Infinite Dragon Beast: Taming Ice Dragons with SSS Ranked Talent-Chapter 71: Basic Rules of Beast Tamer
The woman stood up, bravely stepping closer to Aiden. She also had beast taming marks on her hands, she had a contract with the fire eagle race.
"Hey," she greeted, smiling.
Aiden turned his head. He looked over at the mysterious woman who came toward him. She had short, shoulder-length black hair, wore a short-sleeved T-shirt with a vest, shorts, and black gloves.
She looked friendly to Aiden, even though this was the first time they had met and talked.
What a shock! The woman took Aiden’s right hand and looked at the beast’s taming pattern. The pattern was different from hers, like there was an increase pattern.
"Tell me, how many beasts have you tamed?" the woman asked.
Aiden was taken aback. He hurriedly released his hand and stepped back away. The man reflexively covered the beast taming pattern in his hand right away, so that she wouldn’t continue to pay attention to it.
’Damn it! I was careless. I had no idea that she’d notice the beast taming pattern on my hand,’ Aiden explained.
’There’s no other choice, I should try to talk to her,’ Aiden said.
He hid his right hand behind his back, then started talking to her.
"Do you have a problem with that?" asked Aiden, sharply.
"Calm down, sir. I’m not a bad person," she said, smiling.
Obviously, the woman removed her black gloves and showed him her beast taming pattern. Aiden frowned and was quite surprised, it was natural for her to know about this pattern since she was a beast tamer.
"You’re a beast tamer?"
"I’m, and this is my beast, Rio," the woman replied, rubbing the eagle that kept perched on her shoulder.
The bird bowed its head, just like a human would. Aiden cleared his throat; this was the first time he had seen a mage as a beast tamer.
"I showed you my beast, would you mind showing me yours?" the woman asked.
Aiden paused, then responded with a shake of his head. Beasts like the eagle race were not particularly dangerous if revealed to the public, but it was different with Dragons, let alone Dragons and Humans had a long history of enmity.
"I can’t show it or tell you," Aiden explained.
The woman before Aiden squinted, looking at him with suspicion. Still, her suspicions were dismissed when she thought that Aiden’s beast might be shy or perhaps a dangerous type of beast.
She sighed, her hands clasped around her waist as her eyes closed, "I see."
"My advice, buy gloves and keep that pattern covered. Mages with beast taming abilities are quite rare and highly vulnerable to being killed," she replied.
"Why is that?" asked Aiden.
"Eh? You don’t know the basic rules of being a beast tamer?" the woman asked, shocked.
Aiden paused, then shook his head. He had nothing to say about the rules of being a beast tamer. Such an education should have been obtained at the magic academy, but the magic academy was a dangerous place for him.
The man also didn’t know if he could get such information from the city library. Aiden was completely clueless.
"Geez, how can you be a beast tamer if you don’t know the basic rules about it?" complained the woman, bowing her head in disbelief.
The two fell silent, Aiden continuing to watch the woman’s demeanor, curious about her intentions towards him.
"I can tell you as long as you do one thing for me," the woman replied.
"What’s that?"
KYUUUT!
Aiden heard a mysterious sound in the surroundings, accompanied by the faint vibration caused by the sound.
Slowly, the woman’s face turning bright red, Rio shook his head at his master’s foolish behavior.
That’s right! The mysterious sound was coming from the woman’s stomach, especially when Aiden saw her hand reflexively clutching her stomach.
"HAHA!"
"Alright. You’re free to order any food in this cafeteria," Aiden explained.
"There are too many people here. I want to take you to a restaurant in the city center, it’s better there," the woman said.
Aiden was silent for a moment, then nodded in approval while keeping a wary eye on her. A woman’s sweet smile could take on different meanings, some were completely genuine, others were playing a trick.
From the woman before Aiden, he couldn’t be sure if her smile was genuine or just a ruse. It was better for Aiden to keep an eye on her while taking care of himself.
The woman smiled widely. She without hesitation pulled Aiden’s hand to step outside the Adventurer’s Guild office. They walked at a steady pace, heading close to the city gates.
"Here?" asked Aiden when she stopped walking.
"Yes, let’s go inside."
The door to the restaurant opened, a man behind the bartender’s table turned and greeted the patrons. Aiden heard him address the woman by name.
"Oh, Fiona. I haven’t seen you visit my place in a while," explained the bartender, the owner.
"I’m sorry, Mark. Some of the missions I went on failed. So, I don’t have any money," said Fiona.
Mark smiled and laughed. He stepped out from behind the bartender’s table to stand in front of Fiona, his attention occasionally turned to the side, towards Aiden.
"So, you want to owe me a drink?" Mark asked.
"No, I want to buy food and drink, he did the buying," Fiona explained, pointing at Aiden.
Aiden smiled and greeted Mark, Mark nodded no objection. He also left a message for Fiona, remembering that he had brought his troublesome eagle again.
"Well, keep a close eye on Rio, don’t make him fly away in my place," Mark said.
"Of course. I’ll take care of him."
The two began ordering food and drinks, then sat down at one of the empty tables. Aiden took a look at the surrounding area; of the 20 tables available, only three were taken, including Aiden’s table.
"You chose a quiet place to talk," Aiden explained.
"This is better. People in the guild could hear our talk. That could put me and you in danger," Fiona said.
"About that, is it related to my status as a beast tamer?" asked Aiden, and Fiona nodded.
"Do you know about beast essence?" Fiona asked back, Aiden certainly did.
Fiona explained that beast essence contained a certain amount of +EXP that adventurers could use to level up. Beast essence can be obtained from non-racial or racial monsters.
"There have been cases of beast tamers losing their hands," Fiona explained, surprising Aiden.
"Lose a hand?" asked Aiden, shocked.
"That’s right. The beast taming pattern on your hand. If they cut off your hand, then the contract can be suspended and the master switched," Fiona explained.
Aiden had never expected that to happen. Cutting off a hand and transferring a master contract to someone else was a terrible thing.
Fiona removed her gloves and showed Aiden the pattern again, "For example, if you cut off my hand and perform beast taming extraction magic, then my contract with Rio will appear."
"When that happens, you can erase the traces of my blood on the contract and replace it with your blood. That way, Rio will submit to you," Fiona said.
"That’s terrible."
"There’s something much more horrible," Fiona explained.
Aiden fell silent, reflexively swallowing his saliva deeply as he listened to Fiona’s explanation.
"If Rio is already in your hands, you, as his master, can kill him and take his beast essence," Fiona emphasized, narrowing her eyes.
"The +EXP in racial beast essences is much greater than ordinary beast essences, many times over," Fiona replied.
"People will do anything to get the power they want. That’s how this world is," said Fiona.
’Aurora is a dragon race with SSS rank and Rachel is a dragon race with SS rank. If someone gets their hands on them and kills them, they’ll gain so much EXP that they’ll become invincible,’ Aiden said. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
’I didn’t think that being a beast tamer could endanger my life like this. I need to start being more cautious,’ Aiden said.
’Fiona seems like a nice person. Perhaps, being friends with her will be good for me.’
