Chapter 88: Messy Memories

"Who are you?" asked Sean when he finally opened his eyes after a long coma.

What did ’Who are you?’ mean by this?

"Sean it’s me, it’s Odelia. Don’t you remember me?" I asked him while rubbing the back of his hand.

However, he looked very confused, and just stared at me silently.

"Sean? Is that my name?"

No... This can’t be happening right?

Why can’t he remember his own name... Why would he...

I walked out of the room looking for a doctor to check on him immediately. The doctor and nurse finally came and immediately looked at Sean’s condition.

He said that Sean’s condition had recovered, but he seemed to have amnesia because of the accident. I don’t know why I felt my hopes were crushed when I found out that Sean had amnesia.

I thought that once he woke up, everything would be fine. But things got worse because Sean lost his memory.

"We don’t know if this will be permanent or temporary. But I’m sure if you’re patient and remind him of whatever he doesn’t remember, it might pull his memory back," explained the doctor who said that Sean’s memory could come back.

I just need to stimulate his memory so that he can remember who he is and all the things that have happened to him.

The doctor and nurse finally left us and I went back to sit on the chair right next to her bed. I felt quite relieved that I finally opened his eyes and was now sitting back.

Even though he had lost his memories, I was sure they could still come back.

"So can you explain to me about who I am and why I ended up in the hospital?" asked Sean while looking at me.

"Yes, I’ll explain everything to you."

I told him that his name was Sean Osbert and that he was the CEO of the company TechnOzone. I told him about what happened in the accident as Ronald had told me.

I also explained about our relationship, and what had happened between us in the past.

"So you’re my wife?" he asked with a puzzled look on his face.

"That’s right, I’m your wife even though we’re not officially married. We had a contract to become husband and wife, but in the end we loved each other and intended to get married in the near future. Until this accident happened and it’s been three months since you fell into a coma," I explained to him.

He seemed to be trying to remember all that, but the more he tried to remember he felt a pain in his head. I asked him not to push himself and that he could try to remember it all slowly.

I showed him our photos, including Carmelia’s.

"She’s our daughter?"

"That’s right, her name is Carmelia. You gave her that name on the day she was born. I remember you even cried when she was born," I said remembering the day our daughter was finally born.

"She was so cute. Then where is she now?"

"She’s at home with my mom. She’s 7 months old and she’s not allowed to go into the hospital because she’s so young."

Sean visibly sighed, saying he wanted to meet Carmelia in person. I assured him that he would meet her after he was discharged from the hospital. I would ask the doctor when Sean could go home.

He was quiet for a moment, even though he had been asked many questions about himself and other things he might need to get his memory back. He then looked at me and opened his mouth again.

"I’m sorry I can’t remember any of it. I don’t even think I can remember it. It turns out that there are so many things that I’ve been doing, even I have a huge responsibility but I just can’t remember anything. I’m sorry," he said.

I knew it would be very difficult for Sean to get his memory back quickly. Because it seems like it will take a long time for that, like the doctor said I have to be more patient for this.

I held his hand, which made him flinch a bit from my sudden touch. He even reflexively pulled his hand away from me.

"Oh... I’m sorry, I suddenly held your hand."

"No problem, I was just surprised. I’m just not used to it yet. I’m sorry."

I guess this is normal since I’m still a stranger to him. But for some reason it was painful to see his reaction of displeasure when I touched his hand.

"It’s okay, you just woke up a few hours ago and you don’t need to remember everything in a short time. Let everything flow like a river, because I also don’t want you to feel pain from forcing yourself to remember it all," I said trying to calm him down. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"Thank you, I will try my best to remember everything. You said I promised to marry you, right? I will fulfill it as soon as possible."

I smiled and nodded my head. Sean took my hand and touched it, I knew he was still trying to recollect these feelings and I wasn’t going to give up on that.

"Your hands are so soft, I really don’t remember how and what made me love you in the end. But..." He looked into my eyes with such a sincere gaze.

"I’m sure I loved you very much before all this happened. How could I not love an angel like you?" His hand gently stroked my bangs and tucked my hair behind my ear.

"Sean..."

I held his hand and felt his hand which was now warmer. I’m really glad he’s awake again, I...

The door suddenly opened and Megan came in breathlessly, she ran in and immediately hugged Sean.

"SEAN!" She yelled happily as she hugged him. "Hiks... You’re finally awake. I was so afraid you’d catch up with mom and dad..."

Sean turned to me as he was surprised to be hugged suddenly by Megan.

"She’s Megan, your little sister," I told him.

"Oh... So she’s Megan."

At the sound of Sean’s confused voice, Megan immediately released her hug and turned to me.

"Odelia... He can’t be..."

I nodded my head, much to her surprise and went back to hugging Sean. I’m sure he was very sad when she found out. But there was nothing that could be done, only time would tell.

I sat with Megan as she told him all about their childhood.

Ring ring ring

My cell phone rings, and when I look at it, it’s from a number I don’t recognize.

Who was calling me?

"I’ll answer the phone first. You guys keep chatting," I said as I walked out of the room and answered the phone.

"Hello, who is this?"

"Odelia!" I gasped in surprise at the sound of Alice’s voice. She sounded both panicked and miserable at the same time. Was she crying?

"Alice, what’s wrong? Why are you suddenly calling me?" I asked.

"Vin... Vin!"

Vin? Why did she say Vin’s name?

Why... I suddenly felt bad.

"Calm down, what’s wrong with Vin?" I asked because he was crying on the phone.

"Vin... He’s dead!"

FLINCH

"Vin... What?!"
