked.
"He wouldn’t. Zachary made a promise to Dad, and he will fulfill it. The Moore family will fall and that is final. Now, woman, stop drinking and go to bed." Ryan said.
He stood up and helped his mother to stand up, he then led her to her room and wished her a good night before going back to the room.
Ryan walked to his bed and brought out a key under his pillow, he opened his little safe and collected an envelope. Inside the envelope was a letter, Ryan sighed and kept the letter back in his safe before going back to bed.
