Chapter 82: Why Do Things Like This Happen To You, Sean?

I entered the room where Sean was being treated. After two hours his condition finally stabilized although he was still in a coma. I was allowed to go in and be with him. I felt very shocked when I saw his condition.

Most of his body was injured and covered in bandages. The doctor said not only his right leg was broken but also his right arm although it wasn’t as bad as his leg.

But seeing his current state made me feel so devastated, I pulled a chair near me and sat next to him. I took his hand and kissed the back of his hand.

Why does this have to happen to you? Why does everything have to be like this when we are about to start all our new lives?

We’re going to win soon, soon it’s just going to be us and Carmelia. No more Vin and other problems that might bother us.

But why do you have to lie here, Sean...

Why does it have to be you...

My tears came again, I didn’t know what else to do. I couldn’t bear to see him like this, the thought of him feeling the pain of his accident even made me feel pain too.

"Hiks... Sean, please open your eyes. Carmelia keeps looking for you, you promised to play with her, right? She’s here now, but she can’t come in to see you," I said as I rubbed his head.

"It must be very painful, huh? You even need an oxygen tube to breathe. Hiks... It’s okay, I’ll be here to keep you company, my dear..." I kissed his cheek, my tears couldn’t stop flowing.

I miss his smile, I miss his who always kisses me whenever I feel sad. I miss his voice and the look in his eyes.

Even though yesterday everything was fine. You could still hug me and Carmelia yesterday, but now...

I should have stopped you from leaving, I know your meeting is very important but that bad feeling is haunting me.

And I let you go, why didn’t I have just a little bit of strength to keep you from leaving.

"Sean... Please hold on and open your eyes. I will be here until you open your eyes again, no matter how long it takes I will always wait for you. But don’t take too long, we miss you."

My throat hurt as I tried to stop crying.

As I was sitting holding his hand, I heard a commotion outside Sean’s room. It sounded like the nurses were asking someone to stay in his room. However, a man’s voice was also heard forcing him to leave and then suddenly the door opened.

CRACK!

"M-Mr. Sean!"

"Ronald, what are you doing here?" I asked when I saw that he was also injured very badly, but he forced himself to come to this room.

"Sir, you need to stay in bed! Your wounds are still healing!" said one of the three nurses trying to take him away.

"Shut up!" Ronald snapped at them then holding on to his IV pole, walked towards me. "I’m sorry, Mrs. Osbert! This is all my fault!"

"What are you getting at, Ronald?"

He explained that last night he was supposed to drive the car instead of Sean. But Sean wanted to take turns driving and since he was in the driver’s seat, Sean was hurt much worse because the truck hit the right side of the car where he was.

"If I could have insisted on driving, Mr. Sean wouldn’t have been in a coma. I should have been the one lying there and not him. I’m really sorry!" he said while trying to bow to me even though his own body was covered in wounds.

He lost his balance and fell, I immediately caught his body before it hit the floor.

"I’m sorry, I really apologize!"

"No, it’s not your fault, Ronald. It’s not your fault at all. Don’t feel guilty like this, Sean certainly doesn’t want to see you blaming yourself," I said while rubbing his shoulder.

As he continued to apologize, I hugged him and told him it was an accident and not his fault. Sean was also driving of his own free will and no one was at fault in this except the truck driver who hit them.

"Don’t say that, you’re even injured this badly. You should go back to your room and lie down. You should get better soon too," I told him.

I turned to the nurses. "Please take him back to his room, he’s still not fully recovered. Please..."

"Yes, ma’am."

The three male nurses helped Ronald back to his room.

I really couldn’t understand why he would blame himself like that. In a situation where he himself was injured and almost lost his life.

I turned to Sean, he also almost lost his life in the accident. We could have lost him forever.

I had just found true happiness with Sean. But... It was taken away from me forever.

I sat back down next to him as I rubbed his head gently.

"You hurt your head like this, it must have hurt a lot. If I could take this pain away from you, I’d like to do it right now."

Just as Ronald left to be taken by the nurses back to his room, the door opened again and it was Megan.

I called her early in the morning, luckily her secretary picked up the phone and I was able to ask her to bring Megan here.

"SEAN!" She yelled and ran into us.

Her eyes were red as she seemed to keep crying. Of course, the only family she had had such a bad accident.

"How did this happen? Odelia, what exactly happened to Sean?" she asked me frantically.

I asked her to sit down and calm down first. I explained what had happened just as the police and Ronald had told me.

Hearing that, Megan burst into tears again and hugged his body.

It’s painful, I know...

Especially having to see all of this, I don’t think I could handle it.

"Megan..." I touched her shoulder and hugged her.

She cried in my arms, I could feel the fear of losing Sean as much as I did. But I didn’t say anything, it wasn’t what we needed right now.

I rubbed her back, hoping she would feel better soon.

Sean, you see there are many people who want you to get better soon. That’s why get well soon and open your eyes, my dear.

Ring ring ring...

Someone’s cell phone rang and the owner answered the phone.

"Hello?"

"Hello, Sean Osbert is now in the hospital. He is in a coma due to the accident we planned. I’ve done my job and I’m waiting for my payment and don’t be late," a man said from the other end of the line.

The owner of the cell phone smiled with satisfaction. Although the person had hoped for Sean’s death, that person’s current state was still enough to make that person satisfy. At least Odelia no longer felt happy.

"Good job. I’ll send you the money."
