"What? Dragon?!" Fiona was shocked, her eyes rounded wide in disbelief.
Aurora turned her head to the side, right towards Rachel. Both of them were dragon races, but they had never fought a dragon before, let alone it was a Wasteland guardian fire elemental dragon. They turned their heads in unison to stare at Aiden in doubt.
Aiden had many ways of fighting the dragon, some using his luck, some having to go through great suffering.
Still, if they didn’t, they would never be able to retrieve the Black Roots and complete the mission.
"How do you defeat a dragon?" asked Fiona, Aiden shaking his head.
"To defeat it, we must unite our powers," Aiden explained.
"No, no! Uniting forces isn’t enough, we’re not silver or gold rank adventurers. We don’t have the slightest chance of defeating that monster!" said Fiona, flatly rejecting Aiden’s proposal.
"So what do we do? Do you have any suggestions?" Aiden asked Fiona.
The woman was stunned, then turned her face toward the east. According to Aiden’s explanation, the dragon was there, protecting the Black Roots that were growing well in the ruins of a palace.
If Aiden asked Fiona, she was even more clueless about the things to do. There was certainly a chance of completing the mission and becoming the first person to conquer the Wasteland after years of nothing, but the stakes were big and scary.
"I don’t know," Fiona explained, softly.
Aurora squinted, then stepped closer to Aiden with eyes full of confidence, "Tell me what your plan is. We’ll follow."
Aiden glanced to the side, looking at Aurora’s optimistic and confident face. The man began to smile slightly, then turned his eyes to the east.
"Before arriving at the ruins, there were many monsters guarding the area. Not just those monsters and the black-winged spider monster, but many more," Aiden explained.
"I’ll use my talent to control the dragon temporarily. You guys go to the ruins and get those Black Roots," Aiden said.
"Are you planning on controlling its eyes again like you did with the birds?" asked Fiona, as Aiden turned his head and shook it.
"No!"
"I have another way to control the dragon, much more effective."
Aurora had accompanied Aiden all this time and she knew exactly how Aiden behaved when faced with a problem, none of his plans always failed.
The white-haired girl turned her head, holding Rachel’s hand tightly as if to encourage her. Rachel gasped, but seeing Aurora’s confident face calmed her down.
"All right. I’ll come!" Rachel said firmly.
After Aurora and Rachel decided to leave, it was inevitable that Fiona would also have to follow what had been decided.
With a sigh, Fiona nodded as she said that she wouldn’t be responsible if one of them got roasted to death.
Aiden smiled. He assured Fiona that neither of them would die. If push came to shove, Aiden would have Aurora or Rachel enter his soul and tell Fiona to escape.
The man was very confident in his abilities, not because of magic, but the curse that kept him immortal, though Aiden might have to suffer much more pain.
They began to walk away from that place to the east, climbing a high hill to be able to monitor the surrounding area.
Sure enough, there were several spots in the area that were ruled by certain monsters.
There were centipede-like monsters, then spiders, then minotaurs, then snakes. From the front, Aiden could see that the huge ruins were being guarded by a large red dragon. The fire dragon kept flying and circled it.
"That’s the dragon," Aurora explained.
"How was it? Were you scared?" Aiden asked, and Aurora fell silent.
"It’s my first time seeing another dragon and fighting against it," Aurora explained, turning briefly to Aiden, "Of course. I’m a bit scared."
Aiden patted Aurora lightly on the shoulder, trying to tell her that she and the others would be fine. This time, he would be the one to focus on finding a way to get a chance to take the herb.
However, before it happens, they should at least be able to get past those four groups of monsters. Chances were, one of them was an S-level monster -Minotaur and Spider were A-level.
"Are we going to defeat them one by one?" asked Fiona, Aiden shook his head.
"We don’t have time for that."
[Magic Element: Flaming Spear]
From Aiden’s hand, he condensed fire magic into the shape of a flaming spear. Aurora saw that, she immediately followed Aiden to bring forth three floating ice swords. Rachel did the same using her black magic ball.
Bravely, they ran with Aiden running in front, Aurora and Rachel on their right and left.
ROAR!
HSSSH!
SQUEK!
All the monsters of the four different types saw that. One by one, they started running bloodthirsty towards the three people. Aiden smiled, the battle was inevitable.
Aurora stood guard on the right side as she killed, pushed, or even froze the approaching monsters.
Rachel used her darkness power to the left, spamming magic into the ground where from that power, a hand skull appeared that sucked in anyone who stepped on it.
Aiden focused on clearing the monsters attacking him from the front. With a swing of his red flame scythe, Aiden blasted them and created a path of fire as a result of the explosion.
Fiona gasped, amazed, and astonished at their madness. She was still standing at the top of the hill, with Rio on her shoulders.
"They’re really crazy," Fiona explained.
Rio chirped a few times, surprising Fiona because only she knew what Rio was saying. According to the beast, he and Fiona should have gone there to help them. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"How about you? Is your transformation ready?" asked Fiona, Rio chirped while nodding.
Fiona was silent for a moment, then took a deep breath while exhaling slowly. There was no other choice, she had to go there and help Aiden.
Rio began to fly in front of Fiona, then glowed a bright ash-colored light to show its true form, an ash-tailed eagle that belonged to the A-level beasts.
Aiden turned his head slowly, then smiled as Fiona began to move with Rio. Aurora and Rachel saw Rio’s true form.
"It turns out that the eagle can get bigger, I thought it was just a display!" Aurora complained.
"Focus on the fight, Aurora! We’ll be at the ruins in a minute," Aiden explained, and Aurora nodded.
From the sky, Fiona used her wind elemental gem to enhance her magic ability. Buff obtained, Rio flew low in front of Aiden, Aurora, and Rachel.
"We’re going to destroy them the same way we destroyed the minotaur earlier!" said Fiona.
Aiden and his two girls paused, then nodded in agreement. Fiona stretched out both hands and brought four medium-sized hurricanes forward, capable of blocking the monsters’ progress.
Aurora released her cold aura towards one of the typhoons, as did Rachel with her dark energy. Aiden did the same, releasing a fireball towards the typhoon.
The combined power of the different elements made a significant impact on the monsters.
Many of them died, dropping their beast essence. There were also some who chose to flee for their lives.
Aiden stretched his hand forward, taking the beast essence that belonged to him. Fiona also obtained her beast essence.

The addition of EXP in this mission was very beneficial to Aiden, he again had the opportunity to level up after previously successfully leveling up.
Even so, this addition will not have a significant impact if not with the completion of the mission
"Now, all that’s left is to fight the fire dragon!"
