Infinite Dragon Beast: Taming Ice Dragons with SSS Ranked Talent-Chapter 74: Go to Wasteland
Aiden took the poster and brought it to the reception desk, queuing up with the other adventurers.
Fiona gasped with her mouth agape, she never thought that Aiden would dare to take on such a quest.
"Is he crazy?" asked Fiona, Rio chirping back at her.
Arriving at the reception desk, Aiden handed the poster to the female staff in front of him. She looked shocked, unsure of what to say.
"You’ve never taken a single quest from our guild, are you sure you want to take an S rank quest?" the female staff asked.
"Yes."
"I mean, there might be some groups of adventurers who failed their missions. I can put you on the waiting list for—"
"There’s no need," Aiden interrupted, quite confident that he and his two beasts could complete the mission.
The female staffer looked to the side, speaking quietly to her coworker about Aiden’s wish.
The coworker nodded, the decision to take the mission was entirely in the hands of the adventurer, the guild could not interfere.
"Alright."
The woman opened her desk drawer and took out a white slip containing the S-rank mission information.
Aiden had to register the names of the adventurers who would go on the mission, it had to be those who were already registered.
That made Aiden respond by turning his head to the side, fixing his eyes on Fiona. Fiona was silent for a moment, realizing Aiden was confirming her willingness to participate in this mission.
With a heavy heart, Fiona nodded her assent. Aiden wrote down Fiona’s name as the adventurer who would be going with him to the Wasteland.
"Alright, two adventurers for S rank mission."

Aiden got the panel notification right when he held the white slip. The female staff said that the Wasteland was easy to find, but it was a good idea for Aiden to buy a Wasteland map from the equipment shop, even if it wasn’t fully explored. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
While searching for the Black Root, Aiden could explore the place at the same time. Still, due to his unfamiliarity, Aiden had to be careful not to let any of his group members die.
"Thank you," Aiden explained, the female staff responded with a nod and a smile.
The man turned his head and went over to Fiona. He showed her the slip, Fiona was still in shock as she was going on an S-rank mission for the first time.
"Then what’s your plan?" asked Fiona.
"First, we visit the equipment shop to buy a map," Aiden replied, putting the white slip into his magic pocket, "Second, we go to the pet shop to buy a bird."
"Birds?"
Fiona had no idea why Aiden was buying birds, but Aurora did. With the birds, it would be easy for Aiden to track the Black Roots herb and mapping the land.
"Let’s go," Aiden explained, not answering Fiona’s question.
Aurora and Rachel cleared their throats in assent, stepping away to follow Aiden. Fiona was still confused, continuing to ask questions about what Aiden wanted the birds to do.
Their objective was to arrive at the equipment store. There was one place close to the guild that looked filled with adventurers, they were crowding around buying equipment before taking on missions.
Arriving at the place, they were immediately greeted by an employee who approached them.
"Welcome. Do you need anything?" the clerk asked.
"I’m looking for the Wasteland map," Aiden explained.
Hearing an adventurer looking for the map made the other adventurers stop talking, then turned their eyes to Aiden. Aiden felt their shocked gazes.
It was only natural for them to behave this way, since the mission to find Black Roots in the Wasteland had been in the bulletin for two years. Even silver-level adventurers were unwilling to do it.
"Is he crazy? Going on a mission to the Wasteland?" someone asked.
"Shut up! He can hear it."
"No one has ever returned after taking that mission. Is he new to the guild?"
Their voices were heard by Aiden and Fiona. Fiona grew even more frightened as she responded by shaking her head.
She had expected the mission to be difficult, even before they arrived in the Wasteland.
"We have it. Please wait for a moment," the employee explained.
The man stepped through the crowd, retrieving a white slip containing the Wasteland’s digital map. The white map had a distinct difference, which was that it said the type of map on the slip.
"This is the Wasteland map we have, it only reaches a few places," he said.
Aiden accepted and activated the digital map. It showed only a small part that had been explored, in comparison to the unexplored black area.
"It’s enough," Aiden said.
"That should be eight silver," the clerk said, as Aiden handed him a gold piece.
After getting the map, Aiden walked to the second location, the pet shop. Now, Fiona had the courage to ask about it.
"What do you want to do with the birds?" Fiona asked.
"Control them," Aiden explained, speaking as he continued walking down the city street.
"How?" asked Fiona.
"You’ll find out later."
Again, Aiden gave Fiona a mysterious vibe. Controlling birds? Was he planning to make a beast tamer contract with those birds? That would be a waste of his MP.
Even so, Fiona continued to walk after Aiden until they arrived at a quiet pet shop. Aiden looked up, seeing many fancy birds in cages.
"Are you interested in that bird?" the shopkeeper asked.
"Yes, how much is it?"
"That’s 3 bronze, while the one with the bigger body size is 5 bronze."
The man had a total of twelve birds for sale, all of which looked good and could fly smoothly. Aiden nodded. He handed the shopkeeper five gold pieces, enough to startle him.
"Five gold pieces?" the man asked.
"I bought all the birds you have," Aiden replied, surprising the shopkeeper.
Although he didn’t know what Aiden wanted to do, as the seller, he had to hand over the 12 birds to him.
One by one, Aiden took the birds and put them into his magic pouch, shocking everyone.
"Y-You can’t do that. The bird could die," said the shopkeeper.
Fiona sighed, stepping forward while asking the shopkeeper to bring a small cage used by birds like that. Then the man arrived with 12 much smaller cages.
One by one, the birds were kept in these cages until one person held three cages. Once everything was ready, they stepped out of the city.
"To arrive at the Wasteland, we have to travel for two days by horse-drawn carriage at least. It’s much more effective than walking," Fiona explained, holding up a white slip of the Wasteland map.
Aiden was silent. He looked at the dense forest before them, it looked deserted with no one there. For him, it was a suitable place for Aurora to transform.
Fiona gasped as she looked to the side. She saw Aiden walking into the forest with Aurora and Rachel.
"You’re taking the wrong way. It was supposed to be this way," Fiona shouted.
Both of the woman’s hands were clasped around her waist, occasionally asking Rio about their strange behavior.
What a shock! Blue light shone brightly from the forest that Aiden and the two girls had entered. Fiona clicked her tongue, assuming that they were doing something dangerous there.
"What exactly are you guys—"
ROAR!
An ice-blue snake dragon appeared in the center of the forest, with Aiden and Rachel beside it.
Fiona widened her eyes in shock, her heart beating fast with cold sweat pouring down all over her body. She was truly creeped out.
"D...Dragon?!" gasped Fiona.
Aiden turned his head and smiled faintly as he looked at Fiona’s shocked and scared face, "Yes. Aurora is an ice dragon."
