I Have A Baby From My Ex-Husband's Enemy-Chapter 135: What Are You Trying To Do?
Later that night at the hospital, Odelia was sleeping on the hospital couch while Sean went out to buy food as he felt hungry that night.
He wrapped the blanket around Odelia and then intended to leave the room where his daughter was being treated. It was their last night and tomorrow Carmelia would be allowed to go home. That’s why he had no problem staying there one more night.
"Sean?" asked Odelia, who realized that her husband was awake.
"Yeah, I’m just going to the cafeteria for a minute. Would you like me to buy you something?" asked Sean as he rubbed her head.
"Maybe some hot tea, I’d like something warming. Lemon tea?"
Sean smiled and nodded his head, "I’ll buy it for you. Go back to sleep until I get back."
He then left Carmelia’s room for the cafeteria. The hospital hallway was very quiet that night, plus the night was so cold because it was approaching winter.
"My stomach is very hungry, I hope there’s food other than donuts that I can eat there."
After Sean had left Carmelia’s room, a nurse came out of one of the rooms that Sean had passed through and walked towards his daughter’s room. She was wearing a mask as she walked quickly there.
She looked back and around, hoping that no one would see her. She finally arrived at Carmelia’s room and entered slowly.
As she looked inside, she turned her head towards Odelia who was fast asleep.
’She’s sleeping, this is a good opportunity for me to do it,’ she thought as she sneaked in and took a syringe from her pocket.
She intended to inject a dangerous fluid into Carmelia’s IV bag.
At the same time, Odelia woke up and saw the nurse holding the injection in her hand.
"Nurse?" she called out while rubbing her eyes.
The nurse was surprised that it was Odelia who woke up from her sleep. She tried to act normal like any other nurse who would give medicine to the little girl. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"Y-yes? I’m here to give Miss Carmelia some medicine as usual," she replied.
"Give her medicine?" Odelia got up from the sofa while putting down her blanket. "What kind of medicine? Why didn’t you wake me up first?"
Odelia knew that if there was an injection of medicine coming at night, the nurse would wake her up first and tell her what medicine she was going to give Carmelia. But this time the nurse didn’t.
"You looked so tired, I just didn’t have the heart to wake you up. So I thought of doing it myself."
"But it can’t be done without the family’s knowledge. Especially since you’re going to inject medicine to a child. What kind of medicine are you going to give?" asked Odelia again, who was starting to feel suspicious.
"It’s the usual medicine the doctor asked me to give you," replied the nurse.
"Tell me the name of the medicine, why didn’t you bring the medicine trolley as usual?" the ginger-haired woman asked again and again in a much more serious tone.
The nurse was looking more and more suspicious, because of which Odelia did not let her get close to her daughter and asked the doctor to come to confirm about the medicine that was not usually given at midnight.
Feeling cornered, she tried to attack Odelia to get the woman to move away from her.
However, Odelia reflexively dodged and realized that the nurse in front of her must be up to something and she couldn’t stay silent.
"Who are you?! What are you going to do to my daughter!" She snapped at the nurse but the nurse repeatedly tried to strike back.
Quickly, Odelia dodged the attacks while trying to push the nurse away from her daughter.
Even because of this, the nurse intended to inject Odelia with the injection she had prepared. But as a mother, she tried to stay on the defensive to protect her daughter.
"You’re such a troublemaker! You’re messing up my plan!" she said.
"Your plan? What are you planning?! Why are you targeting my daughter!"
"Heh, it’s because someone paid me to do it. She wants the child’s condition to worsen," replied the nurse pointing at Carmelia who had started to wake up to the noise in her room.
She looked scared and didn’t understand what had happened. However, Odelia tried to calm her down.
"Her? So someone sent you to hurt my daughter?" asked Odelia with a sense of exasperation.
She grinned slyly from behind her mask. "Right and she sent me here. Therefore I will not fail this mission!"
