Chapter 83: Fragment of Fire Chronos Dragon Beast Essence

Slowly, the tightness in his chest began to dissipate. Aiden’s breathing was as steady as ever, but he still saw the red thread of fire magic energy coming from the ruins over there.

They had gotten the Black Roots, a sign that the mission had been completed. However, Aurora and Rachel looked extremely exhausted from the dragon battle.

Aiden looked up at the sky, seeing that it was almost night, it wouldn’t be good if they returned today.

"Are you alright?" asked Aurora, anxious to see Aiden on his knees clutching his tight chest.

Aiden smiled, he responded by shaking his head, saying he was completely fine. Aurora nodded in reply, helping Aiden to his feet.

"We should find a safe place to stay tonight," Aiden explained, standing up with Aurora’s arms around his neck. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"Wouldn’t it be better if we left now before it’s too late? Aurora can take you and Rachel," Fiona explained, pointing at Aurora.

"I fought and used up a lot of energy earlier. Right now, I can’t transform again for a while," Aurora said.

Rachel did not answer. She had already shown Fiona that her body could not transform anymore. There was no other choice, they could not force themselves to leave in this situation.

Fiona looked over at the ruins, thinking that it might be a place to rest for the night. Aiden nodded.

Aiden told Aurora clearly that he was fine. He could stand up and walk with them. The most important thing was that they went to bring Rachel and the fire dragon girl in.

Aurora nodded, and so did Fiona. Fiona placed Rachel on Rio’s back, and was immediately carried by Rio into the ruins.

The two women were actually reluctant to help the fire dragon girl, right after what she had done earlier. Still, they had to obey Aiden’s orders. Aiden was the leader of this group after all, he knew good and bad.

Inside the castle ruins, Aiden continued to walk along the thread of fire magic energy. Through his eyes, the thread of fire magic energy could be seen piercing through a wooden cabinet that was somehow untouched in that place, even though the other furniture was destroyed.

Gently, Aiden reached out and pushed the cabinet. What a surprise! It wasn’t a normal cabinet, but something like a pivot door hiding an underground staircase. Aiden was truly impressed with their skills.

Rio chirped behind Aiden. Aiden responded as he turned his head, then walked over to take the initiative to carry Rachel on his shoulders.

"Sorry to trouble you, Aiden," Rachel explained, Aiden smiling broadly.

"No problem. You’ve successfully transformed into a dragon. That’s a great achievement," Aiden said, making Rachel blush and bury her face in Aiden’s back.

The man took another step forward, standing right before the mysterious pivot cabinet door. If it was indeed a place deliberately made to store something, Aiden guessed that the items in that place must be valuable objects that were sought after by adventurers throughout the kingdom.

Not long after, Aurora and Fiona arrived behind Aiden. Together, they carried the fire dragon girl who couldn’t do much, but could only babble endlessly at Aurora and Fiona.

Aurora roughly let go of the fire dragon girl’s body, making her fall and lie on the ground. Fiona, annoyed as well, did the same.

"AWW! Can you guys put me down nicely?!" complained the fire dragon girl.

"Hey, Aiden. Can I kill her?" asked Aurora, so annoyed that she dared to bring up the ice magic spear in her hand, pointing the spearhead right before the fire dragon’s head.

The fire dragon girl, who had been grumpy and angry, started to become timid when Aurora didn’t play along with her threat.

The girl brought out the ice spear from her hand and pointed the magic at the dragon girl’s face, giving her a terrifying impression.

Aiden shook his head. He thought that he and the others would need her when they found something inside the secret dungeon. Aurora looked forward, she did see the dungeon.

"Alright. I’ll let you live because my master wants it," Aurora explained, fading her magic spear quickly.

The fire dragon girl felt relieved, starting to take a deep breath. She explained to them that they had to get into the dungeon before the night fell. Aiden paused, curious about the fire dragon girl’s reasoning.

"Believe me. There’s a terrible dark entity that roams the Wasteland at night. You won’t even be able to defeat it," the girl emphasized, a serious expression on her face.

Aiden looked at Aurora, then both responded with similar nodding gestures. He told Aurora and Fiona to bring the fire dragon girl inside with them, Rio shrinking down and returning to perch on Fiona’s shoulder.

The man led them into the secret dungeon. He held up two fingers of his right hand, bringing forth a speck of flame that continued to shine down on the place. Aiden discovered that the basement stairs were circular.

From the end of this hallway, they saw a glimmer of light. When they arrived, Aiden widened his eyes to see a large place that looked like a hall, with several rooms inside.

"I doubt this place was made by her," Rachel explained.

"It was probably made for her by the people of the Fire Dragon Clan, to make her feel comfortable," Aiden replied.

The floor was made of marble tiles with large pillars supporting the place. In front, there was a throne made of silver, with a dragon pattern on the tip of the throne.

What shocked Aiden even more was the chunk of red glass that trapped a piece of beast essence inside.

Through Aiden’s eyes, he saw the thread of fire magic energy directed at the fragment, as if the beast essence fragment had some kind of connection to Aiden.

"Is that a fragment of Chronos’ Fire Dragon Beast Essence?" asked Aiden.

The fire dragon girl was shocked; she had never expected a human to know that. There was another reason why the fragment of the Chronos Fire Dragon Beast Essence was kept here, which was to wait for the envoy master to arrive.

"That’s right. How did you know?" asked the fire dragon girl.

"Where are the others?" asked Aiden, looking at the girl.

The fire dragon girl sighed, then closed her eyes, "I have no idea."

"Who are you, Sir?"
