I Have A Baby From My Ex-Husband's Enemy-Chapter 56: Bad Teamwork
Remembering that Sean and Odelia were away for dinner on the cruise, Megan and Samuel sat on the sofa in the lounge not far from Sean and Odelia’s room so that they could hear Carmelia’s voice if she woke up.
It was already nine o’clock in the evening. Megan was starting to feel sleepy. She who was leaning back on the sofa while watching a video on her cell phone, suddenly fell asleep but she immediately woke up again because she remembered her niece.
"Uhh... I can’t sleep now. I have to stay up," she muttered while patting herself on the cheek.
"If you’re sleepy, just sleep. You won’t be able to do much to calm Carmelia down anyway," Samuel said casually while playing with his cell phone.
"I can definitely do it, just give her Odelia’s breast milk after it’s warmed up, that’s all! I’m not a ruthless mobster like you who would scare her!" Megan retorted while turning her face away.
"Say that again, I’ll shut that mouth of yours up." He glanced at her with such a cold voice.
But she deliberately did not look at him, and instead dared Samuel to do so. Saying that he wouldn’t dare to do that because his mother was here, even though she was in the room.
"You won’t dare to do it, I’ll report it to your mother later!" She pointed her tongue at him to tease him.
Annoyed, Samuel slid off the couch to where Megan was sitting and pushed her to lay down. "Oh you think I’m not brave? My mom won’t mind because I’m 24 years old, I’m not a kid anymore you know?"
She swallowed with a blush on her face at the sight of him on top of her. Moreover, he looked so cool in Megan’s eyes, she wasn’t sure whether to reject him or get lost in it.
’No Megan, wake up! Don’t get carried away with him. He’s even younger than you. Don’t let yourself fall and lose to a much younger man! ’But--’ she thought, confused about what to do.
"What’s wrong? Why are you being quiet now, huh?" Samuel pulled Megan’s chin to look at him.
"S-stop it stop it! Or I’ll scream loudly and--"
At that inopportune moment, the sound of Carmelia crying could be heard from the direction of the room. They hurriedly got up from the sofa and headed towards Sean’s room.
When they entered the room, they saw that the baby girl was crying quite loudly. Megan immediately picked her up.
"Sshh... It’s okay, auntie’s here. Are you hungry? Are you thirsty?" she asked. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
She checked Carmelia’s diaper but it was still clean, she was sure that her niece was thirsty.
"So what’s wrong with her?"
"I think she’s thirsty? Can you warm up her milk? You know how to do that, right? If not just look it up on the internet, you’ll find it," she replied and then nuzzled Carmelia’s body.
Hearing this, Samuel took the breast milk from the refrigerator and brought it to the kitchen.
Megan waited for Samuel to return while patting Carmelia’s body. "Sshh... Uncle Sam is getting the milk for you. He’s warming it up, wait a minute okay?"
As she circled the room, she tried to calm the baby down, hoping he would return soon with the milk. Megan thought it would be easy to calm her down, as she had seen that Odelia easily got the baby to stop crying.
"No wonder, it’s her baby. It must be easy for her to do that," she muttered.
After 15 minutes, Samuel finally returned with a bottle of milk and gave it to Megan. "Here’s the milk!"
"It’s not too hot, is it?" she asked and poured it into her arm. Feeling that the milk was warm enough, she gave it to Carmelia.
The baby finally drank the milk. They were both relieved that their niece was no longer crying. Megan sat on a chair, letting Carmelia fall asleep again while drinking the milk.
Samuel, who was feeling excited about Carmelia, immediately poked the little baby’s cheek. This made Carmelia open her eyes again, even though there was only a little milk left.
"Hey, don’t touch her like that! You woke her up again!" Megan scolded him.
"I was just touching her lightly," he replied, feeling rather guilty.
And sure enough, she started crying again and didn’t finish the rest of the milk. Megan panicked again, trying to offer the bottle of milk she was holding to get Carmelia to finish it.
But she seemed to refuse and continued to cry.
"Aahhhh it’s all your fault!" she said in annoyance.
"Why are you blaming me? I just did it gently," Samuel retorted.
It forced Megan to get back up and go around the room again to calm Carmelia down. When she was tired, she took turns with Samuel, but until midnight, the baby continued to cry. They were both tired and frustrated, but they still didn’t know what to do.
Until, the door opened to reveal Dasha, who had woken up from her sleep to hear Carmelia crying.
"Why didn’t you wake me up earlier? Poor Carmelia keeps crying," she said and picked up her granddaughter.
"We didn’t want to wake you, Mrs. Grace. Especially in the middle of the night like this."
She smiled, "It’s okay, you can wake me up for this. You and Sam have no experience with babies anyway. So it’s better that I do it," Dasha replied while calming Carmelia.
The two of them finally walked out of the room and sat back down on the sofa. Megan sat next to Samuel and leaned back.
"My legs and arms are so sore, my head is also dizzy from holding back the sleepiness," she complained with a sigh.
"Not only you, I feel the same way. It’s really tiring to take care of one baby. What about those with twins or more," Samuel said as he massaged the bridge of his nose.
He also felt very sleepy and exhausted. They were both like a married couple who had just had a child. No wonder Sean invited Odelia to take a short break because he didn’t want his wife to feel stressed.
Feeling exhausted and sleepy, they both fell asleep on the sofa.
After Carmelia fell back asleep, Dasha put her back in her crib and left the room. That’s when she saw that her son and Megan had fallen asleep on the sofa leaning against each other.
Megan’s head was resting on Samuel’s shoulder, while his head was resting on hers. They were sleeping very soundly and comfortably. Dasha smiled at the sight and wrapped blanket around both of them because she couldn’t bear to wake them up.
"Have a good sleep."
