Chapter 150: He Peng’s Provocation

Understanding the underlying meaning behind those words, Feng Ning’s whole countenance turned dark.

"You rogue! How dare you-"

From her high-pitched voice, it was apparent that she was deeply affected by He Peng’s disgusting remarks.

However, before she could continue further, a hand grabbed her shoulder from behind.

"Sister Ning, you don’t need to soil your tongue for such disgusting people," Yi Chen said the next instant and walked next to her.

"Oh?" A look of interest appeared on He Peng’s face when he saw this scene, and with a snicker, said, "Aren’t you the one who saved the Feng Clan yesterday?

For you to come up and help Lady Ning, it seems she must have given you quite a special treatment last night, am I wrong?"

Hearing those revolting remarks, Feng Ning quivered in anger, but she forced herself not to react by tightly clenching her fists to the point that blood began trickling down her hands.

When Yi Chen heard those remarks and noticed Feng Ning’s state, it was natural for his anger to be increased by severalfold.

Turning towards He Peng, he growled, "Cut your crap! Just because you have a mouth doesn’t mean you can talk shit."

He Peng’s eyes narrowed at that statement. However, while maintaining an unaffected expression, he snorted with an ugly grin on his face.

"I apologise. It seems I misunderstood." As he said those words, the grin on his face widened, "It seems what you received was much more than just special treatment. I’m quite jealous, kekeke,"

"What is he talking about? Is she really?..."

"Is this the truth?"

"Well...it might be..."

Hearing the gossip that was taking place around him, Yi Chen’s eyes finally turned red.

’To hell with the rules! I’m going to smash this bastard’s face into paste right now!’

Clenching his fists, he circulated all his Qi onto his legs and was about to attack.

Sensing his intention, a pleased expression formed on He Peng’s face as he circulated his Qi in full might and waited to counterattack.

’Come, you brat, I’ll teach you what it means to soil the He clan’s plans!’ He Peng thought with a dangerous glint.

He vividly remembered how furious his father was towards him last night, and it was all because of Yi Chen’s actions.

However, before the two of them could even engage, like an apparition, a figure appeared between the two of them.

"Are the two of you planning to start a fight here?" The Imperial Envoy’s voice sounded the next instant as he glared at the two of them.

"Ah, it’s the Imperial Envoy," He Peng immediately bowed his head and said, "We were only exchanging a light banter, senior, just a light banter hahaha,"

The Imperial Envoy snorted, hearing He Peng’s words, and the next instant glanced towards Yi Chen.

"I apologise, Senior. I wasn’t mindful of the rules," Yi Chen bowed apologetically and said while glaring hatefully towards He Peng.

’At least he’s honest.’ The Imperial Envoy subtly nodded and turned around.

After making his way to the addressing podium, he began briefing everyone present.

"It’s delightful for me to see all the young, talented cultivators from the Major Clans gathered right in front of my eyes. The fact that you were qualified to stand here today is in itself a matter of pride.

However, don’t let that little remark get to your head, as your journeys have only started. To cultivate faster and much more thoroughly than others depends not only on your talent but also on the resources you have.

Something for which there will always be a lack. It was because of this very reason that the Major Rankings were made. It ensures the appropriate distribution of resources to the clans based on their strengths.

Today, the battles you will be confronted with will decide this very ranking. A ranking which will determine not only yours but also your clan’s fate.

So, there’s only one thing that you need to do today. Fight! Fight to win!

However, do remember to not break any rules and live up to the honour which our White Jade Kingdom is known for!"

By the time the Imperial Envoy was finished, several cultivators had developed a spark in their eyes. However, there were still a few, like He Peng, who just inwardly scoffed at those words.

Seeing the reaction amongst the cultivators, the Imperial Envoy nodded inwardly, and the next instant gestured towards the cultivators from the Feng and He clan.

"The 20th and the 19th-ranked clans, follow me."

With that said, the Imperial Envoy began moving towards the gate which led to the fighting stage.

"Let’s go then," Feng Ning said while pressing Yi Chen’s arm to attract his attention. He seemed to be brooding on something.

"Yeah..." Yi Chen nodded, and the three of them followed after the Envoy with the He Clan at their side.

Along with He Peng, there were two other cultivators walking alongside him. One of them was He Son, whom they had seen yesterday.

The other was a new face, but was also in the Sixth Meridian Refinement Stage, like others.

’3 Sixth Meridian Refinement Stage cultivators...’ Yi Chen thought to himself.

Relative to their lineup of one Sixth Level and two Fifth Level cultivators, the He Clan was clearly stronger.

As the bright light of the open ground entered their eyes and the Imperial Envoy walked towards the Fighting Stage, a remark landed in their ears.

"Then, Lady Ning, meet you at the Fighting Stage. I’m sure Lady Ning is going to choose me since her body is craving for my touch, am I wrong?"

He Peng waved his hand while snickering, and before their group could get a chance to respond, went towards their stands on the other side of the Fighting Stage.

"That rotten bastard!" Feng Duli clenched his teeth in anger, unable to do anything against him.

’If only I too were at the Sixth Level!’ He thought in frustration.

Meanwhile, Feng Ning, who was the direct victim of He Peng’s shameless words, took a few deep breaths to calm herself.

She glanced towards Yi Chen the next moment, who seemed to be glaring at He Peng’s back with narrowed eyes. Seeing this, she said.

"Brother Chen, don’t think much over it. He’s just that kind of person. Now that my mind is clear, it’s obvious that he’s deliberately trying to provoke me so that I would choose him as my opponent."
