"My mom will soon be here and I don’t want you hovering around," Amber said to the house help.

"Yes, ma." The middle age woman replied and got ready to leave the house. Whenever Amber’s mother was coming, she was always asked to leave the house as if they were going to hold a secret agent meeting.

Twenty minutes later, the doorbell rang, and Amber rushed to open the door, immediately, she saw her mother, and she hugged her tightly. "I missed you, Mom."

Sloane chuckled as she replied "But we saw each other a week ago."

"Come sit, I will go make you your favorite tea," Amber said as she led Sloane to the living room.

Sloane held her hand and said "Sit with me. I am not in the mood for tea. Where is the maid?"

"I sent her out. Ever since that incident with the last house help, I no longer trust any of them."

Sloane frowned as she remembered what transpired with the last help. "Who could have thought that she would have the guts to change your pills and even feel no remorse after being caught."

"She even dared to blackmail me by telling me that she would report to Nolan that I was taking birth control pills. Because of that wench, a baby that belonged to that bastard was growing in me. I felt so disgusted when the doctor told me that I was pregnant."

"Well, let’s not discuss old things. Both the baby and that evil woman are gone; we must focus on the light before us, and that is your father’s company, Solar Technologies." Sloane said and was expecting to see a smile on Amber’s face, but to her disappointment, there was none.

"What’s wrong? I thought you would be happy."

"I met Dad during the party, and he barely said a word to me, in fact, I saw him speaking to Eliana. I have a feeling that he might make Eliana his successor. After all, she is the one who shares his blood."

"He will do no such thing. Eliana and him don’t see eye to eye and it is only because of your sacrifice that he was able to build Solar technologies. I have talked to your dad to make you the COO of the company and I am sure that you will soon receive good news from him." Sloane said, patting her daughter’s hand in comfort.

"Tried? Isn’t he dead?"

Sloane sighed and replied "He isn’t dead. I heard from your father that Jason is currently in a coma, and even the doctors don’t know when he might wake up."
