I Have A Baby From My Ex-Husband's Enemy-Chapter 130: A Stifling Marriage?
Sean returned to work as usual after his business trip to Dormania. He went to the company to read the document that Ronald had made about the deal he had made with his new partnership.
They wanted a useful technology for the hotel where Sean and Odelia were staying. Like a robot butler or something else that could help with the work at the hotel. Or maybe a security system that I can create to make it easier to guard the place.
Sean himself did intend to try to make new innovations that would be useful in places like hotels and other service places. But he had to discuss this first with several teams that used to make ideas like this.
Moreover, he himself is also very adept at thinking about designing a technology, from his grandfather who used to be the CEO of Yozara Company, the largest technology company at that time.
In the end, the company fell into Sean’s hands after Vincent’s death. The only heir who was supposed to continue the company, but because he chose to end his life and had no more descendants, the Percy family ended up in his hands.
’As the other heir, even though I’m not part of the Percy family. I feel it’s my responsibility to hold on to my grandfather’s company after he entrusted me with so many things,’ Sean thought whenever he had to hold the responsibility of two companies that were now one.
He also saw the blueprint Vincent had in his company that he could have developed into something much better. He admitted that he was very smart to make things, but sometimes he forgot the details he had to include to make things even better.
Although it was unfortunate that Vincent eventually left the company for good without having any offspring because of his shortcomings.
Even though that man had hurt Odelia, I remembered that he was also still his cousin.
"Mr. Sean?" called Ronald when he saw Sean suddenly just silently staring out the window.
He then turned around and looked at his secretary who had been waiting for him since earlier with a pile of documents in her hands.
"You’re back. Just put it on my desk and please get me some ice water with ice cubes," Sean said while walking without using a cane this time.
He was learning to balance his body again, but still carried the cane just in case. The CEO then sat in his chair and examined the documents he had requested.
While he was busy looking at the documents, someone knocked on his office door and he let the person in.
"Come in!"
Sean’s eyes continued to focus on the documents on the table, thinking that the person was Ronald. Instead, he heard the footsteps of heels approaching him.
Curious, he lifted his head and saw who was currently coming towards her. And it was Sophie, the manager of his company and the woman who kept trying to make Sean her own.
’What is she doing here?’ Sean thought at the time but he tried to dismiss the bad thoughts and put the thought that Sophie had important company-related business with him first.
After all, she was the manager of his company, so he had high hopes for her if she had anything to say about work.
"So what did you come to my office for, Sophie? Is there a report you want to give me?" asked Sean as he placed his pen on the table. Waiting for her to speak.
But just as he had expected, Sophie invited Sean to have lunch with her later. She said that she was curious about the outcome of Sean’s vacation with Odelia, a few days ago. She wanted to hear about it and maybe they could talk about it over lunch.
But of course Sean didn’t think it was necessary. Given that it was his family vacation, and Sophie wasn’t part of his family why would he tell anyone about something like that? Especially since she was just one of his managers or subordinates.
"We could have lunch outside together while we talk about this. Are you interested?"
"I don’t think so, you’d better go back to your room and finish the report I asked for. I need some of that data," he replied.
"Would it be wrong if I invited you to have lunch together? I just want to know how your vacation was beforehand." She didn’t give in to his words.
Sean refused, because he didn’t want to have lunch with her. "If you have nothing else to talk about, please leave my office. I’m very busy so I don’t want you distracting me," Sean said, subtly shooing Sophie out of his office.
She was not happy about it, when he kicked her out of his office. She continued to stand there without saying anything, as did Sean who chose to remain silent and focus on what was on his desk again.
’Why doesn’t she leave? She’s really frustrating me. What else does she really want?’ Sean thought as he went back to work.
It wasn’t long before Ronald returned with the order of ice water that Sean had requested. The man was confused as to why Sophie was there while standing staring at their boss.
"Miss Sophie, what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you get back to work?" Ronald asked to which she returned his stare and she simply left the room.
Of course Ronald was confused by what was happening in front of him. He then placed the ice water on Sean’s desk as he wanted.
"What is Miss Sophie doing in your office Mr. Sean? Why has she been silent all this time?" he asked curiously.
"I don’t know either, just forget about it and get back to focusing on your part."
He drank the cold water as his eyes continued to focus on the paperwork.
At lunchtime, Sean still had to sign a few things so he couldn’t go home early. He asked Ronald to buy him a sandwich at the company cafeteria.
As he waited in his room, there was another knock on the door which made Sean wonder why Ronald had returned so quickly.
But before he could answer, he saw Sophie re-enter his room but now she was much different than before.
"What is it again this time? Why are you coming to my room again now?"
"I just want to know something from you. I want to talk about something and I want you to answer me honestly," Sophie said which made Sean feel curious about what she was going to ask him.
She walked closer to him, then stood right in front of his desk while leaning over him and holding her with both hands right on the desk.
"I want to know why you keep ignoring me! You’ve never been this cold to me before, even before meeting Odelia. Is it because of her that you’re like this now?"
"I’ve never been cold to you, I’m just being normal as usual," Sean replied.
"Lies! You’re not like this, you even refused my invitation to have lunch together! Before you were with Odelia you always accepted my invitation and never sent me away!" Sophie retorted, not accepting Sean’s unsatisfactory answer.
He shook his head as he sighed softly, saying that it was something he would have done since he was married. Plus the refusal could have been because he didn’t want to have lunch with Sophie.
"And I’m acting like this because I’m your boss, I’m your boss and not your normal coworker. We are on different levels, so please respect me," the CEO explained to his manager.
"Well, I understand that you are my boss. But just because you’re married, doesn’t mean you can’t go out with me! What is marriage to you? Doesn’t that mean your marriage isn’t healthy!" Sophie continued to try and convince Sean that his relationship with Odelia was holding him back.
In fact, it made Sean feel confused, because Sophie’s words didn’t make sense. Marriage meant binding two people, and he refused Sophie’s invitation because he didn’t want to make Odelia sad or jealous because of it.
He didn’t feel that it was a restraint, but a commitment and responsibility for his decision to marry Odelia. After all, Sean would still choose Odelia over having to go to lunch together with another woman.
"What did you see in her? I heard that you just accidentally got her pregnant! I’m sure she must have tricked you into sleeping with her!"
"And that way she could conceive your child and use you!"
Sean frowned when he heard Sophie’s words about how he first met Odelia. Even when Sophie found out that Odelia had walked him to the hotel room, she had never told anyone about it.
Only his family and Percy’s family knew this. How could an outsider like Sophie know this? And it couldn’t have been Percy’s family who told her because they didn’t know Sophie at all.
"How did you know that when I never told anyone?"
