Chapter 74: Megan’s Old Friend

Megan had no idea that her client was her old high school friend. She hadn’t seen him since graduating because he had gone to Germany to study. Now he was back and living in Zondalian again.

"You’ve gotten prettier since the last time I saw you, Megy," he said, calling Megan by her school name.

"Ahahaha... You’re also getting more handsome, Henry. You used to fight so much that you had plaster on your nose and cheeks. I hope you’re not like that anymore," she said.

"Of course not, we’re adults and have to think about the future. Anything in the past is a juvenile delinquency."

She nodded and invited Henry to sit down. Megan asked Melly, her secretary, to bring them a cup of tea. Melly nodded and left the room.

"So is this design one of your family businesses? I remember you asked me to redecorate a restaurant," Megan asked.

"Right, our restaurant opened a new branch with a different food theme and left the project to me. I remember you’re very good at this kind of thing, especially since your company is also growing well. That’s why I came here," he explained about his current project.

Megan then took out her sketch pad and tablet to show him an interesting layout for Henry’s new restaurant. Starting from the shape of the tables, the number, the design of the room and everything else.

She explained what she had made to Henry and he took a good attention at it. They discussed many things and she recommended a suitable store to buy furniture for the restaurant.

Until two hours passed, their discussion was finally over and Henry was satisfied with what Megan had made. He was amazed that she was a much better person now.

"I’m sure this way, my restaurant will look very attractive. Thank you, Megy."

"It’s my job, I’m happy if you’re satisfied with my work. I’ll send you the data and everything after I revise your request," she said.

They both stood up from the sofa and shook hands.

"So are you busy tomorrow night? If not, I’d like to take you to dinner with me," said Henry, who unceremoniously invited her to dinner at his family’s restaurant.

"Oh you’re asking me on a dinner date, hmn?" Megan teased, to which Henry immediately responded with a chuckle.

He nodded and if she thought of it as a date, then he would be happy to ask her out.

She agreed and said she accepted his invitation for the date.

"Good, I’ll pick you up. Where do you live now? It’s better if we exchange numbers so it’s easier to contact you," said Henry who gave Megan his cell phone.

"Of course," she replied and they exchanged numbers for dinner tomorrow night.

After agreeing with each other, Henry leaves Megan’s office because he has to start fixing things at his new restaurant. He then walked out of there which made her stare at his departure.

Melly immediately approached Megan and spoke to her boss. "Mr. Carlova is very handsome. He seems very interested in you, Miss Megan," she said.

"Hmn? How could that be. You must be mistaken. There’s no way someone like that would be interested in me," Megan said, denying her secretary’s words and sitting back down at her desk.

"But seriously, he’s been paying more attention to your face than what you’re explaining. The look in her eyes was like, ’Oh I finally found you again after all this time’. Didn’t you notice?"

Megan laughed when she heard that, she waved her hand, taking Melly’s words as a joke. She said that Henry was a very handsome man in school, but he was known as a bully.

She was not one of those bullied by him, Megan was often approached by Henry who just asked her what she was doing and why she often daydreamed.

"How come you’re the only one he doesn’t bother? How did you meet?" Melly asked curiously.

But Megan didn’t want to answer. "Never mind, get on with your work. Hurry up!"

She leaned back in her chair and closed her eyes, still not expecting to see her old friend. Moreover, they would go on a dinner date later. After a long time, there was someone who asked her to go on a date again.

"Hmn... But back at Dormania, I had asked Sam to have breakfast with me. Does that count as a date? Or was it just because I was paying for my mistake of accidentally spilling his coffee?" she mumbled in confusion.

She then looked at her cell phone as if she was waiting for a message from someone she really hoped for.

"Even if I did, there’s no way he would consider it a date."

"Dinner with Henry?" asked Sean when he saw his sister already dressed up and ready to go on a dinner date.

"Yes, I’m going with him. We met yesterday at my company. It turns out he’s one of my clients," Megan replied as she smoothed her hair.

Sean didn’t seem to like it, but he couldn’t seem to stop Megan because what Henry did happened in the past.

"What’s wrong with him?" Odelia asked curiously.

"He was one of those guys who liked to get into trouble when he was at school. It just so happened that when Megan was in grade 10 I was in grade 12, so we were still in the same school in high school. That’s why i know him and Henry was always causing trouble," he replied.

"Ah don’t need to look at other people. You just look at that tattoo on your back. You think when you were in school, you didn’t get into trouble yourself? Now that he’s an adult, I’m sure he’s much better!" Megan said as she folded her arms in front of her chest.

Odelia noticed how Sean and Megan were back to arguing as usual. She tried to separate them, making their argument die down.

"Megan’s right, he must have changed just like you, Sean. You have to trust him a little more," she said then turned to Megan. "You also have to be careful, anything can happen. Sometimes the bad person can be someone you’ve known for a long time."

The siblings nodded in understanding as they heard a horn honking in front of the house followed by a report from Sean’s men that a car had stopped in front of their house.

They went outside and saw Henry’s luxury car parked there to pick him up.

"Oh hello senior, long time no see. I’m here to take Megan to dinner," Henry said as he stood in front of Sean and extended his hand.

At first Sean just stared at him in silence, but Odelia nudged her husband’s arm to shake Henry’s hand. He then shook it with a cold face.

"Take good care of my little sister. If anything happens to her, I will look for you even to the end of the world. Do you understand?"

"Y-yeah, I understand."

Seeing Henry’s surprise, Megan immediately pulled his hand to get back into the car.

"I’ll be home after dinner or maybe tomorrow, bye!"

The car drove away from Sean’s house. Although he looked cold as he watched them leave, he was actually very worried. After all, Megan was the only family member he had.

Odelia’s hand rubbed his arm, as if trying to calm him down.

"Everything will be fine. Then let’s go inside. Megan’s going to be gone for a while tonight, we can do a lot of things together," Odelia encouraged him.

He smiled and nodded.

"Yes, let’s enjoy our time together."
