Chapter 97: Dragonkin Mage

The three agreed. The short man nodded, ready to accept their challenge. He walked away from the place to a large rocky field, with large stones lining some of the sides of the field.

The first match was Aurora against a man. The dwarf man would be in charge of the match. He explained that all means were allowed to win. If either side admitted defeat, then the other side had to stop attacking.

"The first match... begins!" said the dwarf man.

Aurora raised the ice sword in front of her, everyone was startled to see it. They never knew that Aurora was a mage.

The man who was Aurora’s enemy was trembling in fear, worried after seeing Aurora’s ability. Armed with his rusty spear, the man leaped forward while swinging his spear sideways.

Aurora dodged it easily, then swung her sword sideways as well. The rusty spear flew out of the man’s hand, Aurora kicked him in the stomach, sending his body flying.

Everyone was shocked, as were the dwarves ruling this village. In one crushing physical blow, Aurora managed to win the first match after the man waved his hands in surrender.

"This is so easy," Aurora explained.

She put away her ice sword. The dwarf man leading the village announced that the man’s manor became Aurora’s full property. Aurora was happy, now all she had to do was watch Aiden and Rachel fight.

"You really didn’t show any mercy to him," Aiden said, sighing.

"Eh? Is that wrong? I thought the match was supposed to be played with passion," Aurora replied.

’That’s true, but at least control your power. I feel sorry for him,’ Aiden said.

Aiden turned around with his hands clasped around his waist, clearly witnessing that the man had collapsed into a faint. Now, the second match would be held between Rachel and one of the nine residents of the one-night house.

Rachel jumped quickly and arrived at the center of the stone field. She glanced to the side, seeing the terrified looks on the men’s faces.

The dwarf man shook his head. The surge of power earlier when Rachel arrived at the stone field was enough to frighten them. The man asked them, none of them were ready to fight Rachel.

"Rachel!" called Aiden, Rachel turned around quickly.

"Control your strength. Don’t hurt them," Aiden replied.

He didn’t want to see anyone else seriously injured just because of this match. Moreover, he was trying to avoid an incident like earlier, where Aurora had beaten the man to a pulp.

’I wish one of them would challenge her,’ Aiden explained.

Since no one was willing to challenge her, the dwarf man had no choice but to pick her at random. He pointed to a man with a wooden bow and arrow, who would be Rachel’s opponent.

"You! Go ahead and fight him," the dwarf man commanded.

"Wait! Me? Why not Joe?" asked the bowman, pointing at another man.

The dwarf man shook his head. His decision was absolute and indisputable. If the bow man was reluctant to fight Rachel, then the ownership of the house could be handed over to Rachel without a fight.

With a heart full of fear, the man stepped into the stone field. Rachel and the man stood at a significant distance, safe for them at the start of the match.

"The second match begins!" said the dwarf man.

The man began nocking arrows on his bow, then charged forward to target Rachel. Rachel closed her eyes, then activated her darkness magic in the form of an elastic whip. People were increasingly amazed by her abilities.

With one swing, the arrows split into two halves, failing to hit Rachel. In a swift movement forward, Rachel dispelled her magic and covered her right hand with dark magic energy.

SLAP!

What a surprise! Rachel slapped the man with all her might, sending him flying away and hitting one of the boulders. Again, the man fainted after getting a dark slap from Rachel.

"Oh my," Aiden complained.

"Horaaayy!" shouted Aurora, proud to see Rachel win the match.

’Aurora won with one kick. Rachel won with one slap. How strong are they really?’ asked the dwarf man.

The man looked to the side. Aiden, the only male among them, seemed to be commanding the two of them sternly. The dwarf could draw the conclusion that Aiden’s strength was much stronger than theirs.

"The second match is over, Rachel is the winner," the dwarf man replied, forgetting to announce the winner.

"Next," the man said, turning to Aiden.

Aiden nodded. He stepped onto the stone field as he brought out his golden fire spear, blazing in the hot flames. Aiden’s over-the-top appearance made the men even more frightened.

"He told us not to overdo it, but he’s using a magic spear instead," Aurora complained, arms crossed in front of her breast. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

"Who do you think will be my opponent?" asked Aiden.

A man raised a hand, stepping forward with a cold expression. In his hand, he held a spear with a deep purple aura. Aiden immediately squinted.

"It feels good to compete with a fellow spear user," he explained, coming in wearing light armor.

"Sure does. So do I," Aiden chimed in.

The dwarf smiled. It was possible that Joe’s match with Aiden would be evenly matched, given that Joe was a mage in this place, unlike them who were mostly early adventurers.

"The third match begins!" said the dwarf man.

Aiden tightened his grip on his fire spear. He blocked Joe’s purple spear’s swinging attack with the shaft of the spear. Aiden could feel Joe’s strength was much stronger than he expected.

He pushed Joe back, then swung his spear while jumping, sending a golden red scythe forward targeting Joe. Joe smiled, he dodged in a flash of purple orbs.

"Magic ability?!" was Aiden’s surprise.

Aiden continued to watch where the flash of purple orbs would go. Smiling, Aiden swung his spear back, expecting Joe to attack him from there.

Sure enough! Aiden’s attack managed to tear the light armor Joe was wearing. That made Joe even more excited.

"You make me want to kill you!" Joe snapped.

To his surprise, a dragon tail appeared behind Joe’s back with two black horns sticking out of its head. Both of his eyes turned purple-black with dense dark energy shining on his body.

"What! Dragonkin?" the dwarf asked.

"What’s a dragonkin?" asked Aurora.

"Dragonkin are a mixed dragon race. They don’t have a perfect dragon transformation form like the Shadow Dragon clan. Their bodies are stuck in half-dragon human form," the dwarf replied.

"Even so, their strength is much stronger than ordinary humans, but weaker than the original dragon descendants," he added.

Aiden listened while enduring a barrage of attacks from Joe. Realizing Joe was part of the Dragonkin race made Aiden come up with the best idea to defeat him.
