Chapter 532: Chapter 532 Boring

When they reached the practice room, he opened the door properly and stepped aside first, gesturing politely with one small hand.

"Please sit down at a proper distance," he instructed gently, imitating Alina’s tone without even realizing it. "Leave space between each other. No crowding."

Boo floated inside dramatically, spinning twice for effect, but still chose a spot correctly near the window where the light was soft.

Kelpie settled near the center, his small pool of water spreading beneath him as always.

Rocky sat quietly with his small pouch of pebbles beside him, already reaching in to touch his favorites for comfort.

Felix leaned against the wall first, arms crossed, then slowly slid down into a seated position with practiced indifference.

Lucien and Sable sat next to each other, as always, their shadows mingling on the floor behind them.

Drake lowered himself carefully, stretching his legs out slightly before crossing them. His wings drooped behind him, and his tail gave only a single weak thump against the floor.

For the past week, Vlad Jr. had been taking his role very seriously. He made sure everyone handed in homework. He reminded them when activities were scheduled. He even reported small incidents to the teacher in a neat, structured way that made Alina smile every time.

And he liked it.

He liked having responsibility. He liked when things were organized. He liked knowing he could help keep order without shouting or threatening. It felt right, like his skills were finally being used properly.

Today was no different.

He scanned the room once more to ensure everyone was settled and no one was about to start chaos. Luna was sitting but looking restless. Boo was floating but not zooming. Felix was leaning but not sighing dramatically. Drake was...

Drake was sitting.

Just sitting.

Vlad Jr. filed that information away for later.

Satisfied that the room was calm, he adjusted his posture and folded his hands neatly in his lap, ready to wait as long as needed.

"Oh..." Boo suddenly said, dragging the sound out dramatically as he floated sideways near Rocky. "Why is the teacher taking so long? I am bored. Bored, bored, bored. Boredom is killing me slowly."

Rocky was quietly lining up three small pebbles by size, his stone fingers moving with careful precision. "She had a meeting with Professor Hobb," Lucien reminded calmly from his spot. "Meetings take time. Grown-up meetings are long."

"That meeting is too long," Boo muttered, spinning lazily in the air like a slow ceiling fan. "I am so bored I might start counting ceiling tiles. That is how bored I am."

"You are always bored when no one is on fire," Felix said flatly, not looking up. "Your boredom threshold is very low."

"No one is on fire," Luna added, glancing briefly at Drake with meaning.

Drake rolled his shoulders slowly, the movement stiff. "I am not on fire today."

"That is concerning," Felix replied, his golden eyes sharp. "You are usually at least a little on fire. Emotionally, if not literally."

Kelpie leaned slightly toward him, water droplets pattering gently. "You still feel slow? The same slow as outside?"

Drake shrugged, a half-hearted movement. "A little bit. Same slow. Consistent slow."

Luna frowned faintly but did not say anything. Her tail gave a single worried twitch.

Boo floated lower and squinted at Rocky’s pebbles, momentarily distracted. "Why do you always carry rocks everywhere? Rocks are not interesting."

Rocky looked up shyly, holding up one pebble. "They are different shapes."

"They are the same color," Boo argued, poking one with a translucent finger.

"They are not," Rocky replied seriously, his voice earnest. "This one is smooth. Feel how smooth it is? This one is strong. This one has a tiny sparkle inside if you look closely."

Boo leaned closer, fascinated despite himself, his nose almost touching the pebble. "Oh. Oh, there is sparkle. Tiny, tiny sparkle. Like a baby star."

Meanwhile, Vlad Jr. remained seated upright, watching the room carefully with quiet authority. Every now and then his eyes flicked toward Drake. He did not comment, he did not approach, but he noticed. He noticed the way Drake’s wings stayed flat instead of twitching. He noticed the way Drake’s tail lay still instead of swishing. He noticed the way Drake’s usual spark was just... missing.

The practice room felt unusually calm without the usual loud dragon energy bouncing off the walls and echoing through the space.

Even Luna seemed less restless than normal. She leaned back against the wall, her legs stretched out, her golden-brown eyes glancing sideways at Drake before quickly looking away when he noticed her looking. She did this three times in a row.

"We can start stretching before the teacher comes," Vlad Jr. suggested politely, his voice carrying through the quiet room. "That would be an efficient use of time. We can practice the warm-up positions."

Boo groaned dramatically, flopping in the air. "Efficient is boring. Stretching is boring. Everything is boring when waiting."

"Efficient is productive," Vlad Jr. corrected gently, no heat in his voice. "Productive use of time means less to do later."

Felix sighed deeply, already shifting position. "Just stretch. It is not complicated. Move your body, count to ten, done."

And slowly, without much protest, they adjusted their positions.

Luna stretched her legs forward, reaching for her toes with focused determination.

Kelpie flowed through water positions, his body moving like liquid.

Rocky stretched his arms carefully.

Felix went through the motions with mechanical precision.

Lucien and Sable stretched together, their shadows moving in sync.

Boo attempted to stretch, but his body just wobbled.

And Drake...

Drake stretched too, but his movements were slower, more careful, like he was afraid something might snap.

Vlad Jr. watched from the corner of his eye while going through his own perfect stretches.

"Help me, I cannot do it," Boo complained, flopping dramatically in the air like a fish out of water. His body wobbled and rippled as he attempted to stretch his non-existent muscles. "I do not have a meaty, bony body! How can I stretch without a body? This is discrimination against ghosts!"

Felix glanced at him with flat eyes. "You do not need to stretch. You are a ghost."

"Everyone else is stretching!" Boo whined, pointing at the others. "Look at them! Stretching happily! Having a stretch party! I am excluded!"
