Infinite Dragon Beast: Taming Ice Dragons with SSS Ranked Talent-Chapter 49: The Mastermind of Terror
"What are you going to do?" asked Jacob, seeing that Aiden and Aurora were standing behind the door.
"If you don’t want to die, stay out of this," stated Aiden.
Jacob had no choice but to follow what Aiden said. To them, Jacob might just be an annoying hindrance in eradicating this terror.
Even so, Jacob still wondered about the truth of the monster’s words earlier, especially about the Village Chief.
The old man was the oldest living in the village and had so many good memories with the village, there was no way such a good man would plan a terror as horrific as this.
Aiden and Aurora were still standing behind the door, occasionally peeking out to watch the monsters in their human forms.
"Are you ready?" asked Aiden, bringing up the fire arrow in his hand.
Aurora nodded. With her right hand, she summoned a powerful ice sword capable of cutting and freezing anything.
The door to the house opened loudly, drawing the attention of all the monsters to come towards it.
Aiden was prepared, he flew his fire arrows in a circle to protect himself and Aurora.
In total, Aiden used five fire arrows for the night. Two fire arrows kept spinning to protect Aiden and Aurora, while the other three were used to attack the monsters.
Jacob hurriedly closed the door and locked it again. He peeked through the window of the house and saw Aiden and Aurora walking toward the village chief’s residence.
"What exactly are they doing? Have they gone mad?" Jacob asked.
Aiden and Aurora arrived at the front of the village chief’s residence. Luckily for them, the old man with the wooden stick seemed to be awake at this time of night.
The old man waved his hand as if asking Aiden and Aurora to enter and take cover in his house. Aiden nodded, even though he was about to go into the house.
The house door opened, Aiden and Aurora walked in. There, Aiden saw several people taking cover, all of them the family of the village chief.
"I’m glad you’re alright," the old man of the village chief said.
The other man closed the door and pulled back the curtains, making it clear that Aiden and Aurora were safe with them. Aiden nodded, not saying a word after they let him in.
"Are you two hurt?"
"Have you eaten?"
"Where are you from?"
Some of the Chief’s family members asked Aiden and Aurora basic questions. However, none of them wanted to answer it.
Aiden stepped closer to the Chief, wanting to confirm something to him.
"When will this terror end?" he asked.
"Boy, you just arrived in this village and don’t know anything about this monster terror. So don’t ask questions you don’t understand," the old man replied.
"Oh, I think I understand one thing!" asserted Aiden. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
The young man again flew his three fire arrows. He aimed one at the old man’s forehead, while the other two were used to intimidate the other family members.
"What are you doing?" asked a man, the son of the village chief.
"Didn’t you ever ask your father about when the terror would end?" asked Aiden, turning his head.
"I never asked because we didn’t know when it would be," the man explained.
Aiden grabbed the old man before him by the shirt collar and opened the door, startling the entire house.
Without thinking, Aiden threw the old man’s body forward until he fell right in front of the house.
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU—"
"Take one more step, and you’re dead!" threatened Aiden, flying a single fire arrow at the man.
Not only fire arrows, but dozens of ice thorns also appeared around Aurora. The woman was ready to help Aiden calm them down.
"If you come any closer, you’ll die," Aurora stated, matching Aiden’s threat.
Aiden looked through the house’s window, and his guess was correct.
The old man had been thrown out of the house and was in the middle of the monsters, but none of them dared to kill the old man.
The young man opened the door to let his family see. They were in complete shock, something mind-blowing had happened.
"H-How did father live and not get eaten by them?" another man asked.
"You don’t need to think about this. You’d better arrest him immediately!" said the old man, ordering his son.
"There’s a reason your father lived even though I threw him out of the house," Aiden replied.
"What is it?" the man asked.
"Don’t listen to what he says. He’s an agitator and a liar!" the village chief snapped.
Aiden continued speaking to them, revealing the truth, "Because the Village Chief is the one who controls the monsters."
"What do you mean?! My father couldn’t have done that!" the man argued, rejecting the truth.
Not only the man, but the other family members also responded in a similar way. They said that there was no way the man who had protected the village from the monsters was the one behind this terror.
Aiden shook his head, their heads filled with loyalty to the family making even the slightest truth hard for them to accept.
However, that didn’t make Aiden despair. He looked at the Chief’s family members, then picked up their daughter and gripped her tightly.
Aiden knew the girl in his arms was the Chief’s favorite granddaughter, based on the expression on the man’s face when Aiden brought her to the front of the house.
"Let’s make a bet. What does he want more? His granddaughter or those monsters?" Aiden asked.
Firmly, Aiden threw the girl forward, enraging the girl’s father. He tried to get past Aurora to kill Aiden, but Aurora managed to hold the man back by freezing his legs.
"PLEASE SAVE MY DAUGHTER!" the man shouted, followed by the cries of a woman.
Aiden looked on with a smile, the monsters were like beasts, willing to pounce on any prey, even if that prey was their master’s family.
"Stop," the old man whispered, bowing his head in shame and guilt.
Sure enough, the monsters stopped walking closer. They walked backwards again, obeying the old man’s orders.
"W-What... happened, Father?" asked the man, the girl’s father.
"I’m sorry. I had to make a deal with them," explained the old man, bowing and falling to his knees.
Aurora removed the ice from the man’s feet, letting him and the rest of the Chief’s family out of the house. Aurora stepped closer to Aiden, asking what they were about to do.
Aiden glanced at the houses near the Chief’s residence. Due to the quietness of the night, they were forced to listen to the ruckus that happened tonight. They also knew the truth about this.
"We’ve come this far. We must destroy the monsters’ lair."
