Infinite Dragon Beast: Taming Ice Dragons with SSS Ranked Talent-Chapter 75: Village Before Wasteland
"Are we going to ride that?" asked Fiona, pointing at the ice dragon beside Aiden.
Aiden nodded, having no other choice but to ride the Dragon. A horse-drawn carriage could get them there, but the two-day journey was tiring.
Fiona shook her head. She had never imagined that she would be riding a dragon, let alone a dragon that was Aurora’s true form —after all, they had fought before.
Rachel was already sitting on Aurora’s back, unlike Aiden who was below. Again, the man continued to invite Fiona to ride, even to the point of forcing her.
"I-I’d rather go with—"
ROAR!
Aurora roared loudly while directing her eyes at Fiona, it was enough to make the woman run away from the forest.
Aiden sighed softly. There was no point in taking Fiona who looked terrified of Aurora’s ice dragon.
The man climbed onto Aurora’s back. After being there completely, Aurora took a deep breath and flew from the dense forest.
Fiona arrived at the dirt road that split the forest. She looked back and saw the ice-blue dragon fly through the trees with an easy swerve, then disappear suddenly.
"Wh-Where is she?" asked Fiona, shocked.
Rio remained silent, as he and Fiona were both witnesses to the fact that they had seen a tamed dragon. That fact made Fiona even more reluctant towards Aiden, as well as afraid of him. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"We’d better get going, we have to take a horse-drawn carriage in the village ahead," Fiona explained.
Unlike the horse’s pace, Fiona thought that Aiden and his two beasts would arrive at the Wasteland border much faster, about a day faster. However, using a horse-drawn carriage was much safer for Fiona for now.
From the sky, Aiden looked at the digital map showing the Wasteland’s territory. The map he’d bought was taken by Fiona, as Aiden thought she’d come along.
However, she wasn’t. Aiden didn’t mind that. He still had the digital map of the Clovis Kingdom, because at a glance, the Wasteland was on the southern border between the Clovis Kingdom, Arcanis Kingdom, and Moon Kingdom.
From that map, Aiden saw the red dot of their location. Based on the map, Aiden had to pass through five villages to get near the Wasteland.
Today, it was ten in the morning. Aiden didn’t know how long Aurora could fly, he could only hope that she could fly all the way to the Wasteland.
Occasionally, they looked down to see the view of the village, forest, lake, and hills. Rachel hoped that she could soon transform like Aurora.
"I hope I can transform like Sis Aurora soon," Rachel explained.
"You’ll get it. I think you need some dark elemental gems to evolve further," said Aiden.
"Does Aurora also evolve by using the magic energy from her gems?" asked Rachel, Aiden nodding with a clearing of his throat.
"Alright. I’ll help you find the gem," Rachel said.
Aiden smiled, then refocused his eyes forward. He told Aurora that if she was tired, they could take a rest in one of the villages.
Aurora listened to Aiden’s suggestion, the woman nodded visibly and roared out her cold breath. Aiden smiled, happy to see Aurora listening to him.
Six hours into their journey in the sky, Aiden’s red dot seemed to have crossed the five villages. Aiden smiled, Aurora had made it to the Wasteland.
They passed the fifth village and arrived at the Red Land. Seeing no one there, Aiden asked Aurora to land on the field.
Aurora descended from the sky and revealed her figure from her camouflage magic. This was the first time Aurora had transformed in a public area, having always done so in the forest before.
Aiden descended, as did Rachel. A bright blue glow lit up the place, a sign that Aurora was transforming back into a human.
The man watched the surrounding area, but no one had seen them. They arrived at a red dirt field with several ruins of buildings that looked decayed due to age.
Not just one, but Aiden saw several ruins of former houses around the red dirt field. The man suspected that this place was a former village that once existed.
However, its existence was lost for reasons unknown to Aiden. Aiden turned his head and saw Aurora walking while being helped by Rachel, the man hurriedly walked over to help her.
"I’m fine, Aiden. You don’t have to worry," Aurora explained, smiling.
"You’re making good progress," Aiden said, distracting Aurora.
"What do you mean?"
Aiden explained that Aurora used to get tired quickly when she went on long trips and transformations.
However, it was different now. He hadn’t seen Aurora get so tired to the point of being temporarily paralyzed and having trouble walking.
Now, she was just exhausted and could still walk —albeit with a limp. The three of them looked at the surrounding area, trying to find a place for them to stay.
But there was none! There were only ruins and vast forests. Their best option was to go to the fifth village.
Perhaps they could rest there while looking for information on the Black Root herb in the Wasteland.
Aiden lifted Aurora’s body and carried her in his arms. Aurora was completely shocked, not knowing why Aiden could do such a thing.
However, Aiden’s gentlemanly attitude was something Aurora liked, especially since her legs were tired due to the long walk.
They walked across the dirt road in the middle of the forest to quickly arrive at the fifth village.
There were roars from the forest-dwelling beasts, but Aurora acted aggressively by roaring even louder at them.
Ever since they’d heard Aurora’s dragon roar, the sounds of the beasts had ceased. Aiden chuckled, Aurora’s protective demeanor helping them.
After about two hours of walking, they finally found a village in the forest. Aiden guessed that it was the fifth village, the village before the Wasteland.
"Look!" said a villager, a man with an axe in his hand.
Instantly, the villagers focused their attention towards the south, where Aiden came carrying Aurora in his arms, with Rachel beside him.
"You just got back from the Wasteland?" the villager asked, Aiden shaking his head.
"I just came. I landed in that red field over there, a place full of village ruins," Aiden explained.
"WHAT?!" startled a villager at the story.
"Yes, there are the village ruins there, with the barren red dirt that seems to bury the village. Why?" asked Aiden.
The villagers looked at each other, then nodded in reply. They began to explain the matter to Aiden.
"That is the Wasteland. That village is in the land of the Wasteland."
