I Became the Villainess, But My Beast Husbands Can Hear My Mind?!-Chapter 196: My Husbands Are Too Lovely (3)
As if that wasn’t enough, Roxanna soon saw Zeir and Azul walking toward the hut. Their expressions didn’t look very good, probably because the other husbands had already given their gifts first.
Zeir looked slightly annoyed, perhaps because he had wanted his gift to be the first one Roxanna saw. Meanwhile, Azul looked nervous, as if he was worried that his gift would not be as impressive as the ones given by the others.
The truth was... Roxanna didn’t care who gave her the best gift. As long as they showed their love for her, that was already more than enough.
"What are you doing?" Zeir asked seriously the moment he saw Roxanna crouching down with red eyes. "Did you make her cry?"
Calen, who was standing right in front of him, jumped in surprise because the lizard beastman had approached so quietly that he hadn’t heard a single step.
"You—don’t scare me like that!" Calen shouted, but when he saw Zeir’s serious gaze, he quickly straightened his back. "No, we didn’t make her cry. You have to believe me."
"Zeir..." Roxanna gently reached out and grabbed Zeir’s hand, pulling him down so he crouched in front of her. "I’m not crying because they made me sad. It’s the opposite. I’m crying because they made me happy."
Zeir stared at her silently for a moment before asking, "Tears of joy?"
Roxanna nodded. "Yeah, tears of joy." She smiled softly. "They brought me gifts, and it was so sweet that I felt really touched."
The moment Roxanna mentioned the word "gift," Zeir’s body suddenly stiffened. A moment later, he said, "I’m sorry for being too late."
"Late?" Roxanna tilted her head. "There’s no competition here, so how could you be late?"
Zeir took a deep breath before speaking. "You’re right. But still... you might think my gift isn’t as appealing as the others."
Roxanna frowned immediately. "That’s nonsense. All of your gifts are precious to me. I would never think that."
Since Zeir stayed silent for a while, Roxanna asked again with curiosity, "So... what kind of gift did you bring?"
She held both of her hands out toward him. "Can I see it?"
Before Zeir could answer, Azul suddenly pushed past the other husbands and crouched down beside Zeir. "Roxanna... Roxanna... I also brought you a beautiful gift!"
But just as Azul was about to show it, Zeir quietly elbowed him. Seeing them quietly fighting like that made her laugh softly.
[I didn’t know Zeir could act like this too.] Roxanna thought with amusement.
[Azul often acts like he’s competing with Calen or Luan... but Zeir? He rarely joins their little fights.]
In fact, Zeir was usually the quiet one whenever her other husbands fought with each other to show who Roxanna loved the most.
"Why don’t you give me your gifts at the same time?" Roxanna suggested with a sweet smile. "Wouldn’t that be fair?"
Zeir and Azul looked at each other for a moment. Then they both shrugged, silently agreeing.
"Alright," they said at the same time.
The other husbands quickly moved closer, gathering around them. After all, they were also curious to see what kind of gifts Zeir and Azul had prepared for Roxanna.
Zeir was the first one to move. Without saying a word, he opened his palm and placed something small and shining into Roxanna’s hands.
It was a silver scale.
The scale was smooth and slightly curved, almost as large as the center of her palm. Its surface reflected the light softly, glowing with a faint silver shine.
Roxanna blinked in surprise. "Is this... your scale?"
However, she wasn’t sure if an albino lizard could have a scale this big. As far as she remembered, Zeir’s lizard form was not that large either.
Zeir nodded calmly. "Yes. It’s one of mine."
Calen and Luan both looked at the scale with clear interest, and even Cyrus leaned a little closer to take a better look. For beastmen, giving something that came directly from their own body was not a small matter.
But it seemed that Calen and Luan still didn’t know that Cyrus had also given a part of himself to Roxanna. Otherwise, they would probably go crazy for not doing the same.
After all... what could a dog and a cat even give? Their claws? Their own fangs?
No, thank you.
Roxanna definitely didn’t want them hurting themselves just to give her a gift. She didn’t want to see them pulling out their own teeth or claws for her sake.
