Chapter 38: Misunderstanding

A man suddenly snapped at Sean while he was counting the money to buy soy sauce. The man thought that he had just robbed Dasha by forcibly demanding her money.

"You misunderstand, I didn’t extort her money. I was just counting the money she gave me to buy something at the grocery store," he replied.

"Don’t lie! Damn thugs like you can only forcefully demand money from the weak! Let alone a bottle-wielding thug like you!"

He looked at his own hand, the bottle he was holding did look like a cheap bottle of alcohol that thugs would buy. But Sean explained that it was a soy sauce bottle.

"Shut up!" The man threw his punch at Sean, making him have to dodge the punch before it hit him.

"Hey stop it, you’ve misunderstood! I’m not the thug who did something like that to him."

Sean still looked calm, but the dark-haired man in front of him continued to accuse him. And that’s when he realized that the man was calling Dasha ’mom’.

’Mom? Wait... Is he Odelia’s younger brother? What’s his name? I don’t remember his name,’ he thought at the time.

"Wait, you’re Odelia’s brother, right? I’m Sean, I’m your sister’s husband. You misunderstood me by thinking I was a thug," Sean explained.

However, the man who was none other than Sam, Odelia’s younger brother, did not believe Sean’s words on the matter.

"What is this? Did you also just threaten my mother so that you could become Odelia’s husband?! Don’t ever hope that you can be with her! She’s now married to a wealthy man overseas. Not with a guy like you!"

Sam kicked Sean in the chest, and the man quickly dodged the kick and kicked Sam’s other leg, causing him to fall to the ground as he lost his balance.

BRUK!

"Akhh... Damn you! You really pissed me off!" said Sam angrily. "You dare to disturb my family, that means you’re dealing with me!"

"Can’t you just listen to me for a minute?"

Without saying anything, he jumped up to get up from his position. He clenched his hands into fists and positioned them right in front of his face.

’Oh that position, the stance to prepare to attack and defend the position. Not bad,’ Sean thought.

Even so, he had no intention of fighting Sam at all. He didn’t want anything unexpected to happen, after all, that man was his current wife’s younger brother.

Having no other choice, Sean called out to Odelia from the front of the shop.

"Odelia! Can you look outside for a moment?" he called in a loud voice. Asking her to open the window and see Sam who still mistook him for a thug.

"What are you calling her for? I told you she’s not here!" Sam hit Sean again with a quick punch.

Yet, somehow, Sean was still able to dodge it, even catching a punch from Sam that took him by surprise.

"H-how could you..."

"Your punches are still easy to read and your fighting style is still messy. Did you use that steed just to scare me?" asked Sean.

Not long after, the window from the second floor opened and it was Odelia who looked out of the window.

"What’s wrong, Sean?" she asked in confusion, she then looked at the man in front of her husband. "Sam? What are you doing here and... Why are you..."

She saw Sam’s hand coming straight towards her husband’s face, but was held back by his hand.

"O-Odelia?! Since when are you home? So... He’s really..." Sam turned slowly to the man in front of her who was staring at her with a sharp gaze as if to say.

"I told you, didn’t I? Now it’s your turn to die."

*****

Inside the house, Sam sat in a chair at the dining table with the others. He was surprised to see a pregnant Odelia, not even Vincent who was her husband.

"S-since when did you remarry? I’ve never heard of you being married to anyone other than that blonde. That’s why I don’t recognize your new husband!" he said in confusion.

"Huh? Mom never said anything to you?" she asked.

He shook his head then turned to Dasha who had just arrived home. She looked puzzled to explain her situation. But she said she would explain it to Sam later.

"You were so busy working, I didn’t even know you were coming home today. So I’ll explain it to you later, now you apologize to Sean. He will be your brother-in-law," Dasha explained to her youngest son.

Hearing that, Sam stretched out his hand and apologized to Sean. "I’m sorry, I didn’t know you were Odelia’s new husband. You were holding a bottle and you had a tattoo on your back neck. So I thought you were a thug," he said.

Hearing that, Odelia didn’t even remember that Sean had a tattoo on his body. She looked at Sean’s back and saw a little tattoo near his neck. The collar of the shirt he was wearing was quite wide, making it drop slightly, exposing a small part of his tattoo.

When they went to their respective rooms, Odelia asked about the tattoo. Given that she had never seen Sean shirtless after she stayed at his house and she also didn’t really remember if he had noticed the tattoo while they were making love.

"Oh... It’s a tattoo I got when I was in school. You know, teenagers were very naughty back then," he replied.

He took off his shirt and revealed the snake tattoo on his back. Odelia was quite amazed by the tattoo, thinking it was tied very cool. Especially with the back muscles Sean had.

"You have a nice body," she complimented as she touched his back.

Sean could feel her fingers, touching his skin, grazing his back which made him feel something inside him.

"Yes, and all of this is yours, Odelia," he whispered as he pulled her waist closer.

Meanwhile, in Sam’s room. Dasha explained everything to her son who immediately made him upset knowing that her sister was treated so badly by her ex-husband’s family.

He had felt upset at Sean too for impregnating Odelia while under the influence of alcohol. But after he heard how Sean and Odelia were getting married, he was relieved that he was taking responsibility.

"Why didn’t you tell me this from the start? I have the right to know too! Especially since almost a year has passed and..."

"I’m sorry, I purposely didn’t tell you because I was worried that you would tell your old man about it," Dasha replied. "Especially now that you work for him."

"Mom... I..."

Dasha looked at her son with a serious face. "I know you told him everything, right? He’s bound to ask about us, I hope you don’t tell him about this, Sam. Don’t cause a scene, do you understand?"

He immediately nodded his head, seeing how his mother was very serious about her request.

"Yes mom."