The nurse returned to attack Odelia more intensely, overwhelming her let alone Carmelia who had woken up and was crying in fear at the sight.
"Mommy!" she cried.
"Get away from my daughter!" Odelia held both of the nurse’s wrists, trying to push her away.
She hoped Sean would come back soon and save her.
"No way!" She pushed Odelia until the woman tumbled backwards and hit the bed.
Her body ached, but Odelia couldn’t give up now. She grabbed something nearby to keep the fake nurse away. She reached for the water pitcher and smashed it into her opponent’s face.
THUD!
"Akkhh damn it!" she whimpered in pain while holding her face. She growled as if she was ready to beat Odelia up even worse.
The sound of their commotion could be heard outside the room, causing several patients in other rooms to call for nurses from their stations. Odelia also had time to press the help button, but found that it was no longer working whereas before she could still use it.
"I’ve cut the cable! No one will come to help you!" she said, raising the injection in her hand and intending to stab Odelia with it.
However, the door opened immediately and a man kicked the fake nurse to the floor.
"Akkhh! Damn it!"
With a terrified face, Odelia saw that the man was hospital security who had heard the commotion as he patrolled the hallway. He heard how the woman was screaming and at that instant he immobilized her.
"Reginald here, room Tulip 206. There is an intruder disguised as a nurse," Reginald said as he gave the report.
"Are you all right, ma’am?" he asked while holding the nurse’s arms.
"Y-yes, thank you very much..."
Not long after, Sean returned and was surprised to see security in his daughter’s room. Inside Carmelia was crying while hugging Odelia because she felt very scared.
"Sshh... It’s okay. It’s all over," she said.
"Odelia! What happened?" Sean approached his wife and child with a worried face.
He immediately hugged his family, trying to calm them down. Odelia breathed a sigh of relief feeling glad that the nurse hadn’t had time to touch their daughter.
"I’ll take her for interogation. Please be present to give a statement later, thank you." Reginald took the evil woman away from there and Odelia could truly breathe a sigh of relief.
Sean helped her to sit down and Odelia began to tell him about what had happened earlier. Of course it shocked and angered him. How could someone do such a thing to their daughter.
Who was she? And why did she have to do that?
Was she an enemy of Sean or was she someone close to him who would do such a thing.
But for now he wanted to calm his wife and daughter who were still in shock and fear. He continued to rub Odelia’s back and Carmelia’s hands. The two girls he loved more than anything, he felt guilty that he wasn’t there to protect them.
"I’m going to report this to the police so we can find out who sent that woman to poison Carmelia. I’m worried that this will happen again if we don’t catch the mastermind of this incident," Sean said.
"You mean she’ll try to hurt our daughter again?" asked Odelia with great concern.
He nodded his head, but he promised not to let it happen again. He would be there to protect them from harm.
"I’ll do everything I can to keep you guys away from all that. I promise."
In the morning, the hospital questioned Odelia about what had happened. Accompanied by Sean, she told everything to the doctor in charge.
"So apparently, we have checked the contents of the liquid in the injection she was carrying. It was liquid insulin which is dangerous if given in high doses especially to children," said the doctor explaining what they found out from last night’s examination.
Sean asked the hospital to take the matter to the police, he wanted to sue the woman for what had happened. And if the hospital refused, then Sean would sue the hospital for negligence.
"My daughter and wife’s lives are in danger. I will not be silent about this! I want to know who paid her to do this and if you refuse to give me the nurse, I will sue you for negligence for letting that monster almost harm our daughter!" Sean said firmly.
After a long discussion, the hospital finally agreed and would help the case by providing CCTV footage.
"Well Mr. Osbert, as a sign of our responsibility, we will help this case to be resolved quickly and the culprit will be caught soon," said the deputy director of the hospital who was on duty at that time.
"Good, I don’t want this to happen again to my family or any other family in this hospital."
The hospital finally left the room and Carmelia was finally allowed to go home.
"We’d better go home before anything else happens again."
