Infinite Evolution: My Idle Evolution System-Chapter 319 - 5/7]
[Would you like to Awaken the Sub-Class of |Deadbeat Dad|!? It could bring about some unexpected benefits—]
"No," Cassius said while observing the area overlooking the mountain he was on. "Just shut up for now. If I am to continue doing as you wish, then I'm gonna need some peace and quiet."
[Psshh… We both know you're just thinking about all those lasses! What? Are you debating how exactly you'll go about reconnecting with the side chicks you haven't seen for the better part of a century?? Thinking of getting some action in~?]
[You've been a virgin for how long now~? 80+ years?? This just proves that even with a face card like yours, you still can't get any action! Haha!]
[What a failure! (˵¬ᴗ¬˵)]
"Shut up," Cassius said, his face shrouded in angered shadows. "Turn on the mute option for your voice."
[Lol, what do you think this is? A COD lobby?? You can't mute me! You're stuck with me forever, baby!]

[But fine, only because I want to get things on the road, I'll be quiet until I deem it necessary to speak once more. Be grateful, loser virgin! I'm feeling like a Saint today!]
[Have fun with your dumb floozies, hihi~]
Cassius finally obtained some peace and quiet, but with his new power level, he could sense everything on Earth and even the entire Isolated Solar System. This meant he could vividly trace out the voluptuous figures of all the women he hadn't seen in what felt like forever. He could also see the skull-shaped island and the extraterrestrials within.
All the once terrifyingly powerful aliens now seemed so pitifully weak in his eyes—except for one. Selena—the Overwatcher sent down by the Dissonant Mothership. She concealed her strength well, but Cassius could discern the truth. She was above the SSS-Rank but not quite at the EX-Rank, and with a quick System scan, he confirmed her to be at the Half-Step EX-Rank. Moreover, she had a Peak Red-Ranked Danger Rating, which surprised him greatly.
"With my latest stat improvements, I should be able to handle most Half-Step EX-Rank entities with minimal effort," Cassius said, confusion flashing past his sharp gaze. "Not to mention—how has someone above the SS-Rank been able to remain on Humanity's 0th Floor for so long? How is she this strong?"
Something was off about her. That much he knew for sure.
Weirder yet, when he inspected her description more deeply, nearly everything was locked behind question marks. This only happened when someone was substantially stronger than he was. But… someone at the Half-Step EX-Rank shouldn't be anywhere near strong enough to cause that…
'I thought I knew everything there was to know about the descended Dissonants after assimilating the memories of so many of their grunts, but I guess not,' Cassius thought. 'In reality, there's still so much I don't know about them…'
However, in spite of his unsolved queries, the world had less than 24 hours until the commencement of the World's End Gate Raid. And with so many Dissonants on the move all over the world, he felt that he should prepare himself as well.
"I'm going to go see the girls," he said, though he turned his head in the opposite direction of Hoshito. "But before that, I have to go and see a couple of familiar old faces."
FWIP!
Cassius vanished from atop a high-reaching mountain in East Asia.
Around the same time, a group of Dissonants appeared where he had just been. They wore apathetic expressions, and in the hand of the leading Dissonant was a phone.
"His existence briefly left our reality again," the leading Dissonant emotionlessly said into the phone. "Also, Ma'am, the scouts of the other Ascension Tower Dimensions are making their moves. They're obviously planning to take advantage of the upcoming Nexus Event."
The other side of the phone call was silent.
Then, with the cutting off of the call's connection, Selena's voice came through.
"I put you in charge; you know what must be done if something unexpected occurs in the Gate Raid. Let fire rain from the skies. Buy as much time as possible until a breach can be made in the Tower that will allow the temporary invasion of the Mothership's main forces. If nothing else, hold back 'Its' son until I'm able to hand over the breach-breaking task to our members on the outside. I'll personally handle the problem—possibly even speed up the descent of our Primary Target."
"Understood, Ma'am," the leading Dissonant respectfully said to the now vacant call line. He then turned to his subordinates, some of whom wore the faces of S-Rank Hunters from all over the world.
"Scatter."
FWIP! FWIP! FWIP!
— Meanwhile, outside a certain research facility in the Antarctic —
"Corra, an envelope came in with your name on it," said an older woman with short black hair. "Must've cost quite a fortune for the sender to get it out here. Hoho~ you have a boyfriend or something that we don't know about~?"
"What?"
A younger woman with long, auburn-colored hair walked up to the older woman; both of them had on white lab coats. "This envelope—the name on the front…"
Memories of an overly handsome, suave man washed over her psyche, causing her to jolt back in surprise.
"How could it be him!?" she exclaimed as she hurriedly ripped open the envelope.
Upon getting her hands on the letter inside, her eyes widened.
She spent the next period of time reading over the letter's contents, each passing second making her surprise meter exponentially multiply. The way her expression kept changing startled the short black-haired woman. Although they had only known each other for a short amount of time, she had never seen her friend make such a face before.
After taking a long, heavy inhale, Corra exhaled.
"We have to leave," she said. "Someone…from my hometown has informed me of news that could put us in danger. Even in the far-off Antarctic, we are not safe. We must head for the bunker designated for this region."
"???"