But putting them aside for a moment, Zeir gently closed Roxanna’s hand so she could hold the silver scale in her palm.
The moment the cool, metal-like surface fully touched her skin, Roxanna felt a faint warmth spreading through her fingers.
"In my tribe," Zeir said calmly, "a scale like this means protection. If you ever lose your way in the darkness, this scale will guide you to the exit."
His golden eyes softened slightly. "And it will keep you warm, even on the coldest night."
Roxanna then opened her hand and looked down at the silver scale. Its smooth surface reflected a soft light, almost like moonlight.
"You gave me something this important..." she murmured.
Before Zeir could respond, Azul suddenly shouted impatiently, "Roxanna! Look at mine too!"
He proudly held out both hands.
Resting on his palms was a large blue pearl, about the size of a clenched fist. The surface of the pearl shimmered with deep ocean colors, glowing softly like water under the moonlight.
Roxanna’s eyes widened. "It’s... it’s so beautiful!"
Azul grinned widely, clearly pleased by her reaction. "This is an aqua pearl from the deep sea," he explained proudly. "It’s very rare."
"What’s the purpose of this pearl?" Calen asked casually. "Is it just for decoration?"
Luan added, "Yeah, and... didn’t you just take it from your hut? Why did it take you the whole night just to get this thing?"
Azul’s eyes twitched slightly because the two of them were really being too noisy.
"Who said this was in my house?" Azul asked with an annoyed tone. "The evil Roxanna took most of my precious belongings back then and hid them in one of the warehouses."
He crossed his arms and let out a small huff. "You have no idea how many times I had to run back and forth between different warehouses, digging through piles of stuff just to find it."
Calen narrowed his eyes. "Just for decoration? And besides, how could our wife carry such a big pearl everywhere?"
The moment he heard Calen’s words, Azul suddenly realized something. He quickly pulled the pearl back from Roxanna and said in a panic, "T-Then I can break it into several pieces!"
Before Azul could smash the pearl onto the ground, Roxanna quickly took it from his hands. "You said this is a rare item," she said gently. "So shouldn’t we treat it carefully?"
She held the pearl with both hands, protecting it. "If we want to turn it into smaller pieces, we can ask someone more experienced to do it."
[I might have to pay the system’s service fee to split this pearl.] Roxanna thought.
[But as long as it doesn’t get damaged, I think that’s fine.]
On the other hand, Azul felt guilty. Among all of her husbands, only the gift he gave needed special handling and seemed to trouble their wife.
His shoulders slowly drooped. "I’m sorry..." Azul muttered quietly. "I didn’t think it would make things difficult for you."
Roxanna blinked in surprise. "What are you talking about?" she asked softly.
Azul avoided her eyes, looking slightly embarrassed. "I just wanted to give you something beautiful," he admitted. "But now it looks like it only caused more trouble."
Roxanna quickly shook her head. "That’s not true."
She carefully held the pearl up again, the blue surface glowing softly in the light. "I love it," she said sincerely. "Besides, if this pearl can be broken into several pieces, I can make many things with it, like earrings, bracelets, or even a necklace!"
Calen immediately leaned closer, staring at the pearl with interest. "So that means you can wear it every day?" he asked.
Roxanna nodded with a smile. "Of course."
Azul slowly raised his head when he heard that. The guilty look on his face began to fade. "Then... you really like it?" he asked carefully.
Roxanna nodded again. "I do."
For a moment, Azul simply stared at her. Then a wide smile slowly spread across his face. "I knew it!" he said proudly, puffing out his chest again. "My gift is beautiful, after all!"
Luan snorted softly from the side. "You were just apologizing a moment ago."
"That was before!" Azul replied quickly.
Cyrus chuckled quietly while Zeir shook his head slightly. Watching them bicker like that made Roxanna laugh softly.
Her hands were now filled with gifts; the golden feather, the tiger fang necklace, the silver scale, the obsidian stone, and the glowing blue pearl.
With that many gifts, her heart became filled with warmth. [How did I become this lucky?] Roxanna wondered.
