Infinite Dragon Beast: Taming Ice Dragons with SSS Ranked Talent-Chapter 73: S-Rank Quest
***
The next day.
Aiden ran out of beast essence. All the beast essence he had was consumed by Rachel last night. Today, he was forced to take Fiona up on her offer, going on a quest together.
By going on a quest together, Aiden had a chance to get the beast essence. He hoped that if he met a monster of level A or above, it would make it easier for him to feed Rachel.
Coming out of the bathroom, Aiden turned his head and gulped. Rachel had taken off the black dress she always wore and was wearing the same shirt and trousers as Aiden.
At first glance, the three looked like a group with the same uniform. But Aiden did not mind that because the three of them fought together as a group.
"Alright. We’re ready," Aurora said, Rachel still shy about wearing the same outfit as Aiden.
"That’s good. We’d better hurry, Fiona might be waiting for us," Aiden explained.
Aurora and Rachel cleared their throats. The three left the inn to arrive at the Adventurer’s Guild office. Due to the short distance, they managed to get there before eight o’clock.
As usual, eight in the morning was the time for the guild staff to update the quests in the bulletin, posting new quests that adventurers could take.
Sure enough! When Aiden walked in, he saw many adventurers waiting in a crowd before the bulletin. Most of them were group leaders or trusted people of the group.
When Fiona saw Aiden, she immediately waved her hand so that Aiden could easily find her.
The woman was met by Aurora and Rachel, Rachel was quiet towards new people, Aurora was snappy.
"I apologize for their attitude," Aiden explained.
"It’s okay, it’s natural since we just met," Fiona said.
"So, where’s your ’it’?" asked Fiona.
The woman was still curious about Aiden’s beast. Yesterday, Aiden did not tell her anything about it. Today, he was not seen arriving with his beast either.
"About that...."
Aiden turned his head to the side, looking at Aurora and Rachel. Fiona’s attention was drawn immediately to the side, then put on a shocked expression as she stood up.
"Y-You can make them transform into humans?!" gasped Fiona.
"Why?" asked Aiden.
’Crazy, yesterday he didn’t know anything about beast tamer rules, but now he has two beasts and they can transform into humans,’ Fiona said.
’This is crazy, there’s something wrong with his abilities,’ Fiona continued.
Fiona shook her head while tapping her forehead. Rio was chirping like he was saying something, but only Fiona understood the bird’s chirping.
"I know. He’s stupid, but talented. Aren’t talented people like that?" Fiona complained.
"What?! You’re calling Aiden stupid?!" snapped Aurora.
Instantly, the small anger in Aurora’s heart caused the area around her to become ice flowers.
Aiden saw that, he tried to calm her down so that she wouldn’t attract so much attention.
’Ice ability? What’s a beast race with ice abilities?" asked Fiona.
"Calm down. You don’t have to get angry," said Aiden, trying to calm Aurora down.
Aurora’s sharp eyes were still glued to Fiona, beads of ice appearing in Aurora’s hands as if ready to freeze the woman before her. However, she didn’t want to get Aiden in trouble.
Slowly, Aurora began to calm her upset heart. She drew on her strength again and removed the ice beads that appeared on her hands, things returned to normal.
"Fyuuh, thank goodness she listened to me," Aiden said.
"You’re lucky, woman! If it wasn’t for Aiden holding me back, you would have frozen to death!" snapped Aurora.
Fiona smiled faintly as she stared in shock at them. Aiden truly had a sensitive, yet strong and reliable beast. But Fiona didn’t know what the other girl was capable of.
"I don’t think we will have any trouble with this mission," Fiona explained, smiling at Aiden.
"Yes, I hope so."
Eight o’clock in the morning had come. The guild staff began to walk over to the quest bulletin, they let the quests that hadn’t been taken and pasted the new quests they received from the people.
They started filling it up from C rank quests, then B, to A. The staff were also seen adding two new S rank quests.
The mission scramble begins! Fiona rushed Rio straight to the front, to take or seize the A rank mission.
As Aiden watched, he saw Rio fighting over a quest with a woman. With his claws and aggressive attitude, Rio managed to snatch the quest and leave the woman injured.
’What’s the point of fighting over a rank A quest? Wouldn’t it be better for them to take the S rank?" Aiden asked.
Rio flew back to Fiona as his beak continued to grip the paper mission. Fiona received it and read the contents of the poster, an escort mission to Cassia City.
"An escort mission won’t give us a significant increase," Aiden explained.
He grabbed the poster and stepped towards the bulletin, Fiona got up and tried to stop Aiden.
Too late! Aiden had already handed the poster back to the injured woman.
"What are you doing?" asked Fiona, Aiden was silent.
Aiden’s attention was focused on the S rank section, where there were four quests that hadn’t been taken. One had already been taken by the silver rank adventurer.
The first quest of the S rank was to storm the dwarven castle. The second was to collect Black Root herb in the Wasteland. The third was to protect the village from monsters. The fourth was to investigate the missing girl.
Fiona stood beside Aiden, catching a glimpse of Aiden’s eyes, who fixed on the S rank mission section.
"Wait! You can’t act rashly. We’re not strong adventurers like those bronze or silver ranks," Fiona explained.
"Maybe you’re not, but I am."
Among the four quests, Aiden chose to take the second one, which was to collect the Black Root herb in the Wasteland.
The reason he took the mission was because he still held the herb compass given to him by Master Sylas.
With the herb compass, it would be easy for Aiden and his group to find the Black Root and complete the mission.
"Wasteland?" asked Aiden.
"You don’t seem to know what it is," Fiona explained, Aiden shook his head, he really didn’t know.
"Wasteland is a warzone in the past that was contaminated with dangerous toxins. It is said that the toxins were spread by decomposing dead knights and mages," Fiona explained.
"The monsters living in that place are mutated monsters, evil spirits, and some ferocious dragons," she said again, explaining.
"Many people have tried to take the mission, but the guild always sticks it back. That means—"
"They failed and died there," Aiden interrupted.
"You finally know why I forbid you from taking it," Fiona explained.
Aiden was silent. The threat of death would exist in every adventurer’s mission, but according to the mission’s ranking, S-level missions had a high probability of death.
The man looked back, trying to confirm Aurora and Rachel’s thoughts. They responded with nods, agreeing with Aiden’s suggestion.
"I’ll take it anyway," Aiden explained.
"HAH? Are you crazy?!"
